Air Bag Light On Problems of Audi A4

Received airbag recall NHTSA 16v079 on April 2016. After almost 3 years of waiting for parts due to shortage the airbag was replaced on February 2019. On April 2019 airbag light came on. Dealer scanned vehicle and said was unrelated to the airbag which it was just replaced and wanted to charge me over $800 for a rear seatbelt tensioner. I didn't think they were being honest so I took the car to another non-Audi dealer and they confirmed the airbag codes were related to actual airbag which was replaced. After a lot of back and forth and aggravation with Audi, they decided to replace the airbag a second time on may of 2020 and airbag light went away. However, 5 months later on October of 2020 airbag light came back on. Dealer now says the airbag control module is not good and wants to charge me $2,800 plus taxes to replace it. I feel they don't know what is causing the problem and are presenting me with a fat bill with the hopes I will walk away without repairing, this way they are off the hook from any obligations to repair the car or potential law suits in case of an accident. I am running out of options at this point. I feel the dealer and manufacture are not taking responsibility to repair an issue which started after the airbag recall replacement and now they want to charge me $3,000 for something I am not even sure it will work. Is there a law that would protect the consumer from this type of situation? after all this was a recall. . . . . What is my right at this point?.

Noticed air bag lights on didnt think quick , also I notuced electrical issue here & there. Engine runs & sounds louder when using a/c. When you go to shut off vehicle theres a loud thump thump noise at the end fir about 3 mins or so , problems starting the engine , back windshield wiper turns on by its self , a week ago the light in the bavk turns on by it self. Other engine problems not sure if all tied in together I just started my purchase on 7/21/2020 from a car dealer. Had it checked by 2 people & one said air leak showing from diagnostic machine . My dealer put on machine & said didnt see nothing wrong. Power steering goes out have to fill almost every 2-3 days. My dealer said dont put more cause it could mess up engine. So I didnt & 2 days later driving 15 -20 mph on residential street it starts sounding like its going to stop so I presumed to shut off engine . Chevk under the hood & the power steering fluid was bone dey smoking slightly , & belt was pulled out a& shredded & it wouldnt even turm on enough to get a full start & dealer came & towed it back. Now he saying I need a new engine.

My Audi stopped blowing out heat first and then the check engine light came on. When I took it to get the check engine light code tested it read pressure default. Not long after my air bag light came on. Now my car is leaking coolant.

Lately the airbag light will come an and I will get a message saying "safety malfunction", I am taking it by the shop tomorrow, but just in case someone else has this problem, it will be identified. We were driving and it came on, then went off then came back on. Also the identify up by the lights were going between passenger air bag off and on, and my wife was in the passenger seat.

I purchased a 2004 Audi A4 1. 8t all wheel drive in October 2010. Carfax says no accidents, flooding, etc. Airbag light came on so I took it to Audi of schaumburg, IL who said the harness under the seat needed to be replaced and charged $507. 77. This is the driver's seat. Several months later the air bag light came on again. Took it to Audi exchange in highland park, IL and they said it was recommended that the air bag be replaced. However, Audi does not guarantee that this fixes the problem. The cost is $900 to replace the airbag but the service manager was going to try to give me some sort of discount. Picking the car up again today. This is a safety issue and Audi should recall the cars and fix it for free. If airbags aren't going to deploy then why have them? why pay money for safety features that don't work?.

2006 Audi A4 cabriolet air bag light comes on and stays on. Dealer checked wiring connections under seat and light went out. 1week later it's back on. This time they sodered the wires and cleared the code. A week or 2 later it's back on and they did something else, what I'm not sure. 2 weeks after that light is on and they replace airbag in drivers seat. A few weeks after that it is on again and the dealer replaces the ring in the steering wheel ( clockspring??) 2 weeks after that the light is on again and the car is currently at the dealer. Am told it is a random fault. The car has about 35000 miles on it and the factory warranty is about to expire and the Audi certified warranty about to kick in. I purchased the car with about 33,000 miles on it.

Passenger side airbag light comes on due to passenger seat harness issues. There is a technical service bulletin however Audi will not repair this issue.

I have recently purchased my 2004 Audi A4 and the airbag light has recently ignited after my car has passed the 50,000 mile warranty period. Dealership claims I need to pay 300 out of pocket to cover. I believe this to be a manufacture problem as I have not got into any accidents or actions which may have resulted in the airbag going off.

Airbag light is on. Also horn has not work for the last 3,000 miles. Car only has 27,000 on it. Both of these safety items are very common failures on Audi A4. It time that the NHTSA does something. Remember its: "people serving people" and not "NHTSA serving the automobile manufacturers. ".

Audi A4 1. 8t 2004, air bag defect. The consumer stated the air bag light would illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on 4 separate occasions.

The air bag light is on. The consumer had the air bag replaced and the dealer has serviced the vehicle several times, but the light continues to stay on.

When the car was about a year old, the entire airbag system had to be replaced, the repair facility noted to me that I was lucky to bring it in when I did, as it was at risk for spontaneous deployment. Additional problems included an oil pump failure ($750) at about the three year mark; and occasional sudden lurching/rpm revving or sudden onset of a 'lag' in power, which the dealer noted when I brought it in but could do nothing about. I have also had problems with the fuel indicator gauge being grossly inaccurate - indicating I have used only a quarter tank of fuel to drive 350 miles. However, the most bothersome ongoing problem is four or five trips to the dealer to repair a non-functioning cruise control system. Each time they have 'replaced the vacuum hoses' but this 'repair' will begin to fail again later that same day. The system will either fail to engage altogether, or it will be engaged during highway driving, then within a few minutes, the speed will continually decrease until I have to manually disengage the system and turn it off. I reported this to Audi of America's corporate customer service (very friendly and helpful) who helped me arrange another service visit, but the problem has never been resolved. Cruise control has never worked and I'm giving up on it ever working. I just have to pretend that I don't have it, which is very annoying during highway travel.

Air bag light on,ran code, states bad igniter ran google search says 2005 A4 qualifies for recall Audi dealer states not on list for airbag recall this is a safety issue and should be repaired at no cost to me.

Consumer was traveling about 40mph on highway and passenger's airbag went off without prior warning. She heard a poppying noise, and was able to pull over. Airbag light went off and there was a bad smell. There was no accident, and airbag went off on its own.

Defective sun roof would open unexpectedly and not close. Dlr replaced sun roof. Also, speedometer malfunctioned and was not readng the speed accurately. Dealer replace speedometer sensor and gear. Finally, airbag light came on, indicating a problem with air bag. Dealer replace dthe airbag sensor. Please provide further information.
