Airbag warning light comes on in dash and chime continuously goes off at various times (while stationary or driving) - with or without passenger in seat. Brought car to the dealership and they said the passenger side airbag needs to be �re-harnessed�. Also stated that until the repair is done the light and chime will continue going off and the airbag is at risk of not deploying in an accident. I am outside of my warranty and it is not covered even though it is a safety issue. It will cost about $300 to fix.

Fireman at the scene told me "there is a recall on your car, did you know?" my market valuation report as my car was totaled, states there is a recall on this car. It states due to an improper algorithm in the airbag control module, if a crash necessitates deployment of the side airbags, a second impact to the front of the vehicle may not command the front air bags to also deploy and as a consequence further states, if the front air bags do not deploy in the event of a secondary impact to the front of the vehicle, there is an increased risk of occupant injury. Traffic was stopped on the highway and you could clearly see brake lights and the slowing of traffic for quite a distance. I travel this area regularly and am aware of the construction that causes traffice to slow. The truck ahead of me stopped, I was at a complete stop, the car behind me stopped then a a car hit me from behind, my car was pushed into another vehicle a car length ahead of me. My airbags did not deploy, my head hit the steering wheel. My car was also pushed sideways into the concrete divider. When I read the recall, it is exactly what happened in my car. My car was manufactured October 28, 2014. Why did they not deploy? please advise as this was a serious situation and I am dealing with a brain injury. There was a fatality as well.

I was driving 65mph on the freeway when another car swerved and crashed into the passenger side of my car, then sending me into the cement dividing wall on the driver's side at 65mph. Purchased car from elk grove Audi as a certified used vehicle. The seat broke and no airbags deployed. I was at a stop light with one truck in front of me also stopped. A chevy tahoe doing approx 45 mph hit me from behind, she moved over at the last minute so she did not hit me completely from the rear, she ended up hitting the back drivers side and then down the side of the drivers side. I was pushed into the truck in front of me. One of the officers asked if we had purchased the car used since the airbags did not deploy. Car was totalled - during the process of the settlement on the car the insurance company informed us that the car had been in an accident before. When we went back to Audi about it, they claim they had no knowledge of the previous accident. The reason we do not believe that is because the mileage on the accident claim is exactly the same as one of the service visit to Audi 5 days after the claim.

In early September 2010 the air bag warning light came on in my 2006 Audi A4 cabrio and would not turn off. I took the car to be serviced and was told the air bag needed to be replaced. The car has never been in an accident. It is now out of warranty. This part has never been used. If I'd been in an accident the air bag would not have deployed. Although a TSB has not been issued for this problem, I have read similar complaints of this happening to the same car after the same # of years. Suggest that the NHTSA take a look into this issue. Had I been in an accident and needed the airbag to work, it would not have. Since the car has never been in an accident, this indicates the part was faulty all along. A recall should be issued and Audi USA should replace this part free of charge for all vehicle owners to avoid the inevitable lawsuit if the part fails when someone does have an accident.

I accidentally drove over the rumble strip on the side of the highway. The right rear tire blew and the car flipped over six times and changed direction. Every side air bag inflated excepted for my side, the driver's side air bag. The front air bag did not deploy either. My A4 was completely destroyed except for where I was sitting. When the first responders came they did not expect for me to be alive and the accident was classified as a level 2 trauma. I hit my head on the driver's side window and suffered a major concussion with a hematoma. I also had major facial lacerations, a broken nose, broken ribs, and a severe bone bruise on my knee. Audi sent an inspector to the car after the accident and his conclusion was there was not enough impact on the side of the car even though the car flipped six times at highway speeds to deploy my side air bag. Every other side curtain airbag deployed. The only other passengers in the car were my two labradors. No other adults were in the car. The two labradors each weighed less than 65 pounds and I weigh 135 pounds. Audi has given me a free maintenance package for my next Audi. Thank you for looking into this matter. A dvd of pictures was made of the car along with a report of the condition of the car after the accident.

The rest of the Audi safety features worked - the rear seat rollover protection deployed. The emergency flashers came on. The engine turned itself off. My question is why didn't the driver airbag go off??? it was a direct hit. There was no one in the passenger seat, yet that airbag went off.

On November 10 I had an accident due to a brake failure driving at 15 mph exiting the highway. Manufacturer rejects a failure of brakes testing the car static at body shop. At crash , the driver airbag did not deployed, there was no passenger but the passenger air bag deployed. Roll over protector ejected even with no intention to roll. 2- failures and repeated malfunctioning lead to accident even manufacturer denies any problem, my belief is that car is unsafe to drive. I have read other same problems in this dot site. 3- first 2 times repair shop stated a repair. At the moment car is being repaired already 4 months. Many irregularities with service and repairs while at dealers and sub contractors trusted repair shops.

Dt: the consumer owns a 2005 Audi A4. The consumer had an accident on June 21, 2005. The front of his vehicle hit the guardrail and his airbags did not deploy. Audi manufacturer did not seem to be to interested. The speed at time of impact was between 25-30 mph. There was no pre-impact braking. A large truck came into his lane he steered to the right, struck the end of a guardrail with the front of his vehicle went over a 60 foot embankment and then rolled over. There was one occupant and he was wearing his seat belt. The air bag warning light was not on prior to the crash. The insurance company stated that this was a total loss and there are pictures available.

On 9/28/04 I was involved in an auto accident where another driver in a suburban failed to yield the right away, turned in front of me, I hit her with my 1998 Audi avant wagon. The combined speeds of the two vehicles combined with where I hit the suburban, flipped the suburban. This driver was trapped in her vehicle. The fire department was involved in lifting her vehicle off of her arm. She subsequently received hundreds of stitches in her arm. In contrast, I shattered my right wrist scaphoid bone. This required a rather major surgery involving bone graph and titanium screw in 11/04. The bones never fused, and I am looking at additional surgery. Please note that my air bags never deployed in this accident, and much of the force of the impact I sustained was in my right wrist/arm. I am also right hand dominant.
