It happens when I turn the car on and I go to park it. When I pass reverse. It seems to happen a lot more often after it rains. My transmission is going into limp mode due to a major fault. Code p0706: transmission range sensor circuit range/performance the transmission range sensor tells the tcm the position of the gear lever. It also contains a neutral safety switch, which ensures that you can only start your car in neutral or park. Potential causes for this code to set are: faulty transmission range sensor misadjusted transmission range sensor open or shorted transmission range sensor harness faulty pcm it happens to a lot of the A4 Audi's. Its dangerous and its not anything that owners of the Audis did or did not do. I have never neglected my car. It is something that is enevatable because it was caused during the manufacturing.

The contact owns a 2003 Audi A4. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds and switching lanes, another vehicle driving at high speeds crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The other vehicle then spun around and crashed into the front of the vehicle impacting the drivers side and the front passengers side. The air bags did not deploy. The rear passengers seat belt restrained a child passenger tightly who then received ash marks and light abrasions from the impact. The drivers head hit the steering wheel that cause extensive head aches that required medical attention. The child passenger and the driver were taken for medical testing. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company and then towed to the contacts residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

All airbags failed to deploy in a driver's side "t-bone" collision. A-4 is equipped with side airbags. A-4 was stationary and occupied, minivan crashed into driver's door and part of front quarter panel. Van's rate of travel was 20 to 30 mph. . . . In reverse!!!. My wife suffered neck and shoulder injuries. Local Audi dealer replaced the side airbag # 8d0 880 241 aa and the airbag controller module # 8d0 959 655 g. Only at my insistance, was this work performed when I continued to question why no airbags deployed. My direct questions were met with, "you know, more injuries occur when an airbag goes off, so, your wife is probably luckier that they didn't work". Wtf?!?!?! hey buddy, let's put you in the driver's seat and ram minivan into it with the same speed and mass! also, rest your arm on the open window and see if you don't lose arm like my wife almost did. What are these guy's trying to cover up for Audi?!?!?! has there been a corporate decree of total liability avoidance with deceit being pushed down to the dealer level, or are they just idiots? I'm also in the class action regarding the oil sludge lawsuit. Now they are denying 1/2 of my claim because they say I'm missing proof of a single oil change that should be in the records of the dealership's that performed the work, which for some reason all the records pertaining to that critical timeline have been wiped off Audi's corporate comupter system. When will it all end???? I'm about to drive this m-f-ing car over a cliff! any Audi execs wanna go for a ride? I feel I've been taken for a long enough ride after some $15,000 to $20,000 in repairs over the last 6 years. Let's hope our airbags will be free of failure in the event of a future accident. Someone else's experience has been that switching out the module with the same model module has not eliminated the problem completely and it has re-occured, I. E. , red light in dash coming on again and failure to deploy bags in a crash.

2005 Audi A4 quattro was serviced at dealership in nashville TN for a recall of coil packs. Afterward the air bag warning light appeared. The car was serviced for the air bag and a switch under the seat was replaced at my expense. Two weeks later the air bag light re-appeared. The dealer states that a new sensor is necessary. A search on the internet revealed that many Audi owners are experiencing problems with the air bag sensor. This is a defective safety part and should be recalled by Audi.

Passenger's airbag deployed upon impact. No passenger or parcel on passenger's seat, drivers bag did not deploy. Audi continues to deny a problem existed. Audi's own documentation describes a no passenger lock out switch to prevent deployment of the passenger's airbag when no passenger or (heavy parcel?) is present. I was the only occupant in the car, had my seat belt buckled, pretensioner for my seat belt fired but my airbag did not deploy. An interlock, by definition, is either on or off. An interlock or lock out device does not act as a "maybe on" or "maybe off" gate.
