1 Engine Failure problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/11/2020

Audi issued a technical service bulletin that I found on your website. This bulletin was regarding the exact parts the dealer (Audi) identified as being affected on my car (high pressure fuel pump, cam follower, and corresponding intake camshaft cam lobe). This bulletin (not a recall, but distributed internally to dealerships) clearly states that this is a widespread issue that affected all VIN ranges of specified Audi models from 2005-2007 that included mine. Audi extended drivetrain coverage on these vehicles to 10yr/120k mi. This issue causes a worsening loss of power upon accelerating (making driving at all speeds dangerous) and eventual engine failure if left alone. I am the 3rd owner of this car, so I did not receive the intended letter from Audi stating the specifics of this coverage extension. My vehicle is currently at ~110k miles at the time of this service (~4-5 days ago). Upon bringing this bulletin to the attention of Audi service manager, he did not ask me for the bulletin number or revision, he just denied covering it verbally saying the coverage was "10yr/120k mi, whichever came first" but would not send me a copy of the extension letter proving this. The cost of repairs related to this issue is ~$5,600. I opened a case with Audi of America. I provided the requested info, and was still not sent/emailed a copy of this letter, or proof that it was sent to the owner of the vehicle. I was told cases take up to a week to review (they would need me to provide service records for the vehicle, etc). I was called less than 24hrs later that the case was denied, before I provided any info or pled my case that a company with the slogan "truth in engineering" should stand behind an acknowledged engineering flaw. Repairs are ~1. 5x the value of the car. I don't have the money to fix this and it creates an unsafe driving condition. Please help.

2 Engine Failure problem of the 2013 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

Engine at 39,600 miles. Had an oil change performed at 37,000 miles. Car threw rod into engine block resulting in total engine failure. Remedy is a new engine valued roughly at $4,000 and labor valued at $4,000 before taxes. Cause of failure has been unable to be determined by Audi but there was sufficient oil. Vehicle was traveling straight at 65 mph on the freeway at time of incident.

4 Engine Failure problem of the 2011 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/24/2017

This past Sunday, my Audi self-accelerated in busy traffic. Only because I drive a manual was I able to prevent an accident. I had the car towed from sacramento CA to Audi oakland. They diagnosed it saying the piston blew threw the engine, depressurizing the engine. They claim the don't know why and have failed to contact me since. I had to contact Audi USA which hasn't been responsive. This was a catastrophic engine failure while I was driving three boys. Nonetheless, Audi oakland--and I had to call them!--just told me its my problem and I need to pay $16k for a new engine. They told me this is an odd occurrence and since there's no warranty, its not their problem.

5 Engine Failure problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 02/26/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Audi A4. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled as the check engine and battery warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,000.

6 Engine Failure problem of the 2008 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

I was driving on rout 62 with my 16 year old niece and my car felt like it went into neutral, the lights on the dash started flashing. The brake pedal felt tight but I was able to pull over without causing an accident. It keeps happening and I am afraid to drive. (especially knowing there is an open recall because my airbags may not work or worse, cause severe injury due to metal shrapnel) I also read that my car has a hidden defect that the timing chain can go at any time, causing catastrophic engine failure. I brought it to an independent Volkswagen Audi mechanic where they did a diagnostic. He told me to bring it to someplace that specializes in transmissions. I looked in my owners manual and under transmissions. It says if this happens drive it to your nearest Audi shop. I emailed Audi because I read that there were recalls and technical service bulletins about the diagnostic code p0606. I saw that there are many class action lawsuits and complaints all about the same problem with my car. I can't wait years for a class action lawsuit. I live in new england and it's getting cold. This is my only car. I bought 6 months ago, in November. I have done all the service and maintenance recommended by Audi. What ever it is that is wrong with my car, Audi has fixed other cars but not fixing mine and my car. I take excellent care of my car, inside and out. It has been serviced at every recommend milage date. Nothing has ever gone neglected. My car is completely inoperable and it is due to defects that were made during manufacturing. I do not trust Audi customer service or the Audi service center.

7 Engine Failure problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

At highway speed, the low oil pressure light came on, before the driver was able to move to the side of the road the engine failed. The car was towed to the Audi dealer and after two days the dealer quofed $7000 to start working on the engine. Technician found the timing slipped and valves were damaged. The oil level was fine, but the dealer did not determine why the oil pressure failed. Sounds very similar to class action law suit for A4's through 2005.

8 Engine Failure problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 10/04/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Audi A4. The contact stated that a week after having the oil changed, coolant flange replaced and the readiness codes reset the engine seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnose that the engine needed to be replaced. The technician explained that the engine failure was not due to the repairs that were previously performed on the vehicle. The failure and current mileage was 104,000. Pmb.

9 Engine Failure problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/12/2008

On 8/1/07 I purchased a 2003 Audi A4 with a 1. 8t engine from a local used car dealership. In may, 2008, the oil light came on, we had a qualified mechanic check the vehicle thoroughly and no problems were found. 2 days later, the engine completely shut down and the vehicle has been inoperable since that time. I have contacted Audi in regard to this since it is due to a manufacturing defect that causes sludge in the oil pan to recirculate through the engine, which is what led to the engine failure. The oil return ports were not made large enough to recirculate the oil properly. I have been told that since I purchased it as a used vehicle, "as is", there is nothing that they will do to assist me in this situation. I was never made aware of this problem whatsoever prior to the engine failure and replacing the engine will cost in excess of $5000. They have never issued a recall on these vehicles, even though they are aware of the problem. They off an "extended warranty", but to qualify the vehicle owner must prove that all scheduled maintenance on the vehicle was performed by Audi certified mechanics. As a 2nd owner, I have no prior records from 8/1/07 and previous. The "extended warranty" covers 200-2004 A4 models with the 1. 8t engines, so obviously they are aware of the defect, but they have never recalled them. Do I have any other recourse other than to file suit against them?.
