1 Oil Pump problem of the 2008 Audi A4

Failure Date: 06/04/2016

June 4 2016 my vehicle stalled while driving on the freeway. Per Audi dealer the cause is engine failure as the oil pump has a tendency to go bad causing no compression in the engine. The vehicle used synthetic oil and had its oil changed frequently including having to add additional oil as it was burning through oil quickly which appears to be common in these vehicles. The camshaft also needed replacing within one year after purchasing the vehicle. There is a fault in the engines and such breakdowns should not occur. Audi has quoted $14000 to fix and offered no financial support or further explanation.

Failure Date: 09/23/2015

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the oil pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000. Oo.

3 Oil Pump problem of the 2002 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/15/2005

My 2002 Audi A4 1. 8t was malfunctioning the day I took delivery and has had a surprisingly high number of defects since then. Today, the car is inoperable and Audi is refusing to assist me. On 5/15/05 my engine suddenly began vibrating harshly and losing power while driving on the interstate. The check engine light came on, and my dash display was flashing a red warning. After towing my car to my dealer, reeves import motorcars of tampa, FL, I was informed that the problem I encountered is a known defect in Audi / vw 1. 8 turbo engines. Apparently a defect in the 1. 8t regarding sludge that clogs the oil system and causes a loss of oil pressure. To rectify this problem, the engine must be flushed and the oil pump, oil pickup, all oil lines and turbo tubes must be replaced. I had never been made aware of this fix, which costs roughly $2,000. Audi denied warranty on my claim, my entire engine needs to be replaced and I am now faced with a service bill of $10,500!!!! my dealer informed me that Audi had declared my service history and therefore denied me warranty. (they stated that while all service intervals had been observed, sometimes I was slightly over). Additionally, my rental car since may 16th (usually provided by the dealer for warranty work) is now my own responsibility. In summary: 1. This is a known defect, fully documented by the manufacturer. 2. The factory is now refusing to accept responsibility for an expensive yet totally avoidable engine failure. 3. This failure was sudden. It was not an issue of excessive wear and tear, or a condition that gradually worsened due to neglect. Therefore, the periods between service intervals should be irrelevant. 4. I have sent letters to Audi north America's vp in charge of customer relations, mr. Johann DE nysschen, without response. Buying an Audi was the worst decision I have ever made.

4 Oil Pump problem of the 2001 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/21/2005

Oil light came on. Immediately pulled over and checked engine oil level. Not low. Took the car to the dealership. Originally diagnosed as needing a new oil pump due to oil sludge. On further inspection the dealer found scarring on the engine bearings and wear on the camshaft. Upon flushing all the pre-existing oil out of the engine, metal filings were found. New diagnosis: completely new engine required. Audi, USA knows this is a prombem with A4 1. 8t. They've extended warranties as a direct result. Yet becuase I'm the second owner and can't produce all previous oil change receipts, I'm being required to pay for the new engine. This is a poor engine design that I shouldn't be held liable for.

5 Oil Pump problem of the 2001 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/10/2004

Audi A4 1. 8t oil pump failure causes cam adjuster failure, causing possible $8000 in damage to cams in 1. 8t motor.

6 Oil Pump problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 01/07/2004

The engine oil light illuminated while driving. The engine was inspected, and it was discovered that there was heavy oil sludge. The oil pump had to be replaced. The car had only 26,000 miles at the time of the repair. Audi recommends oil changes every 10,000 miles with synthetic oil. I had the car serviced before the 10000 and 20000 mile scheduled maintenance, at Audi dealerships. Audi has not reimbursed the cost of repairing the engine, despite their warranty extension to cover the cost of oil sludge damage.

7 Oil Pump problem of the 1998 Audi A4

Failure Date: 02/04/1999

Oil pump failed twice, November 17 1999 and December 1, 1999. Hbl, inc of tysons corner, va presumably fixed it first time. Upon recurrence, I have contacted hbl three times by fax, but have not returned my messages. I consider this to be a major failure, as the manufacturer asks fro the car not be driven when the oil pressure sensor is premanently lit.
