I was making a right hand turn my car started to lose breaking a ability and my car went in to a ditch and the air bags deployed the dust from the air bags practically disolved a hole in my jeans.

I was preparing to yurn road had a lip when I attempted to turn breaks locked up would not engage resulting in my accident.

The airbag light just turned on on me, I was looking to see if there was a recall on it, but since there isn’t, I want to make sure I’m not the only one with this problem. Also the seat belt light is on, I clicked all seat belts in, and the light remains on.

Recall omission & safety dispute (case #10683843): I am reporting two documented safety defects in my 2008 BMW 328i (n51 engine) that are identical to existing federal safety recalls but have been omitted from the recall VIN list for this model year. 1. Airbag system failure (recall 17v-428): the vehicle has a confirmed fault code 93c3 (passenger seat occupancy mat). This is the exact failure mode described in recall 17v-428. This defect has deactivated the front passenger airbag system, as indicated by the red srs warning light. The manufacturer has refused to address this as a safety recall, despite the component failing in the identical manner described in the 2006 model year recall. This creates an immediate risk of injury or death to front-seat passengers in the event of a crash. 2. Engine stall risk (recall 23v-707): this vehicle utilizes the same aluminum vanos housing bolts that are currently under safety recall 23v-707 for 2010–2012 models. These bolts are known to loosen and shear, causing sudden engine stalling while in motion. Despite the high risk of a high-speed stall and loss of power steering/braking, the manufacturer is excluding 2008 models from the recall remedy. Dealer/manufacturer response: the vehicle was inspected by a dealer in October 2024 (invoice #156201), but the safety warning light was not documented on the repair order. A subsequent formal request for assistance (case #10683843) was denied verbally by the manufacturer's regional management, who stated the vehicle is excluded from the recall based on its VIN, regardless of the active safety system failure. I am requesting a formal investigation into this recall omission to ensure these safety-critical repairs are provided to all affected vehicles.

My mat sensor in my passenger seat is not working properly. Nobody ever really sits in the passenger seat and the light came on stating that someone is sitting in the passenger seat when there is actually nobody sitting in the seat! which means the airbag will not deploy this seems to be an issue with many 09 BMW 328i vehicle’s! I noticed through research that vehicles prior to said year had same issues and was part of a recall. I feel this should also be part of a new recall with this vehicle year.

Consistent steam coming through hood of vehicle. Electrical panel indicators. Vehicle has been serviced regularly and sent to BMW mountain view for recall repairs.

I had my passenger in the car driving 30mm and then I got a “restraint system warning ?? “ illuminating the seatbelt light and seatbelt with airbag light. This is a safety concern as it is still on without a passenger. This affects the passenger airbag so in the case of fatality this would fall on BMW na for neglecting to fix this issue. The car was fine before and this came out of no where.

I went to park my mom's car. Tapped the brakes, moved up a little, tapped the brakes again-the brakes gave out and the car lunged forward at a high speed. The only reason I stopped was because a metal fence stopped me. Earlier in the day the car switched modes by itself from sport to economy. This is the 2nd time this has happened in this car. The first time my mom was parking in her driveway and the brakes gave out and the car lunged into her garage. This car is not safe.

Passenger restraint system malfunction. My vehicle as well as thousands of others have the chronic and unsafe issue of the passenger occupancy sensor malfunctioning. In order to remove warning on dash it’s either a $2,000 repair, or a $40 bypass which basically places the seat as constantly occupied, sticking the passenger airbag in the ‘on’ position. Vehicle is available for inspection. With this malfunction, any person that sits in the passenger front seat is at risk of injury or death in the event of a collision. Malfunction has been confirmed by both a dealer and an independent service center. Vehicle was inspected by the dealer, but no police or insurance company. Vehicle was purchased with the malfunction and the warning lights have been on for several years. With the massive number of vehicles of this make with a range of different mileage, with this issue, a recall is not only needed but warranted and should be mandated with this being a major safety issue.

Unknown since I have bought my 2008 BMW 328i I had one recalled fixed on my dash I have the air bag light and the brake light tire light service engine soon light on my door locks would work some times and then I had to open my car from the driver side manually then my drivers side window won't roll all the way up only half way then my car just wouldn't start out of the blue replace the starter ran for three weeks and wouldn't start again and has been sitting for a month now my passenger seat belt won't click in sometimes and my warranty is out but the recalls I have read are just what my car is doing I would like this matter to be looked in to and my car repaired at no cost its a safety issue an inconvenience and has cost me money wise extremely .

My BMW 2012 e92 model vehicle currently has a malfunctioning front seat occupancy airbag sensor mat is very similar to the recall for e60 to e91 models. BMW refuses to fix it under the other recall and I'm wondering what can be done to add it to the recall? I also read of an extended warranty for this part but I do not qualify since my model is e92. ( si b01 01 18) . Please advise.

The airbag light and seatbelt light came on randomly. The airbag sensor is off, and the “passenger airbag off” light is illuminated even when there’s somebody sitting in the car. This is a major safety issue, as the vehicle doesn’t recognize when somebody is sitting in the passenger seat and wont deploy airbags when there’s a wreck.

My vehicle's passenger restraint system has failed affecting the airbag's deployment, seat belt tensioners, and other safety components. The car currently has warnings on the dashboard in the form of lights and as warning messages in the infotainment system. Lights/warnings appeared randomly while driving qith no prior symptoms. This fault puts the safety of any passengers in my vehicle in jeopardy in the event of a collision. Car is available for inspection at anytime to confirm faults.

Reeves BMW in tampa, florida, said that vista BMW falsely reported that the airbags were replaced with non-takata bags and refused to install the correct ones with desiccant. I have proof that shows that the airbags were never available at that time and the vista BMW service manager himself told me that all he could do was replace it with another defective stock airbag until the replacements were available. After waiting two years without hearing from vista or any BMW representative, and eventually moving to tampa in 2018, I went to the BMW dealer here, reeves, who stated that vista had falsely reported that the "interim" airbag had been replaced and they refused to install the replacements. So now I keep the car unused in the garage, too scared to drive this bomb that can blow up at any time, and I cannot afford to junk a car that took me five years to pay off. Why has NHTSA not prosecuted BMW and not enforce this? how can I get BMW to replace the airbags with the correct ones with dessicant? please help, at wits end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

BMW either owes me a replacement safe airbag or a replacement car that has a safe airbag in it. I will gladly join any legal action to expose these criminals and hope you can do something for me before I die. The documents attached clearly show that the airbag was never replaced with a proper desiccant or drying agent.

The contact's mother owned a 2013 BMW 328i. The contact stated while driving 5 mph and approaching a traffic light, when another vehicle impacted the rear driver side door. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated she sustain a mild concussion, has neck, back and shoulder pains and stated she had numbness on the left leg and left arm. The contact was taken by an ambulance to the emergency room to seek medical attention. The contact stated that the other vehicle had a 10 and 4 year olds were also transported by ambulance to the emergency room to seek medical attention for their unknown inquires. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The insurance company deemed the vehicle total loss. The vehicle was towed to towing lot first and then to unknown location chosen by the insurance company. The contact called the local dealer and was made them aware of the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,373.

We were in a small fender bender and the air bag in this BMW f30 deployed - with some kind of powder and material coming out and burning the driver. Burns all over legs and on sensitive areas, burned all the way through his pants. The driver was lucky to have escaped with their life. These were confirmed to be takata air bags and we found out today 9/21/21 about a recall on the same air bags. The vehicle was unsafe during sale and serviced not even a a week before the fender bender - we serviced it at BMW and they did not recall or fully check the vehicle. These faulty air bags were ignored negligently. BMW does not want to repair the fault air bags because there is no official recall. We ask you add more models or assist us to this recall. A driver was injured and this continues to put drivers at risk.

When driving, get this error message on the screen when no passenger is sitting in the passenger seat - passenger restraint system: malfunction. Continue wearing safety belt. Seems like a big safety issue.

BMW of murietta will not honor the recalls.

My driver and passenger airbags deployed because my car all of the sudden lurched forward on it's own and I bumped the car in front of me and when it happened my car started accelerating and revving all on it's own into the car ahead and I was trying to make it stop by pushing the brakes but the brake pedal wouldnt move it was hard and wouldnt move so my car kept accelerating bumping the car in front of me over and over and I was stomping down on the brake pedal to make it stop but it wouldnt. After about 30 seconds of this it just stopped. The airbags were blowing out very hot air that burned and bruised my left arm very badley and myself and my minor passenger were choking from it. My driver side window and windshield were both broken from the explosion of the airbags but the body of my car wasn't damaged. I had noticed that sometimes the display in my car wouldnt show all the car controls but never imagined the car would malfunction like this. Now the repair shop wants the same amount of money that I initially paid for the car to repair it and my insurance is not covering it. Please help because this was not my fault the car malfunctioned.

My son was injured by the impact of an accident on may 30th, 2021. He was driving when a car sped past him, lost control, slammed into the center median guardrail, then into the drivers side door of my sons car. The impact was strong enough to dent and puncture a large hole in the door, yet the side impact air bags did not deploy. Nor did any other air bag. We still currently have the vehicle.

When a passenger sits in the front passenger seat, the passenger side airbag seat sensor triggers and illuminates the airbag light, deactivating the passenger airbag. After it is triggered, the light stays illuminated, along with the seat belt light, for several drive cycles, without a passenger present, before resetting. This is a sporadic issue, but rather frequent. It began, very occasionally, approximately a year ago, but has progressively become worse. My research has shown this is a very common issue with BMW vehicles; however, my vehicle is not covered under any previous recall, although the seats are the same part number as those addressed in prior recall notices.

1999 BMW 328i. Vehicle is registered and is a daily driver in massachusetts. While driving the vehicle on 05/01/2021 in the boston area on a smooth road at night, the driver side door & side curtain airbags deployed. No accident, no potholes, nothing out of the ordinary, just driving and then an explosion from airbags and the vehicle was also immobilized at the battery.

Code is coming up for passenger seat occupancy sensor which possibly affects airbag deployment in the event of a collision. It has been noted that the passenger seat occupancy sensor has been a part of prior BMW for 2008 and earlier.

The contact owns a 2007 BMW 328i. The contact stated that the passenger restraint system message had appeared on the instrument panel indicating an air bag failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v119000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The manufacturer had been notified of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I was driving the vehicle in the early morning still dark on a state road and raining very hard could not see out the windshield. I believe I hit a pot hole. That's when the side curtain deployed on the right side causing damage to the headliner and a pillar post. Unknown why it went off. I know there's a recall for the front airbags and some forums stated this has happened to them as well. I inspected the vehicle and I could not see any other damage to the vehicle.

Received display notification of "passenter-restraint system: fault in airbag, belt tensioner or belt fore limiter. Continue wearing safety belt. Consult nearest service center. " upon taking to service center, they mentioned there was no recall for airbag. Peace of mind placed at risk.

I started overheating and loosing alot a power.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 BMW 328i. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph when they began to press the brakes and slowed down a significant amount, the front of their vehicle where the front bumper is located, they had crashed into the rear bumper. Their vehicle had only received scuff marks on the bumper, however, all air bags, front and rear, had deployed. The contact stated they were the only passenger in the vehicle and there was no additional impact after the bumper bump. The contact stated that because the vehicle is designed to shut off at the sign of any impact, they were unable to restart their vehicle and therefore had it towed. A police report was not filed. The contact stated they only received an injury from the air bag on their right forearm. Medical attention was not needed. The contact contacted the dealer (BMW of las vegas 6900 w sahara Ave, las vegas, nv 89117; (702) 570-0279) who informed the contact that there were no recalls on their vehicle relating to the air bags. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall and opened a case regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was 159,000. Gl.

I got a passenger restraint failure light on my vehicle all of a sudden. Said lights turned on as I was turning to enter the highway route 2 in fitchburg MA. I have heard that this is an ongoing issue with Bmws since mid 2000s yet mines is not on recall. I have tried everything but can not correct the error. I am concerned of an airbag malfunction in the event of an accident. Hoping you can assist me with this issue.
