The contact owns a 2009 BMW 335xi. While driving 50 mph, an abnormal noise was heard and the reduce engine power indicator illuminated. The contact lost control of the vehicle and it fishtailed into a ditch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

2 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2012 BMW 335

Failure Date: 11/14/2015

The contact owns a 2012 BMW 335i. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise emitting from the vehicle and suddenly it stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vanos bolts were loose and fractured. The vehicle was not repaired due to it not being included in NHTSA campaign number 14v176000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

3 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2011 BMW 335

Failure Date: 10/14/2014

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 335i. The contact stated that the service engine warning lamp illuminated several times and the engine was riding extremely rough. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 14v176000 (engine and engine cooling), received the recall repair and within four months the failure recurred. The contact stated that the service engine warning lamp illuminated again and the engine was making a loud noise. The contact pulled the vehicle over and after several attempts it was able to restart which reset the computer. The contact later tried to start the vehicle and the key would not turn over. The vehicle was towed to the authorized dealer for further inspection and diagnosis. The recall remedy did not repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
