Driving my daughter from school on I 95 in connecticut near stamford at approximately 12 midnight, and noted chimes related to safety alerts following a particular strong bump in the road. First alert was that the abs and suspension system was inactive, next airbag was not functioning and then electrical charge was low. Attempted to find a safe place to stop the car; eventually all warning lights came on and all systems in the car began to fail - could not open windows, could not contact onstar, lights inside the car, speedometer, hazard lights, turn signals and the headlamps. Eventually used street lights to guide us to exit on I 287 in white plains, NY. Once we found a safe spot off the road, we turned off the car, because we did not know what the issue was (?engine, ?fire risk, ?would power steering / brakes fail next). Car towed at ~10 am to local Cadillac dealer.

Air bag warning light comes on. After doing some research on the internet it seems to be related to a wiring problem underneath the driver's seat. I confirmed this by moving the seat which causes the light to come on or go out. Since this is a safety related problem which might inactivate the air bags, I believe that this should be handled by a recall notice by gm and the burden to repair the loose wire connection should fall upon gm. The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Deville. The contact noticed that the check air bag warning light was illuminated. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for inspection. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the passenger seat air bag module and harness were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The current and failure mileages were 46,000.

The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Deville. On August 22, 2008, the contact inserted the key into the ignition and the air bags suddenly deployed. The deployment made a loud bang that startled him and his wife. The police and fire departments arrived and filed a report. The contact's wife sustained bruises on her body and face. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer for repair. Since the repair, all of the other warning lights are illuminated on the instrument panel. His wife is scared to drive the vehicle. They spoke with the Cadillac manufacturer, but they did not seem to care and offered no assistance. The vehicle was parked overnight in the contact's garage. The failure mileage was 21,743. 1. (a) my Cadillac (dhs-2002) operates in a dangerous and defective manner that could cause accidents. I have had the vehicle serviced no less than 16 times to fix equipment failures, including those which could be major safety issues, to no avail. (b) the airbag warning light has come on two separate occasions, though the bag never deployed. (c) the vehicle suddenly stalled when making turns. 2. (a) my vehicle contains "automatic rain sensors" for its windshield wipers. The wipers come on violently (highest level), even when not turned on, and though it is not raining. The danger is sudden distraction, which could easily cause an accident when merging with traffic and in other dangerous driving situations. They also come on suddenly when passing radio towers. The date set forth below is the first incident; it continues to happen. (b) the airbag warning light creates fear in the driver, as we are unsure as to if and when the airbag will deploy. If it where to deploy erroneously while we were driving, the results could be catastrophic. (c) on two occasions, while making turns in traffic, the vehicle stalled, which could have led to a serious accident. 3. (a) I have returned the vehicle to my dealer for service on numerous occasions. No parts have been replaced, nor has any repair been effected. It appears that this is a systemic issue, and I suspect that it affects all Cadillacs similarly equipped. (b) the airbags where replaced on two occasions which has, as least temporarily, solved the problem. (c) on two occasions, sensors were replaced which where allegedly the cause of the problem (last time this occurred was 5/25/05) the foregoing represent critical electronic system failures that could result in fatal accidents. The inability of gm to resolve the automatic wiper issue, together with multiple repairs of other sensors that caused major system failures requires investigation into the safety of this vehicle.

While driving on highway 55mph the passenger's side airbag deployed for no apparent reason. Prior to that, airbag warning light came on and was serviced by the dealer.
