The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1D7RB1GP9A_. There is a major difference between the 2004 and 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab child retraint upper tether straps. The 2004 model year does have the inner anchor strap ring(s) installed for attaching the child seat tether strap hook. The part number for the 2004 upper tether strap is 55350981-ab. The 2010 model upper tether strap is 52029441-aa. If you put these two parts side by side the mounting of the brackets appear to be the same as far as mounting is concerned in the vehicle. The bracket for the 2004 model appears to be shorter in length than the 2010 model but the overall length of the parts are about the same. The webbing material on the 2010 model is made of a heavier quality (coarse thread) webbing material and the 2004 model has a webbing material (fine thread) simular to standard seat belt material. Chrysler / Dodge has not followed this federal regulation for the upper tether anchorage on it’s 2010 Dodge ram quad cab 1500 truck. The current tether strap in the 2010 model vehicle could not be considered as a tether anchorage point. All child seats with upper tether straps have a metal hook for which to clip into a tether anchor. The metal hook on child seat tethers by design is not meant to be clipped onto a loop of webbing only. Some technical adviors from Chrysler / Dodge have informed me and my dealrship service manager on multiple occasions that the child seat tether hook is to be clipped onto the upper tether loop of webbing. However, if you utilize the 2010 model upper tether loop as child seat tether anchor the way in which this assembly is maufactured weakening of the webbing material could occur over time or during an accident because the webbing material would begin to be cut by the sharp edges of the bracket slot through which the webbing material goes through. It was 02/09/2011 when this integrated child seat belt issue happened.

The car was a 2010 Honda Accord. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1HGCP2F85A_. The car is brand new. I test drove the vehicle but didn't notice how uncomfortable the seat was in such a short drive. Now that I drive the car everyday to work, about a 45 minute commute each way, its obvious there must be some kind of design flaw. I've adjusted the seat every which way possible with same result, total discomfort. I hardly ever have back problems, now my back hurts everyday. My claim was substantiated when I decided to google the problem and found the same complaint by many other Honda owners from 2008 thru 2010. I just cannot believe that a company with such a great reputation for solid cars can let this go on and not acknowledge there's a problem. The failure date was 10/01/10.

The VIN of this Elantra is KMHDN56DX5_. The vehicle had a crash. Purchased 2005 Hyundai Elantra November 14, 2007. Dealership carfax showed 40,836 odometer miles. Dealership odometer disclosure statement showed 8,494. November 18, 2007 drove I-26 in columbia, SC. Drove on emergency strip to avoid debris on road. Rear end spun out and lost control of car. Crashed into 18 wheeler and pushed across interstate, up an embankment, under a catch fence and stopped on a service road. A total loss. Not until 11/29/07 that I was made aware of a possible recall on the steering linkage tie rod assembly. Air bag did not deploy. Dmv. Org report of 11/24/07 shows odometer reading 40,836 and no odometer problem title record. Carfax report stated no recalls reported. I contacted the dealerships headquarters about the odometer discrepancy. Shortly thereafter, the carfax info was changed showing odometer reading 8,584 and also they backdated information. Showed odometer discrepancy on the altered report. Just clerical errors? if we suffered a total loss, how come our air bags did not deploy? did we have a true steering linkage tie rod assembly failure? did we truly have 40,836 miles on our odometer? was scheduled maintenance up to date for 40,835 miles?. It was Nov. 18, 2007 when this integrated child seat belt issue occurred.

The car involved was a 2000 Mazda Mpv. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Mazda Mpv is JM3LW28G2Y_. This is of utmost concern for the safety of children in car-seats or booster seats. The seat belt anchors for the 2nd and 3rd row seats are of solid, inflexible construction. This inflexible construction combined with the placement of the anchors does not allow the safe installation of most infant car seats and toddler booster seats. Out of seven infant and booster seats tried, only one has been able to be installed somewhat correctly. The placement and inflexibility of the anchors requires that the lap portion of the seatbelt be located approximately 7 inches away from the intersection of the seat face and back. This acutally pulls a typical car seat away from the seat back and does not work safely. The failure date was Dec. 25, 1999.
