The vehicle involved is a 2009 GMC Acadia. The VIN of this vehicle is 1GKER13D59_. Driver side tensioner assembly, part number 19300368, broke from main wire meshing harness, exposing the retractor belt anchor plate to be free and lose. Seat belt is now a 2 point harness with the seat belt tongue clipping on the buckle on my right hip area and the pillar loop or seat belt adjuster as the other hard point, located above the left shoulder area. Other seat belt issue is located in the second row seat, passenger side. Part number is 19257112 belt kit, left side area of the seat which is near the left hip area. car   Seat Belt problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle having this issue was a 2014 GMC Acadia. The VIN of the problem Acadia is 1GKKRTKD0E_. General motors has announced a safety recall for this vehicle. The number for this campaign is 14187. Gm considers this defect serious enough to issue a "stop sell" for the affected vehicles. Nhtsa regulations provide the manufacturer a "reasonable" period of time to notify owners. Define reasonable! in 21 may 2014 gm refused to provide me any information with respect to resolution. On 22 may 2014 the dealers had not been informed of what actions would be required. In this day and age, for a defect serious enough to result in a stop sell order, there is no excuse for this level of delay. If my son is killed or injured as a result of inaction by gm or NHTSA, the consequences will not be pleasant. Also be advised I have yet to receive notification of gm recall number 14007 announced on 05 may 2014. I demand more timely action from NHTSA and gm with respect to recall number 14187. Conduct yourselves accordingly. This problem occurred on 05/22/14.

car   Seat Belt problem of Hyundai Sonata

I had not had very many riders in the front passenger seat of my 2007 Hyundai Sonata until I went to upstate NY for a family reunion. During my 2 week stay in NY I had passengers riding in the front seat on numerous occasions. When I was returning home to CT I noticed that my red "air bag" light was on. From that point it has been on continuously. I called lia Hyundai in hartford, CT and they said they would have to do a diagnostic test to determine the cause and since my vehicle was not under warrantee, I would have to pay for the test and any repairs. I opted to not have the test and repairs done. In 2013 I received a notice from Hyundai about a recall involving the front passenger seat and air bag deployment and warning light. I had moved to FL in April of 2013 and after I had settled in, I called cocoa Hyundai in cocoa, FL. The service department told me that if my air bag light was on continuously, any repairs would be covered under the recall. On 7-25-13 I brought my car to cocoa Hyundai to do a diagnostic test. After a wait of around 2 hours, the service manager told me that the cause of the air bag light staying on continuously was a sensor in the front passenger seat's seat belt buckle. He said this repair was not covered under the recall and it would cost me $481 to repair. I opted not to have the repair done because the quote to repair a seat belt buckle ($481) was outrageously high. I have since been notified by Hyundai that cocoa Hyundai did not follow the protocol for this air bag/passenger seat recall which required the dealer to remove the seat, have it sent out for testing and provide the owner with a loaner car. I am on a 4 month waiting list to have the proper test at cocoa Hyundai. This issue happened on Wednesday, August 10, 2011.

car   Seat Belt problem of Land Rover Range Rover

The car was a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. Our 2014 Range Rover sport passenger side airbag indicator deactivates intermittently during multiple trips at highway speeds with an adult in the passenger seat. After 7-12 minutes the indicator light near the sunshade button will illuminate to note the passenger airbag has been deactivated or is not operational; even though the passenger is sitting correctly and maintaining constant weight on the seat. Moving around the seat or shifting weight from one side to the other will not extinguish the indicator light; however briefly unbuckling the seat belt while the vehicle is moving and then quickly buckling the seat belt will cause the indicator light to shut off for 7 to 12 minutes. After this unbuckling and buckling process has been completed the light will come on again. The Land Rover dealership inspected this vehicle and found no problems with the passenger air bag sensors. Land rover also never mentioned to me that this issues has occurred with other Range Rover vehicles. On another note, the air bag indicator light is severly underilluminated. Very difficult yo see during the day and there is no other visual or audio queue to the driver that the passenger air bag has been deactivaited. This is troubling because you may never notice the issue unless it occurs at night, but even then it is still difficult to see in the dark. Bc. It was 02/07/2014 when this seat belt issue happened.

car   Seat Belt problem of Lexus ES300

The vehicle is a 2013 Lexus Es300. Crash was involved with this problem. Car has brake pedal characteristic which allows the brake pedal to reach full stop of the end of full mechanical travel (vs. Hydraulically limited by brake pressure) and the brakes are no longer able to apply more braking force. This characteristic of this car model is directly linked with the causation of the collision and was certainly a major surprise to the owner as this event was occurring. No such warning provided to consumers with this particular braking issue in Lexus Es300h. Characteristic is endemic to the model as tested in other identical models by the owner. Steering wheel airbag (one of several that deployed in this total loss accident) did not prevent owner from physically striking the steering wheel even though he was utilizing the seat belt. Chest forcefully struck steering wheel, which should not have occurred and should be accounted for in the design and manufacture of this safety restraint system. The owner was not properly restrained from impacting the steering wheel which inflicted serious bodily injury. Furthermore, he was able to observe the engine hood of the vehicle fold up during the impact and so no visual obstruction occurred in the moments of impact and air bag deployment. The air bag did not properly cover the steering wheel to prevent steering wheel blunt force trauma. Seat belts should have restrained the owner from hitting the steering wheel which it did not do. The owner always had the seat positioned well away from the steering wheel. Through a combination of the air bag design, and the seat belts and brakes not working in a manner they are expected to do so, the owner was seriously injured. The brakes on the car feature typical anti lock capability, which would make the brake pedal pulsate upon activation. No such pulsation occurred during this pre-accident and accident deceleration. The failure date was Tuesday, Jun. 18, 2013.

car   Seat Belt problem of Lexus LS430

The car was a 2005 Lexus Ls430. The car had a crash. I have owned car since new. All service performed by same dealer on time. All repairs done as suggested by dealer. Air bags recall performed in 2006. New brakes within 6 months. Driving to my wife"s work (airport) on same route for 38 years (37 miles from residence). I observed red light and cars stopped 100 yards ahead 1/4 mile from destination. I applied brakes several times to no avail. I told my passengers that I could not stop and applied brakes several times again. Brakes did not go to floor. It felt as though cruise control was on - it wasn't. I avoided a few cars by steering to curb and sidewalk. I observed a light post on sidewalk and had to turn into traffic hitting two cars. A motor policeman was directly behind me and said no brake lights came on. No air bags deployed and left side rear passenger's seat belts failed. Car was totaled. My two passengers (my wife and her CO worker) were taken by ambulance to hospital. This issue happened on 02/17/14.

The car was a 2006 Mazda Miata. My car was parked at work. It was raining. When I got into the vehicle, it was flooded on the inside up to 6 inches. The gas pedal was slippery. They told me to trade the car in if I was having problems. I told them they sold me a flood car and wanted to return it. They refused. This was carmax in sanford, FL. Since that time, the car has flooded over 25 times. I am now living with roaches breeding in my car. It smells like mold. The windows are fogged from the inside daily. The seats have gotten stuck and then slide out of place while I'm driving. My insurance company, geico, refused to help me, stating that this damage probably occurred before I owned the car. I called Ford right away, went in and set up an appointment. Ford claims there is no recall on my vehicle. It is a 2001, and I just recently bought it from a family member. Just prior to all of this happening, I was hit while waiting at a red light in my small Honda. Ironically, if it wasn't for the fact that my son and I had on seat belts, we would have been seriously injured. Now, I'm depending on the Grand Marquis to get around. As of date I have not located any additional recall notices from SAAB regarding the seat belts on the 2004 9-3 aero. For safety reason's I no longer use the lest side passenger seat in my vehicle as now the seat belt does not retract at all. This seat belt problem happened on Sun., Feb. 28, 2010.

car   Seat Belt problem of Suzuki SX4

The vehicle was a 2008 Suzuki Sx4. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Suzuki Sx4 is JS2YC14188_. Sx4 air bags recall number: 13v405000 recall date: 09/06/2013 problem summary: Suzuki motor of America, inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2006-2011 grand vitara and 2007-2011 Sx4 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, over time, the OCS sensor mat installed in the front passenger seat may fail due to repeated flexing of the mat from use of the seat. As a result, during a crash necessitating deployment, the air bag will deploy regardless of whether the front seat occupant is an adult or a child. Consequence: air bag deployment with a child in the front passenger side seat increases the risk of injury to that child. Corrective action: Suzuki will notify owners and dealers will replace the front passenger seat cushion assembly (which includes the OCS sensor mat) free of charge. Sufficient quantities of parts are not currently available to fix all of the affected vehicles. Owners will be notified of the recall in October 2013 and will receive a second notification when parts are available to have their vehicle repaired. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's recall campaign number is vd. This seat belt problem happened on Sunday, October 13, 2013.

car   Seat Belt problem of Volkswagen EOS

The car is a 2009 Volkswagen Eos. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is WVBA71FX9V_. The leaking on this historically defective hardtop convertible has caused yet another problem. My vehicle was entirely flooded, and the dealer and manufacturer say it is nearly a total loss. This has been a continual problem since the model was introduced and Volkswagen has declined to deal with it. My particular car can be driven right now, but may stop running at any time due to the water that has seeped into vital parts, such as brakes and engine. This seat belt issue occurred May. 15, 2014.

car   Seat Belt problem of Volkswagen Beetle

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle. Airbag service light on dash came on. This means the airbags were disabled. Dealership identified the seat belt clasp on the driver seat as the problem. The electronics in the clasp were not communicating correctly causing the airbag to be disabled. The seatbelt as a safety mechanism itself was not compromised. The dealership representative indicated that this was a known and common issue with this vehicle make and model and that the fix was to replace the seatbelt clasp at a cost of about $300. 00. The cause of the seatbelt clasp to fail was the motion of moving the seat backwards and forwards. To access the rear seats of the car the seat must be moved backwards and forwards as it is a two door car. Overtime, this activity wore out some electronics in the clasp causing the airbag to be disabled. This is not a normal wear and tear item that is customarily replaced such as tires, brake pads or wiper blades. The manufacture should recognize this critical safety issue and offer to voluntarily recall the vehicles and/or offer to pay for a fix in our case. This problem occurred on 05/20/2014.

car   Seat Belt problem of Volvo XC90

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Volvo Xc90. I entered the car and attempted to put on the driver's seat belt. It would not release from its housing (inside the panel above my left shoulder). It made a strong clicking noise, as if it had locked up. I made numerous other attempts to put on my seat belt, with the engine turned on, turned off, car in park, car in drive, car moving. No change. I feel this is a serious safety issue. When I called Volvo, they told me that seatbelts were only covered under a 5 year warranty. I would expect seatbelts to have mandatory lifetime warranties, required by law. I am surprised to find that this is not the case. This seat belt problem happened on Mar. 28, 2014.

car   Seat Belt problem of Volvo S60

The vehicle having this issue was a 2012 Volvo S60. Crash was involved with this problem. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is YV1622FS6C_. On August 24, 2013, I was involved in a car accident. A car stopped short on the highway. The car in front of me hit that car. I then hit the car in front of me. I had only a few seconds to react. Another car then re-ended me. My airbag nor seatbelt pretentioners deployed. I had difficulty turning the car off. The car was totaled. Within a few weeks of the incident, I reported the matter to Volvo. They sent an investigator out. Volvo claims that sensors were not activated since the damage was above them, and there was not any problem. However, at the speed I hit, there is no excuse for why the airbags should not have deployed. Either the car is designed improperly in terms of where the sensors are placed or there is a manufacturing defect. As I understand it, other S60s (not my vid#) have been recalled for an electrical problem that could cause airbags not to deploy. It was 08/24/13 when this seat belt issue occurred.

car   Seat Belt problem of BMW 5 Series

The car involved is a 2007 BMW 5 Series. I had an on & off issue since last week of this year about the airbag & seatbelt warning being illuminated on the dashboard & overhead console of my 2007 BMW 530 xi. It will stay on for a while as I start the car but will turn off by itself after driving a few miles. Now since last week the warning light stays on. The idrive screen shows " pass. Restraints system fault in passenger-restraints system affecting the airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter. Continue to wear the seatbelt. Have the system checked by BMW service center". I did some research online about this issue & found out that there is recall NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000. I called BMW of tenafly and informed them about the issue I'm having on my vehicle but I was told that the VIN# of my car is not associated with the recall even though it falls into the same category of make, model & year of vehicles being recalled with the same problem. This is a very serious defect and definitely a safety concern that needs to be addressed. This problem occurred on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.

car   Seat Belt problem of BMW 535

The car is a 2008 BMW 535i. While driving under speed limit of 50mph on expressway, had to slam brakes to prevent hitting a red light runner. My 12year old son was in the rear left passenger seat, with seat belt on, was thrown forward but used his hands to cushion the impact. Luckily he suffered no injuries except for the scare. On checking the seat belt ,it was found to be have a defective latch. Took it to BMW fremont for inspection, they too found the seat belt latch defective and ordered a new one. The car is used mostly for work commute hence the low mileage of 21250 for a nearly six year old car and rarely has any rear passengers, therefore the seat belt defect must have been there on production. We are very lucky to find the defective seat belt in a minor incident, if it was a major accident my child or any anyone in that seat could have been seriously injured or worse. Reported the incident to BMW customer relations officer, so far only sympathies were offered. It was Saturday, Apr. 12, 2014 when this seat belt issue occurred.

car   Seat Belt problem of Jaguar XF

The vehicle having this issue was a 2011 Jaguar Xf. Crash was involved with this problem. We were driving north on I-75 and exited at highway m-24. As we turned rt. , the left front tire lost air pressure (lt. Front car tire was recently changed and not sure proper sealant was used when installing new tire) and the car suddenly shot to the left and we went over an embankment into a ditch for approx. 20 feet then shot up and over an expressway entrance ramp into a steel barrier. The seat belts were on both of us and the airbags deployed. We both suffered severe blunt force body trauma and had to be taken by ems to the local hospital. Recovery has been slow as whip lash and back injuries just don't seem to want to heal. On another note, my right ear was damaged by the explosion from the air bag deployment and now I have high shrill ringing 24/7 and can't sleep. I have been to hearing specialists and they say it is tenitius (spelling) but there does not seem to be any solution. Does anyone in government have any solutions? this is driving me crazy. It was Saturday, September 15, 2012 when this seat belt issue occurred.
