In motion on city streets or highways several warning lights appear on the dash and just randomly turn on and turn off the stabiliser leg traction control time on their system check engine abs light and airbag light all the lights come on and go off whenever they want. The play is on macy mother the one connection that goes to gets extremely hot it don't wanna come on you have to move around and get it come on and goes off randomly as well.
My dash cracked right by the airbag and has caused my airbag warning light to come on. Now my airbag warning light toggles between on and off. My dash continues to fall apart even with a dash mat covering it. I don't know if my airbag will deploy if needed. Plus I worry about shards of plastic hurting me or my family. Gm needs to do something. I don't know the exact day the crack showed up but I notice it in January 2017 while getting a stuffed animal out of the truck. Over the past months, the cracks have gotten worse to the point there is a hole in the dash from the shaking while I driving and nothing being secure.

Instrument panel "airbag" warning light (red continuously on) illuminated. After first incident initial engine ignition start bit (built in test) clears airbag fault for no more than 1 minute every start sequence at which time it triggers a "red dash warning icon light. " I took vehicle to dealer who claimed necessary fix is owners responsibility and expense. They also declared they had "no knowledge of chevy Avalanche or silverado airbag recalls or issues. " I called gm customer service help line and lodged a complaint. Case number with gm is 71-148283766. Gm stated that they did not feel responsible for the issue. Both the 2007-08 chevy silverado's' as well as the 2011 plus chevy Avalanches are all under dot takata airbag recalls. The 2009 chevy Avalanche is a growth product of the chevy 2008 silverado!!! I believe I am one of the takata airbag customers!!.
About 18 months ago the airbag warning light in my 2002 Avalanche illuminated and has remained on since. I have the Avalanche in the shop for other work and asked that they check the cause of the steady airbag warning light. The diagnosis is that the electrical contact system within the steering wheel is inop and that all airbags in the vehicle will not deploy. Cost of replacement part(s) is about $700. As far as I know at the moment the impact sensors are functional.

I was involved in motor vehicle accident on the date of Nov 21,2013. I was pulling out of a parking lot, I was hit by an on coming mid sized SUV traveling at a high rate of speed. The crash caused a large amount of damage to the SUV as well as a large amount of damage to my 2007 Avalanche. The impact hit my front drivers corner. My air bags did "not" deploy!!!! there is now a warning light on my dash info center. I got that info from the ins adjuster who called to let me know the truck is going to be repaired. My concern is that why didn't my air bags deploy??? I have been doing some reading and there seams to be a major issue with gm's Avalanche models and air bag issues. It is well documented on several web site threw out the internet. I even found some info on service notices posted by gm to dealers. If gm knows this is a safety issue why has there not been a national recall? I was involved in a major accident and did not have the added benefit of the safety devices that are supposed to save my life I paid for that added safety in the high purchase price of my truck. Why didn't they work like they are intended to???? thank the lord it was just me in the truck!! god forbid had my family been in the truck with me, I can't imagine the out come!!! something needs to be done, there is clearly a safety issue with these systems. Gm knows there is a problem but has done nothing to solve it. What will it take??? a death??? I certainly hope not!!!! I suffered some injuries, none internal but I am still recovering, I wonder if they would have been minimized had my air bags worked like they should have! I am thankful that I'm still here for my family and that none of them were with me in the truck during this accident. Please address this issue before some one looses their life or that of a loved one! gm needs to fix this ASAP! please!!!.
On occasion the airbag warning light would come on, usually while driving. On subsequent starts, no light was displayed. Eventually the light would stay on for several days. I assumed this was a manufacturer initiated alert to have the airbags checked after 100,000 miles. When I next brought my vehicle in for an oil change service, I asked the adviser to have the airbags checked because of the warning light. He told me that when the light was on the airbags were inoperative! I told him to get it corrected. After 90 minutes my car was returned with the notice that a preliminary check did not uncover the cause, and I would have to return the vehicle at another time and expect to incur several hours of trouble shooting to determine the cause. Since my truck was out of warranty, I would be responsible to parts and labor. I cannot understand why an inoperative airbag system is not a safety recall issue. Perhaps if government motors was privately held, the actual government would force the manufacturer to repair all such safety related issues.

I was involved in an accident on 02/22/2010. A very large ice chest flew out of a vehicle several cars ahead of me on the highway. Traffic was going around 55 - 60 mph. The first car slammed on their brakes, trying to avoid the ice chest. The car behind crashed into them and so on. I was the last vehicle in the collision. I stood on my brakes and made every effort to stop before crashing into the truck in front of me. I crashed into the back of the Ford f-250, inflicting minimal damage to their tailgate. The front of my Avalanche was crushed. It was a full front crash - with a little more damage to the driver's side than the passenger side. The front tire on the driver's side was cut in the crash. The passenger side a/c vent was jammed by the accident. I had injury to my c-spine, knees, arms, chest, etc. The air bag should have deployed. I was wearing my seat belt, so I didn't hit the windshield. But had that failed, I would have been more seriously injured. The Avalanche is in the body shop now. There is no warning light, code or other indication of a problem with the air bags. At this point, I have no faith in my air bags in the event of an accident. I'd rather not wait for a fatal accident to prove that there is a problem.
I have had my sensor light and the warning light that says "service airbags" come on and it won't go off. I have been on a few auto forums about this and there are hundreds of people with the same problem. The dealers can't seem to figure out what it is and people are spending hundreds of dollars to get it fixed, but it doesn't.
The airbag warning light comes on intermittenly. Because this is related to one of the vehicles saftey features it seems like the TSB (050941001) for this issue should be a recall. Especially since the dealership refuses to fix this problem without a commitment from the owner to pay for a diagostic check and then fight them to pay.
When starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated and remained on until the vehicle was shut off.
"service airbag system" display on vehicle information readout first appeared around ten years ago. Brought to dealer multiple times for diagnostics and repair (code b0026) but have not been able to correct this safety system defect. Vehicle is way out of warranty and attempting to repair items that have not been able to be fixed under warranty does not seem financially sound. Airbag warning light and "service airbag system" display have been constantly on since 2008.
