1 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 12/08/2016

There was a manufacturer's recall in August 20, 1999 for 2000 chevy Blazers: the brake pipe union fittings that feed the various brake system components may leak and cause a loss of braking function and need an additional stopping time. Dealers will inspect the brake pipe union for signs of leaking brake fluid and replace the union if necessary. Our vehicle is a 1999 Blazer that appears to have the same problem, but Chevrolet claims there wasn't a recall issued for our vehicle. We think it should have been included. Our vehicle doesn't stop when the brakes are applied, but needs a longer stopping time and distance. It is an unsafe condition. Original recall from the NHTSA manufacturer's report date: August 20, 1999 NHTSA campaign id number: 99v220000.

2 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 02/10/2013

I just picked up my 1997 chevy Blazer oct 31, 2012 with 79000 miles on it. I noticed that there was a large amount of corrosion buildup on the under carriage of the vehicle. Luckily yesterday, while sitting in my driveway, I noticed brake fluid leaking behind the driver's side door. Under closer inspection, I found out that the rear brake line was severely corroded and had burst. Now I cannot drive my Blazer until I get this fixed. With this leak, I inspected the rest of my brake lines to which I've found both my front brake lines in a severely corroded state as well waiting to burst. This is a great safety issue.
