2 Brake Light On problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

I've owned this vehicle for one year. I am having trouble with the brake light constantly coming on, even driving down the road it comes on. Had the brakes replaced and fluid is good but it constantly comes on. At the same time I had my mechanic look because on occasion when it's put into park, it shuts itself off.

3 Brake Light On problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 12/30/2013

Any time I am driving my fuel gauge goes crazy. I never know how much fuel I actually have because it constantly goes up and down. I've ran out of gas a few times because it shows I have 1/4 tank or more and then it'll just go down all the way, then shoot up 3/4 tank and so on. When I'm coming to a stop, especially in small downhills, my brake pedal starts vibrating and barely slows down. I get nervous all the time because I'm afraid my car will not stop. It also does this if I'm starting to brake, and one of the wheels hits a small bump in the road, then it's almost impossible to brake normally because the brake pedal starts vibrating, the abs brakes light comes on, and my car will not slow down which is very scary especially if I have my 3 year old in the car.

4 Brake Light On problem of the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

Brake performance had started to degrade on last trip to lake place (200 miles round trip). Pedal seemed softer than normal brake warning light came on and stayed lit. . Once at home check fluid which was low. Added some fluid. Brake light went out tried several hard stops in drive way and pedal travel went almost to floor. Observed brake fluid on the ground adjacent to fuel tank on drivers side. Drivers side frame rail was wet with brake fluid. Further investigation revealed dirt packed around rear brake line on top of ramp rail. Brake line was found to be severely degraded on top of the frame rail extending all the way to the junction with the rubber rear splitter line. Had to replace line from junction at rear splitter up to the junction at the frame rail near the front drivers side tire. Very disturbing to have a two foot section of brake line so severely compromised. This seems to be a common problem and related to the build up of compacted dirt on the frame rail carrying the rear brake line. Should be a recall or at least a notification to have the area inspected for compromised bake lines.

I have a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer with brake lights and flashers that do not work. The center brake light and turn signals work ok. There is a recall for this same problem description but I was told that my VIN number is not covered by it. The problem I have and the recall problem are identical. 13 Brake Light On problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 12/07/2004

Abs light came on, then brake light came on. When I tried to stop I almost rear-ended car in front of me because brakes were not properly working. Brake pedal was hard to push down. Happened twice within 4 blocks of my home and I have not driven vehicle since even though a mechanic told me it should still be safe to drive. I had new brakes (including parking brake repairs) and new bearings done less than 2 years ago. I spoke with a chevy mechanic who told me modifications had been made to 99 Blazer abs because of problems. We have owned this vehicle since late 1999/early 2000 (it had 16,000 miles when we purchased it) and have never received notice of this problem. We also have had additional problems with electrical system (dealer repaired), the wheel bearings as stated above, and the seat reclining levers breaking off (which dealer repaired once but then would not repair again). While checking the internet regarding this problem I found reference of a recall for the abs in 1999. I do not believe it was corrected on this vehicle and also there was no mention of recalls when we bought it from the dealer in 1999/2000.

14 Brake Light On problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 08/01/2001

Every place I have contacted about these repairs has stated they are aware of these two product-wide part defects. Per scott at darryl burke, the mf switch has been going out on most affected vehicles, which has been a product-wide failure, prior to the 36ooo mile warranty limit. Per jr at atlantic Ave. Tire in cary, nc, 919 872-0786, he and his supplier are aware of the broad mf switch failures which cause loss of rear brake lights and could now be the main factor contributing to many accidents. Also, scott at darryl burke's svc dept told me today not to bother spending $340 to replace the seat adj levers as they will just break again as there has not been a product upgrade issued to fix the root cause of this product wide problem. If the seat can not be adjusted so that the driver is comfortable and has optimum visibility, this problem can contribute to driver error and accidents.

15 Brake Light On problem of the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 07/01/2000

In approximately, July, 2000, (unfortunately, I cannot remember the exact date) the anti-lock brake light came on on the said vehicle. I checked the websites for both Chevrolet and NHTSA to see if any recalls had been called. On the website it stated that there had been for 1991-1996. When I contacted Chevrolet via telephone, they denied that this information was on their website and stated that it was only up to the year 1995. They stated that they would have to have a certain amount of complaints before a recall could be made on a certain vehicle year. I stated my frustration with the represenative and told her that I would make every attempt to receive what I felt I was due. After several calls and headaches, they finally sent a recall notice. I took the vehicle to gibson Chevrolet in south holland, illinois who replaced a switch and said they were done. When I began to leave, I noticed that the anti-lock light was still on. I went back into the service department and told them that the light was still on and the gentleman stated that what they had repaired would not prevent the light from being on. After several conversational circles, I questioned whether or not the vehicles anti-lock braking system was operational and I was told "no" " we could run a diagnostic check , but you would have to pay for it. " now, it was around the same time that I reported that my light had come on when the braking system failed. In addition to that I had approximately 7 brake pad changes in a period of 16 months at a local repair shop. My concern is that if the light came on at the time recalls were being made, why does this vehicle not qualify for not only the switch to be repaired but for the entire system. At this time, I am extremely concerned that since the anti-locks are non-functional and the pads continue to wear, that I may be in danger. They show minimal concern to the welfare of their clients. I feel robbed as well as cheated. Please help me.
