Radley Chevrolet did not provide us with a recall notice on brake lights not working. We have had problems with our 2000 Chevrolet Blazer from the start. We have been now told that the idler arm on the car is a safety hazard. We also had the fuel gauge go out. How often do these components go out. Can you tell me anything about the idler arm and is there any recalls for this item.
I bought my chevy Blazer in may of 2001. We had a recall for the
exterior lighting: brake lights: switch. We brought it back to the
dealer we bought it from and they did replace it. We are having the
problems with the same part once again (no brake lights). We called the
dealer and they're telling us this part is not covered. If there's
still a problem with it, which I understand we're not the only ones
reporting this, why wouldn't this be covered? my husband has owned his
gm truck for over 10 years and has never had to replace this part. Why
would a newer vehicle have to replace it twice within a 4 year period?
please advise.

Gm should correct thr real problem and not just the parts. Also the passange seat adjuster has broken off. And in addition the transmission failed and had to be replaced under warranty.

I later found out there is a recall for the same year vehicle, on the same part, with the same problems as we have experience, however the VIN # of our vehicle is not included in the recall because our vehicle was manufactured at a different plant.
1) rear brake lights and saftey hazzard lights fail do to an open circuit caused by switch malfunction 2) rear brake lights do not operate and no malfunction is displayed on instrumentation display. The loss of stop lamps and hazard lamps could fail to warn a following driver that the vehicle is braking and/or is stopped, and could result in a crash. 3) had gm dealer repair hazard switch assemby. Nhtsa recall no. 01v364/gm recall no. 01073 has been issued on some 2002 chevy Blazers, but the VIN number for this car was not included in the recall list.

Wires leading to light shorted out (cracked inside jacket). As a result light stopped functioning. Light assembly with attached wire harness was replaced. I suspect that the flexing of the wires each time the rear window was open/closed was the cause of the wire failure.
