2023: 16k miles, the Chevrolet Blazer in questions transmission went out; thus requiring it to be brought into the dealership for repair; it was "repaired" and given back to us. A few days after said repair, I was driving it with my son in the vehicle, and the transmission went out while on the highway. I was almost hit from behind as I limped it to the side of the road. A brand new transmission was put in. During this time, there was also issues with the brakes where they were making noises. 2025: Blazer check engine light came on. On the way to get it diagnosed, it began to overheat; we were limping it to the side of the road when it stated "engine overheating, vehicle turning off". The safety system for shutting down when overheating worked, however, I was in the roaad again. Thus putting me in danger of being hit. We just received notice from the dealership that it is (as of this moment) a cooling fan, ac pressure switch, thermostat, and a cracked radiator. We are waiting on the technicians to finish checking it to see if there are any other issues.

I am not comfortable with this car, I took this car to the dealership to get fixed and checked on recalls but they could not fix the most important and most dangerous recall. They worked on recall#n252492430 and recall #n242468490 from frank villasenor # (056) 750027017. When I got there, no one gave me an update of the car they only gave me a receipt with 3 pieces of paper and that is it. What can I do in this case? I can not drive this car knowing the brakes will go out and I might have an accident and crash.

After getting the recall repaired (which I was never informed of and I had the parking brake engage as I was travelling 30 mph causing me to skid down the road) I got the vehicle back and the very next day it was the same issue and the abs and traction control light came on and it began making loud clicking noises every time I would engage the brake.
My 2021 Chevrolet Blazer experienced brake failure while driving, without any warning lights or diagnostic alerts from the vehicle’s onboard system prior to. This created a very dangerous situation for myself and others on the road, including my family who was in the car as well. Prior to this incident, I brought the vehicle to the dealership not long after purchasing it because I was constantly hearing screeching noises when braking. I thought it was rather soon to need new brakes, considering I purchased the vehicle brand new, but the issue was dismissed without any further inspection. This most definitely resulted in a missed opportunity to diagnose what is seemingly a more well known mechanical failure common among gm manufactured parts. After the brake failure, service technicians discovered that the vacuum pump had failed, causing the brakes to fail which led to engine damage by projecting shrapnel into the engine. This has rendered a $35,000 car purchase useless after 4 years of use without a $10,000 repair. I find this highly unethical. Upon further investigation, I learned that gm has previously acknowledged vacuum pump failures in several vehicles manufactured between 2014–2018 and even recalled certain models. The 2021 chevy Blazer should be included in the list because failures of this part can lead to harm, injury, or loss of life. The documented defects in older gm models is consistent with my experience. I got oil changes and service regularly. The dealership should not have been so quick to dismiss the the brakes, knowing the history of these parts and the warning signs. This issue should be taken seriously as it is likely more widespread and is a ticking time bomb. Loss of life should not be the catalyst to trigger action in this situation. Other consumers are likely at risk without knowing it.

I am reporting a serious safety concern involving my 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, which experienced brake failure while driving, without any warning lights or diagnostic alerts from the vehicle’s onboard system. This created a highly dangerous situation for myself and others on the road. Prior to this incident, I brought the vehicle to the dealership after consistently hearing squealing or screeching noises when braking. The issue was dismissed and attributed to a change in federal regulations limiting the use of copper in brake pads—without any further inspection. This resulted in a missed opportunity to diagnose what appears to be a deeper mechanical failure. After the brake failure, service technicians discovered that the vacuum pump had failed, which impacted braking performance and also caused engine damage. While I’ve since learned that gm has acknowledged vacuum pump failures in several vehicles manufactured between 2014–2018 (via formal recalls), the 2021 chevy Blazer is not currently included in those campaigns however, the symptoms and outcome I experienced are strikingly similar to the documented defects in older gm models. The lack of early diagnostic detection, coupled with dealership dismissal of clear warning signs, signals a potential emerging safety defect in this newer model that may not yet be officially recognized. Given the safety-critical nature of the braking system and the failure of both mechanical and procedural safeguards, I strongly urge NHTSA to investigate whether this issue is more widespread in recent gm models, including the 2021 Blazer. Other consumers may be at risk without knowing it.
Car slams on brakes randomly. If the cannot sell or dealer trade these vehicles, why r they permitted to allow us to keep driving a dangerous vehicle. My service manager is at a total loss , and this auto is dangerous.
I have been waiting for months for my recall to be completed. My dealership has been waiting for the parts from gm and they still haven’t received them. I’m not sure when the recall was initially issued but I contacted the dealership about it as soon as I was aware of it. That’s how long I’ve been waiting. 1 unrepaired recalls associated with this VIN Jun 25,2025 manufacturer recall numbern252503010 NHTSA recall number25v433 recall statusrecall incomplete.
This has happened to me numerous times where I’m driving and out of nowhere the car shortstops it is a danger to drive this car. And I have called gm over and over and they don’t want to do anything about it.
The vehicle’s brakes failed while I was driving. I was luckily able to steer the vehicle off the road narrowly avoiding hitting another car. We had the vehicle towed to a chevy dealer and they told us the fault was due to a low voltage battery. They would also not drive the vehicle until the battery was replaced because it was giving an error message of “brake system failure”. The dealer is the only place that has inspected the vehicle at this time. The warning messages appeared at the time of failure and not before. I find this to be a manufacturing defect in need of a recall as this could have easily caused harm or loss of life.
On April 7, 2025 while backing out of the driveway, my son's car abruptly stopped. The manhole cover at the end of our driveway triggered the emergency braking system. My head was slammed against the headrest and caused a great deal of pain in my head. On April 15, 2025, I went to kaiser and was told that I have a concussion.
This problem is with a 2023 r/s/ awd Blazer: when there is wet slippery snow, and I apply the brakes normally the system immediately goes to rapid clicking of the abs system activated on the front brakes and I hear no clicks from the rear wheels. From the time of the abs being activated the front wheels go into a slide and the rear wheels only roll along with no braking action as I have opened my driver's door and watched the driver's rear wheel while activating the brakes. I have been to the dealer two times, and they find nothing wrong. I found on the internet one other person complaining with the same issues as me on a 2021 r/s awd Blazer. When this happens, it is a accident waiting to happen situation.

Addition to case #[xxx] read the following response from Chevrolet care at the end of this email about my braking problem. Take note that Chevrolet is admitting that in a case like mine (wet, slippery snow conditions) I only have basically two wheel braking and those two wheels (tires) are sliding during the complete stop. This happens when driving in town (20 -25 mph) the rear wheels as Chevrolet says have a drag effect, (basically no braking) Chevrolet has created a crash hazard with this over engineered braking system when used in wet slippery snow conditions. Thank you [xxx] see enail from Chevrolet cares hello [xxx], thank you for your patience and for providing this information. We received an update from your dealership, bergstrom Chevrolet of manitowoc, who advised the following: the system is functioning as normal. Brake pad thickness was measured at 8mm on all 4 wheels. The abs system doesn't activate on all 4 wheels unless there is a total loss of traction across all four wheels which would indicate a total loss of control. With two wheels activating and the rear wheels still spinning is allowing for the retention of control by allowing for braking to the rear wheels but at a lesser degree to create stability and drag (braking) to maintain control and steering capabilities during the loss of traction at the front end. The abs system does allow for the adjustment of braking power to specific wheels in an effort to maintain proper traction and steering prior to the emergency systems engaging in the event of a slide. The dealership is our eyes and ears on the ground, and I will stand by their judgement. However, if you feel strongly against the dealership's judgement, it is to your discretion on what dealership you would like to work with. Please note, this does not guarantee a different resolution. Please let me know if you wish to visit another gm location for further assistance, we're here to help. Tea Chevrolet customer care information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information.
Multiple safety-critical malfunctions have occurred on this vehicle involving unintended braking, unintended acceleration, and false activation of driver-assist systems. These events did not happen at the same time and occurred under normal driving conditions. At various points, the vehicle has suddenly applied the brakes without driver input, including hard braking events that felt like an automatic emergency braking activation when no hazard was present. In separate incidents, the parking brake has engaged while the vehicle was in motion, causing abrupt deceleration. There have also been instances of unintended acceleration where the vehicle surged forward briefly without additional throttle input. These malfunctions appear to be related to electrical or adas system faults affecting braking logic and propulsion control. No warning lamps or messages reliably appeared before these events. The issues pose a serious risk to the safety of the driver and others because the vehicle’s behavior is unpredictable and can interfere with safe control. The dealership was unable to reproduce the conditions during inspection, but the incidents have occurred multiple times in real-world use.

I parked on an incline using the parking brake and the vehicle could not disengage the brake.
When the vehicle is in park and you try to turn it off with the start/stop button an on dash error code of ‘shift to park’ appears even though the vehicle is clearly in park. You are not able to turn the vehicle off. This currently is forcing me to restart the engine, put my car in reverse, shift back in drive, try re-parking and turning it off again, repeating the process until it eventually turns off. I do not know if my car is truly in gear or not. I’m afraid that it might cause a dangerous situation. Gm has already identified this recall for other vins of 2019 chevy Blazers I believe it should be extended to additional vins.

When placing the vehicle into park there is often a issue with the sensor recognizing that the vehicle stating that it is not when attempting to power off the vehicle. When stopping there are times that the vehicle is difficult to stop and there is not fault code as to what may be occurring.
The brakes failed on my SUV as I was driving on a city street. Yes it is available for inspection. Losing my breaks almost caused a collision with the car in front of me but due to the distance between the cars and the low speed at the time, I was able to avoid collision and detour into a parking lot where I cruised to a stop with the help of a parking lot space concrete stop. The problem was not reproduced by me but the service center computer diagnostics confirmed break issues. The service center says that the cause was low voltage of the car battery which affected the brakes. This is a very dangerous situation if the vehicle can lose complete braking ability due to a low voltage battery. This is the reason for reporting the issue. They replace the battery and said that should fix the issue. They said the only recourse to avoid this happening again is to replace the battery around every 2 years. The issue was inspected by a service center owned by the manufacturer of my SUV. The warning lamps only occurred as the brake system failed. A message of "brake system failure" appeared and the "check engine" light came on. Within the previous week of the issue the SUV also had other electrical issues such as the climate control interface went out and the rear camera also went out.
While my wife was pulling into park the car and pressing the brake, the car all of a sudden accelerated into the building. Pressing the brake failed to stop the car. No person was in the way of the car so no one other than my wife was at risk of injury. The problem has not been reproduced since the car was totaled. The car was inspected by the insurance for loss but that was it. Police and manufacturer have not inspected the car. No warnings were presented prior to the accident.
Breaking system not properly working . The car is brand new and the issue is going on for 2 months. Chevy dealer want to have the car for 7days but they don’t want to provide loaner or a rental. This is a dangerous issue and dealer seems to don’t care!.
Receiving shift to park error when attempting to shut off my vehicle. In December 2021 I had the parts replaced at the dealership, and as of a week ago the issue has started back. I am concerned that I will be stucked somewhere unable to shut off my vehicle or worst-case it doesn't actually stay in park.
Without warning, the brake pedal on my 2019 chevy Blazer became hard, almost as if the car was turned off. I was unable to stop and slowly rolled into the back of a semi stopped at a stoplight. This was moments after exiting off of a major highway and could have been much worse. The car was taken to a mechanic and it was determined to be a failure with the brake booster. Gm has issued recalls for this problem in several other models but the Blazer has been excluded. Based on online forums and complaints of multiple other Blazer owners, it seems obvious that Blazers should have been included in the recall.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed, but the pedal was firm, and the contact was unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where an unknown repair was performed. Additionally, the contact stated that upon taking the vehicle for an oil change, the contact was informed that the service could not be performed because the rear main seal was defective. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the rear main seal was in good condition. The dealer informed the contact that the transmission had failed and that there was a hole in the transmission. The dealer repaired the transmission. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 20v668000 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The driver-side half-shaft disengaged from the transmission. This caused a roll away of the vehicle when it is thought to be securely in "park" gear cuasing a frontal colisión.
Transmission issue, computer repair, constant issues.
I have made numerous complaints to jeff schmitt chevy dealership dayton, ohio regarding parking brake being engaged upon starting vehicle even though vehicle is on flat surface. Twice now, last occurring 1/29/24, while gradually increasing speed to make a left hand turn the vehicle suddenly self-brakes, during acceleration, making a harsh screeching sound. I remove my foot completely from the accelerator before I accelerate again. The initial incident was reported to chevy dealership. No findings have been noted per dealership. No accidents have occurred.
We leased this 2024 chevy Blazer on December 18th, 2023, at serra Chevrolet in southfield michigan 1. On new years day-January 1st. 2024, the digital speed disappeared. The steering resistance warning came on. And the ecs warning came on. As well as the parking break service lights and the check engine light. ** steering wheel starting locking, the brakes were hard to press. ( it got better 2. The next day-January 2nd, 2024- all of the code lights came back on, but now the shift gear wo0uld not work, could not reverse or move forward. We called our service manager scott. We were towed the next day. ** codes remained on. It is in service now at serra Chevrolet-southfield. We do not feel safe driving this vehicle we want them to fix it for others and to give us another car. Gm ask the dealers to not sell certain Blazers for safety reasons. Even though the car is not offically recalled, it should be.
Multiple safety-critical systems have malfunctioned since shortly after purchase, continuing to this day. The most serious is the forward collision braking, which has triggered randomly during normal driving. These braking events have occurred on highways and surface streets, posing a serious risk if a vehicle were following closely. During arbitration, the manufacturer admitted this is a known defect with no current fix, yet continues to return the vehicle marked as “repaired. ” additional issues include: adaptive cruise control failure intermittent charging failures (won’t initiate or randomly stops mid-charge) infotainment screen freezing or going blank inconsistent air conditioning performance rear hatch failing to open/close and requiring physical force bluetooth audio that disconnects unless the vehicle is powered off for 15+ minutes these problems have been reported to two gm-authorized dealerships. One repair attempt at a second location was ignored in arbitration. I also contacted gm corporate multiple times directly, requesting support. My attempts were either unanswered or dismissed, with no action taken. Many concerns were labeled “unable to duplicate,” even when I provided documentation. No warning lights appear with braking or charging failures. Most issues temporarily resolve after a full power-down, suggesting a software or control system fault. The manufacturer participated in arbitration and acknowledged the unresolved defects, but refused to provide further oversight or assign a factory technician. The vehicle is available for inspection. I am reporting this because the problems are ongoing and impact safety, reliability, and functionality.
Shift to park has came on the dash. Can not shut the car off. This will mean I will have to unplug the battery and not be able to lock the car. This is the first that it has occurred. Will have to schedule an appointment with the dealership on Monday.
Vehicle having multiple stalls with abs light on while driving vehicle been at the dealership technician tried to repair it did not get fixed. Returned again stated that it was a wheel speed sensor. My vehicles been at the dealership for over two months now with no part eta. Multiple instrument cluster lights and vehicle stalls while driving.
Chevy Blazer has low milage. However, it still has several electrical issues radio at engine start goes to loudest point and car seats move backwards at awkward times which can cause an accident. Suspension very off guard, truck drifts to the sides while driving and makes an awkward sound when turning steering wheel. The complete break / steering system is off and may cause an accident if not properly take care right away. I have no money to do this big job. Please remediate.

The breaks make a squealing noise all the time which is concerning. I was told by beaver Chevrolet that this is normal as the breaks were changed in newer car models. They have made a squealing noise ever since I bought the car brand new. I took the car into beaver Chevrolet approximately 4 months ago and was told that they were unable to replace the breaks because they "weren't squealing bad enough". They did spray my breaks down, however they told me that once I hit 36,000 miles if the issue was still occuring (which it will be) that I would have to pay to have the breaks sprayed. The issue persisted and the spray they used only lasted a few days. Typically breaks should not squeal unless they have gone bad, which isn't the case here. I find this issue to be a safety hazard as how are customers supposed to know when their breaks actually do go bad if they squeal all the time. The issue was reproduced, but it is unclear what their standard is for determining the actual noise to breaking ratio.
I was turning left at an intersection on 5/5/23 and the brakes locked up for no reason. As I entered the intersection the vehicle flashed the automatic emergency braking lights and locked up the brakes as I turned left. The lane in front of me was perfectly clear and the sudden stop fortunately didn't cause the vehicle behind me to rear end me. My wife and I were totally shocked and confused why this happened when there was clearly no obstruction ahead of us or reason to lockup the brakes. This is an absolute flaw and could have caused an accident and/or injury. This adas system is very sensitive in my opinion and constantly goes off on parked cars when driving in my subdivision. This I guess is unavoidable but the incident that happened is not explainable or acceptable!.
On March 23, 2023 abs extended stopping distance on snow / slush surface proceeding downhill on a 4 lane highway (7200 south wasatch blvd. Midvale utah). Other vehicles around me were stopping without issue. I noticed my abs brakes were making the (typical operating sound a type of grinding) and I wasn't stopping. I changed lanes twice to provide for more stopping distance and eventually stopped in the left turn lane within 2 feet from rear-ending other cars had I remained in the inside lane. Located investigation ea94-038 noting 10,000 complaints, 2000 accidents, 600 injuries. Chevrolet safety campaign 99i006000 addressing a pcm coding change and replacing the kelsey hayes abs actuator unit. Chevrolet at 800-222-1020 declined to say whether this recall was in force, was a valid recall or had ever existed.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration and the speed increased to over 70 mph. The contact indicated that while depressing the brake pedal the vehicle failed to slow as needed and the parking brake was activated to eventually stop the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who was unable to determine or confirm the unintended acceleration failure. The contact was informed that the brake rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced due to excessive wear. The contact stated that during a previous unintended acceleration failure, the speed was reduced while depressing the brake pedal; however, the vehicle would accelerate when the brake pedal was released. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.
Throttle stuck brakes could not stop vehicle. Lost control and rolled. Lucky I was on my property and not a public road. No report. Can be inspected. Available anytime. This is not the only year of this model I have had this problem I have had two 2002 that have had same problem.
