Bumper to bumper traffic on freeway les than 5 mph traffic suddenly stopped I depressed brake and vehicle did not stop. Slight rear end collision resulted. A second and similar traffic condition resulted at low speed the brakes did not stop the vehicle appropriately. I had to fully depress the brake pedal and the vehicle slowly came to a stop. The vehicle appears to be acting like it doesnt have power brakes.

The brakes have now four times failed to stop the vehicle. When pressed they get hard, then go down to the floor and there's a pulsating feeling. The vehicle just continues to go to the floor. On the third occasion that it happened, the vehicle in a non-emergency situation, would not stop in traffic and rear-ended another vehicle. It is dangerous and gm is no help.

2 occurrences I have been driving the vehicle, without notice I loose all power steering function, power brakes function and all abs/traction control. Several warning lights are displayed on dashboard. Both times the vehicle has been towed to the nearest Chevrolet dealer for repairs. Both these occurrences have happened while driving on major streets, the first time I was going around a curve on the street appx 40-45 mph, lost all functions and nearly lost control of the vehicle.
The electronic brake control module (ebcm) p/n 10343433 all of a sudden failed. As a result the dash computer error code c1214 for the anti-lock brake system, traction control has been coming on constantly. My wife has to press the reset button when she put the key in, when the car is started and when it is shut off. This ebcm is not available through any web site or dealer and is back ordered. The problem with this failure is that if you step too firmly on the gas peddle, the car will go out of control possibly causing an accident. Again without the ebcm, the traction control and anti-lock brake system are disabled. This is a very grave hazard should an owner not be aware of what happens if the ebcm module fails. A recall should be issued immediately.

The ecbm (abs module) goes out on a huge percentage of these cars from 1997 - 1999 and you lose abs with your braking which is dangerous and you also loose traction control which is also dangerous. The early c5 Corvettes have this problem with the ecbm going out and nobody will fix it nor are there any parts available. Chevrolet should take care of this issue as it greatly affects safety in their flagship vehicle.

Hello my name is jimmy jimenez I am 64 years old. On Sunday 9/18/2016 while driving my 2006 Corvette with my wife in the passenger seat we nearly had an accident. I was going around 70 when the car all of a sudden braked and pulled to the left. We were both shook up by this. We right away pressed our on-star button. We had them run a diagnostic test. On-star was unable to get a reading on the car. We told on-star that the dash board displayed the following message ¿service active handling system¿. As soon as we got home my wife looked up this issues and noticed there was a recall for this problem in 2010 #10118. My car is a 2006 Corvette VIN# 1g1yy26u965108221. I called the dealership that Monday 9/19. The dealership is ancira winton 6111 bandera rd sat 78238. I was informed that the pervious owner had brought the car into the dealership to have this recall fixed. So basically I was out of lucky because it had been fixed. Well I say no it has not been fixed I have a picture of what appeared on my dash board which I have attached. My wife then called the ntsa to file a compliant as to the fact the dealership will not repair this . I have only 22,700 mile on this car. I have not driven it since this incident which can be confirmed by on-star. My wife was given a compliant case # 10908378. . Read more...

The abs control module has become non-functional. This eliminates the safety aspect of anti-lock braking, traction control, active handling, and anti-skid control. Chevrolet no longer supplies this critical element to my car's safety and performance. The digital information display center flashes that these safety elements need servicing, which is also a safety impairment because I cannot get any display of other functions of the car, I. E. Mileage, fuel warning, options, and trip information. The part number is 10343433 (abs control module). This is an ac/delco number and none are in stock anywhere is the united states. I was told by multiple dealers that none are available and general motors will no longer supply this critical safety item again! this is a horrible support service on something so critical to the safety of a very expensive automobile. The response by general motors is selfish and uncaring. If you type abs control module for Corvette series c5 in google, you will find an unlimited resource of complaints. I believe this will be a series of accidents waiting to happen that will cause personal injury and death on our highways. Please investigate and take action.
My electronic stability control comes on regularly especially when I hit sand in driveway and tire spins which I expect but at other times the warning light comes on without any tire spin or condition that would warrant this. Turning from a stand still is another time the lights will come on without any tire spin. My wife drives this car now and I got a newer one. I am worried about her safety as she is an older lady 62 and if brakes locked up or steering she would not know how to handle the situation.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette. While driving approximately 75 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to operate. As a result, the contact coasted into an intersection to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air condition motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 121,000.

I bought this Corvette to celebrate the defeat of beat cancer. I dreamed of owning a Corvette since I was 10 years old, I've experienced so much heartache, I figured, I don't have too many good years left, I might as well, give my dream a chance, ha!! no, instead it has been a night mare, it's driving me crazier than I was, about to cause me a divorce, had electrical issues since day one!! has been worked on numerous times by allen, the crook I bought it from, a private mechanic who didn't want to "get involved", a dealer in owensboro ky, who didn't want me to drive it home for safety reasons, however, that's over 2 hours from home and I had no choice, but, a true gm dealership, and 1 of the biggest gm dealerships in the area in benton ky, twice, the first time when I picked it up, I went straight to my bank ptfcu, and it died there and I had to have a wrecker take it back!! but mike reid at country Chevrolet, as well as larry stovesand in paducah ky, both, know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the car was water damage, all 3 dealers have withheld that documentation from me, but mike reid did tell my husband he came out of his office to look for himself and yes, there was water damage. However, just like everyone else, they don't want to "get involved" !! jimmy allen has caused me allot of money I didn't have because a lawyer took my money, mailed jimmy allens attorney before he did me a letter saying I no longer had representation, when allen was supposed to buy it back months ago. I had to go to chuck hutton in memphis TN, to even get a real carfax, the service dept told me they got rid of it after 1 day because of so many problems, and that it had been paid off in a settlement, twice!! the car is the devil, I'm convinced, and it's been wrecked in front left and rear left with odometer fraud.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette. When the engine was started, a "service active handling" message appeared on the instrument panel. The error message was cleared by the contact. While driving at any speed, the brakes activated independently. The vehicle was pulled over. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 10v172000 (steering). The failure mileage was unknown.
Investigation number ea09-002 going into a slow left sharp turn the vehicle cut off fuel, triggered service abs, service active handling, service traction control. During this time I could not accelerate. Abs braking is now disabled and will not reset with ignition cycles.
"takata recall" my traction control comes on all the time and I sometimes have a pull on the right rear tire. The car is in motion. Street. This happens continuously. This started around early part of 2013. I have no idea what type of photo you want.
While driving through a parking lot at roughly 10mph, my car jammed on the front left, then both front brakes, bringing me to a sudden stop. Active handling was showing in the driver information cluster just like when your car loses traction for any reason. . . I thought this was very odd as it wasn't raining, no sand or fluids were present on the road in front of me, and I was barely touching the gas pedal. I then checked to see if I had run something over or if anything was jammed in the wheels/brakes. . . . Nothing visible. I get back in, reverse just fine, but as soon as I shift back to first and attempt forward motion boom it jams the brakes on again. I then re-clutched, tried again with a little more gas, thinking maybe I do have something stuck under the car. . . . Nope, it still brings me to a stop immediately. At this point, I was freaked out. . . . (needless to say) I held the active handling (traction control) button down until the system was fully disabled, after doing this I was able to drive the car back to work. I then found out about the recall and called the dealer. They told me that this recall for active handling had been completed in 2010. I asked them to please verify this as I had a headlight recall to do anyways and scheduled an appointment. Long story short. . . The service adviser told me that the previous repair had failed and that it needed to be done again. He then tells me that they do not have to fix my car because they already repaired it back in 2010 and that it would be up to me to cover the cost. After trying for over a week to convince them to do the right thing, I gave up and paid them for the repair. Im very worried that this will also not hold up. If this repair failed in the past, who is to say that it wont happen again, and this time it could cause a crash, even death. Please help, someone has to hold these people accountable.
I was driving my car in a business section of town ,I stopped at a stop light and made a right hand turn on red as the car straighten out I accelerated and the right front wheel locked up causing me to loose control hitting the curb and almost got rear ended. A message on my information display said service traction control. I put the car in park and turned off ignition then restarted message was gone and the brakes released. Thank goodness no one was injured. I'm afraid to drive this car.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle veered to the left and the right before coming to a halt. In addition, while in park, the gear shifter failed to shift out of park as "service active handling system" displayed across the message board. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,461. Oo.
Upon braking to enter a tight left hand turn in the country the dic displayed several warning indicators, abs and traction control. The right front brake locked up (confirmed by the flat spot on the tire). I began modulating the brakes thinking that I had lost anti-lock brakes, but the right front brake had locked up. This reduced the braking ability of the car causing me to go off the outside of a left hand turn and into a ditch damaging some components of the front end. I was able to return home safely. The car was parked until a mechanic looked at it. A dialectic grease was applied to the connectors between the system and the wheels at all 4 corners. This seemed to resolve the issue as experienced on that day. Now, 5 months later all the dash lights involved in the active handling system have come on again. Service abs, service traction control and service active handling all came on at the same time. The car will now need to return to the shop for some more diagnosing and repairs. This is a major safety issue. Having no active handling, traction control or anti-lock brakes does not make a daily drive unsafe. Not until applying brakes and you find the system locking up one wheel causing a loss of control. In an emergency situation it would be unsafe as well of course. We've come so far in improving the safety of our cars it's a shame that the same technology that improves the safety of our cars can also cause a vehicle to become unsafe.
Rear parking lights.
First occurrance was a month or two ago. We were exiting a parking lotat about 5mph when the car's active handling locked the right side brakes to where I could not keep the car straight. I could not accelerate without a heavy throttle to overcome the brakes. Service active handling icon lit. I had to shut the car down for a minute then restart to clear the brakes. This has happened several times since, almost identically. The car was checked by the dealer but there were no stored codes for them to follow up on. Apparently the "mechanics" cannot physically inspect cars anymore. Recently and after the dealer serviced the car, it has happened several more times with my wife driving. It is back at the dealer as we speak. We are both beginning to be worried about our safety and that of other motorists.
Driving normal citystreets 25mph when engine noise started, went another 2 blocks, engine stopped running, towed to chevy dealer. If this had happened on major highway, possible catastrophic effects. No power steering ,brakes, engine oil on roadway, steering wheel lock, wrecks ,injuries or possible fatalities. Engine head poor workmanship in these ls7 engines.

Just as leaving dealership for low beam recall, 2 miles, used cruise to 35 mph, 10 clicks of button to 45, then again to 55. When car reached 55, I felt the car nose forward like I cut cruise w/ tap of brake. I did not. Warning light/ cruise disengaged, still looking at dic car nosed down and squatted with warning light reduced power, this caused the car to slow to 35 and feel as though I was pumping the gas and brake alternately like when we were kids and used to watch the wife's head go back and forth. Before getting off road more lights and warnings. Its hard to say which came first, it all was happening fast and as a surprise. I know service active handling, traction control and abs messages came on. Don't think they took priority over the reduced engine power though. I remember seeing it, all the way back to the dealer. Slowed and pulled into huge lot. Now it was my head doing the back and forth dance with the car @ idle, it sounded like the main bearings weren't getting any oil and wanted out of that engine at any cost. So upset with the bearing noise, I got back on the road (picking up rpms) headed back to dealer in a limp mode (35 mph) even when the posted speed went down to 25 mph, the car did not lower rps as I pressed harder on the brakes. There is more to complain about but that will remain between the service manager, gm, and myself to resolution. Stayed at dealership approx. 10 minutes. Car started fine and I left. I always drive the same, and when the car reached 55 mph at the exact same place, it all happened again the exact same way! had to bring the car home in limp mode, about 10 miles from home. Again @ 35 mph. Car remains parked, put away, and covered, until the dealership contacts me to return with it, by Tuesday of this coming week, so sayeth the gm rep. If not he wants me to call him back.
Had 1/2 tank of gas, gauge suddenly dropped to zero, engine cut out. Abs traction control works when it wants to or doesn't.
"service active handling system" and "service vehicle soon" light both came on today. Researched on-line and determined that this is a very dangerous issue, potentially fatal.
I was driving on a main street this summer at about 40 mph and put on the brakes and they lock up, my car when sideways at 40 mph, very lucky know one was hurt!! went to the dealer to have the car checked out and was told the ebcm was bad and there was no fix for it !!! so now I and I'm sure a lot of others have a very unsafe and dangerous vehicle that Chevrolet seems to have no obligation to supply a repair for. You would think NHTSA would step on and force Chevrolet to resolve this issue , or is it going to take a death to make someone act ?.
