2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/05/2020

Shortly after purchasing car, the car started and lights started flashing by itself more than 10 minutes after exiting the car. Then heat stopped working in 0 degree weather. While driving notification said "ac off due to hight engine temp". While driving car shut down and wouldn't start saying "service stabili track" took to mechanic and they said I need a new water pump and head gasket. Mind you heat stopped working as well again. They confirmed there was no antifreeze because its leaking. Now thank goodness I was just getting home, could barely get into the driveway because now I'm getting a notification "service power steering". From everything I've read there have been recalls due to all of these issues but my VIN isn't listed. I still owe almost 5000. 00 on this crappy car and I'm completely over it. . . Worst car ever.

Failure Date: 02/17/2020

My heat stopped working when it was 8degrees out, by the time I got to work my car signaled on screen it was over heating and to idle engine. I pulled into gas station bought some coolant, let engine cool down drove the rest of the way to work and then back home. When I got home engine fan began coming (usually never hear it) called mechanic he knew exactly what it was over phone bc he sees the problem all of the time. Water pump leaking and a melted valve from over heating engine. Got both parts fixed $900 later.

5 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/23/2018

Engine coolant stench and loss of coolant since day one! I now have just over 45,600 miles and per the dealer a need a temp sensor housing and thermostat. While driving I got a message on the dash reading "ac off due to high engine temp" and the coolant temp read - - - and the needle on the temp gauge dropped to low from a prior midway point and coolant temp of 218 degrees. Back in 2014 I suddenly had black smoke coming from tailpipe and the "dealer replaced the water pump assembly with new base and thermostat. " I also had a "service stabilitrac" notice and sudden loss of power while driving back in 2015 and the dealer said they couldn't duplicate the issue but that I needed a new coil pack which I had to pay for and repair on my own even though car was still under warranty!! this vehicle has smelled like antifreeze since the day I bought it, brand new, from the dealer that was performing all the services. In addition, the back window leaked from day one and I had 2" of standing water in my trunk and I had to pay, out of my own pocket!!, to replace the rear window = twice!!! this car is a piece of junk and has been nothing but problems and the dealer has forced me to do repairs that should have been covered by the warranty. I am sick and tired of the stench of antifreeze and the fact that I now have to repair the thermostat housing and thermostat due to engine overheating!!!.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/27/2017

When starting my car, my windshield wipers start going along with windshield wiper fluid coming out, my four ways start blinking, and my trunk opens up and will not shut. I have not touched anything that would cause any of this to happen. This has happened multiple times and it puts me in a huge inconvenience. I was driving today and it's 14 degrees outside, yet my car started to overheat and a warning came up on my dash saying something about the a/c being shut off due to overheating. . . . Why would I be using my a/c at all?.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/27/2017

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to walker Chevrolet (3940 car others pkwy, franklin, TN, 37067) where it was diagnosed that the co2 sensor failed. The sensor was replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, two months later, the failure recurred. The vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. After multiple attempts, the vehicle restarted, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the second local dealer (lucas Chevrolet Cadillac, 101 s james campbell blvd, columbia, TN, 38401). It was diagnosed that due to ambient temperatures over 100 degrees fahrenheit, vapor build-up was in the fuel feed line and caused the vehicle to stall. The dealer stated that there was no remedy except higher octane. The dealer also recommended that the vehicle be kept in cooler temperatures and refrain from idling. The failure was under bulletin pip5507b. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

9 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/09/2016

While driving down a city street, the vehicle was stopped at a stop light. Just as it was about to move forward as the light turned green, it went into engine power reduced mode and prevented the vehicle from moving forward at a normal rate of speed. Thankfully was able to get the car off the road. Had to be towed to mechanic. The conditions were cold (about 20 degrees), with no ice. Further warnings included traction control servicing, but there were no issues with the traction control system. Mechanic is saying it is a throttle body issue.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

As I was driving about 35 on a city street, everything seemed like just any other day. But it was far from it. I started to smell a funny plastic/rubber like smell coming from the front of my car. So immediately pulled over to check what was going on. It is key to note that I also checked my engine temperature, speculating that maybe I forgot to top off the coolant or something, but the temperature was perfect. I stopped the car, popped the hood, and saw what was to my shock just insane. . . A 3 foot flame that was burning up my whole engine compairtment. I did not even try to put the flame out with any means because the flame was located too close to the fuel injectors and I was not confident enough to risk it and try to put out the flame. I called 911 and in several minutes, to my luck, they were there and put the flame out before the car blew up. However, the whole front of the car and some of front interior is basically melted and the car is not useful for anything anymore. This was a spontaneous flame that happaned while driving normally at about 35 mph on a 70 degree day. What happened? I do not know. . . But what I do know is that cars are not supposed to put their drivers and passengers at risk of dying just because a person wants to peacefully drive down to point b from point a. Please look into this, whoever will be doing so. This kind of car manufacturing is unacceptable!.

11 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/19/2015

November 2015 in 55 degree weather while driving an error message of "a/c off due to high engine temp". This happened during the summer of 2015, my car shut off an and I took it to the dealership and they remedied the issue. I believe they said it was the water pump. Again, it's giving me this error message.

12 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

I pruchased a 2013 chevy Cruze in June, 2013. In November of the same year, I struck a deer on a rural stretch of interstate highway at high speed (70mph). At this point there were roughly 9,000 miles on it. The air bags did not deploy, but I was unharmed. The impact caused the vehicle to do a 180 degree roll onto the shoulder, at which point I exited the vehicle to see the area near the battery smoking with a small flame coming out of it. Within minutes, and before emergency vehicles could arrive the front of the car was fully engulfed in flames.

13 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

Engine does not maintain engine temperature and consequently does not have consistent heat. It will go from 170 degrees to 100 in less than 3 blocks. This will cause the windows to frost over and limit visibility. It has become unsafe to drive in the winter. It has been in for repairs about 8 times in two years with no success. I also contacted Chevrolet customer care. They told me not to turn the heater fan in past level 2 until the engine reaches operating temperature. The problem is that it rarely does or holds it very long. This winter in mn has ranged all the way to -20. Regardless of temperature it does the same thing. My research indicates this has been an issue with the Cruze at least since 2011.

14 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

I just want to start off by saying we purchased this car brand new from kocourek Chevrolet in wausau, WI. Dec 2012 or Jan 2013 bumper fell off within 3 months of purchase while driving. Yes, fell off. The dealership where we purchased the car hesitantly replaced it as the clips were broke off. Dec 2012 trunk button does not work properly - has been replaced multiple times (by kocourek). And not it has recently once it opens, it will not close despite being slammed shut 8 to 10 times. Oct 2012 had an antifreeze leak from day one - dealership tells us they can't find anything even when pointed out. I go though a gallon of dexos antifreeze every 2 weeks. But as the dealership says, that's fine and normal. . . . Um. . . Not to me!!!! Jan 2018 - the car stalls out constantly - reduced engine power, while driving on the highway, in the city or even just parked in the driveway. I have been very nearly rear ended multiple times because of this. We have yet to find the source of this. Jan 2018 codes for throttle position sensor issues even though it has been replaced multiple times. Still can't find the source of this. Dec 2018 after being started, the car will shut itself off or die off. Still cant find the source. Aug 2018 recently, the car has dash warnings that state "ac off due to high engine temp" even when it is 30 degrees out. The temp gauge will also drop to cold. We have also changed the thermostat multiple times as well. This car is beyond a lemon. We have had issues with this car from day 1. And what is more ridiculous is that the dealership will not stand behind it. I have service records documenting the complaints of the issues and the dealership "not finding anything wrong" or "unable to duplicate issues". We have given up with chevy and also with kocourek Chevrolet in wausau. These issues have been ongoing since we purchased the car September 2012.

15 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 02/15/2011

I don't believe the current resolution to gm's recall on the chevy Cruze concerning the engine splash pan is adequate as it only addresses safety and not customer satisfaction. As this part directly affects the fuel mileage as advertised as well as the degradation of underwood parts due to water encroachment, I don't believe butchering the existing pan is fair to the consumer. At the least, the redesigned pan on the 2013 and any or all updates made to the 2013 model regarding this safety issue are what should have been completed. I am not satisfied with the current solution in that I no longer have what I paid for due to said recall and its poor solution.
