1 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/15/2020

Car suddenly overheated and within 30 seconds managed to spray coolant everywhere. The coolant went in the spark plugs, warped the head and managed to enter the piston compression chamber. The head warped and allowed coolant in the engine. This issue should have been just a simple fix and a refilling of coolant but instead has become a full engine disaster. Luckily I was not on a highway when this happened and I was on an empty road going 55 or this could have become a greater issue. When the coolant housing busted it sprayed all over the engine bay and some even made it on the windshield cutting some of my visability. I feel fortunate that I was driving in a straight line and not in the middle of traffic or a winding road.

2 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

The vehicle has had overheating issues since I bought it. Repaired it twice and is experiencing problems again. I have changed all components of the cooling system to no avail. I have come across countless complaints about this. Why hasn't there been a recall for this yet?.

3 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 04/29/2020

My car overheats every time the seasons change. One day it will be running fine with normal temperature readings, I keep a close eye on the temperature due to it's tendency to overheat, and then the next moment it is smoking and idling my engine secondary to "high engine temperature".

4 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/03/2019

The car said overheat-ac off code- car was very low on coolant- took to the dealer and was told by the dealer that the engine was blown and not to driive the car- I ask about service bulletin- but was told this did not apply. I had problem with overheating 18 months ago- replaced, thermostat, canister, etc as my expense. I ask if this was related and was told no. I researched problems and found many about engine and cooling problems. The dealer has made no effort to help resolve the issue. I tried to have car transferred to a different branch of dealership to have problem evaluated- I was informed by salesman that the dealer refused to transfer the car to have it checked. His seems very odd. I called GMC- Chevrolet division but have not gotten a response. The dealer wants me to trade in car for a different one and will offer me $300-$600. Which is ridiculous. After I trade in the car-no one can check it- the car still runs but I am afraid to get stuck.

5 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/03/2019

The vehicle overheats on a regular basis. It went in for service for this problem on 07-03-19, 05-06-19, 11-21-18 & 09-25-18. The last bill was for $2919. 60. The dealership where the service is being completed has advised that the 2016 chevy Cruze is very well known for this type of problem. The last time the vehicle was in for service it took 49 days for the problem to be fixed. The service department said that the parts that were needed were on back order because so many chevy Cruze's had the same issue. This is a safety issue because the vehicle could break down at any time and we could be in a very remote area without any help. The vehicle has been worked on for this problem at sanborn Chevrolet 1210 s. Cherokee lane, lodi California 95241-1057. Telephone number 209-334-5000. It appears that general motors is well informed about this issue but chooses to put their customers at risk.

6 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 06/03/2019

While driving my 2012 chevy Cruze, my radio will shut off randomly for about 10 seconds, and when it does, I lose complete control of the steering. It is like the car shuts off but when the radio turns back on, then the car will restore power. Very dangerous and scary!!! and yet, there is still no recall for my specific VIN. Also, for two mornings in a row, I have noticed a smell and some smoke coming from the engine. It will only do it for about 5 minutes and the car will not overheat. I swear it is one thing after another with this car.

7 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

I recently had an issue with my turbo becoming defective that I later found out the part was on a national back order and that the manufacturer knew that it had a manufacturing flaw causing multiple turbos to become defective. This is a costly part to replace and with it being on a national back order has caused a major inconvenience that has also triggered multiple parts to go out like my ignition coil as well as my catalytic converter this has also caused my car to overheat. As of right now there is still no news on when this part is going to be available, we are only told that the part is being remade to sustain the stress of the extra work that was not originally planned for our original part to sustain.

8 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze

9 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/07/2018

While driving I noticed my vehicle wasn't giving out much heat, I was freezing and I even let my car heat up before leaving. Soon a warning light came on saying "ac off due to high engine temp" it was then I looked and noticed my temperature gage and realized my car was overheating. I got it home shut it off and the fan was still going. So I started my car again, looked at the gages to see that everything was normal. I proceeded to turn my car back off and this time the fans turned off. Doing some research and found that there are many cases in which this is happening with other 2015 models and also within 2014 back to 2012. Hoping this is an issue chevy can make right.

11 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 06/04/2018

I was driving to work on the freeway and noticed the car was swaying and wobbling . . . I had got 4 brand new tires about a month and a half ago so I didn't think it was that. The next day, same thing driving to work but this time in addition to swaying, it was jerking and loosing power or punch at times when pressing on the accelerator. The following day, same thing again, this time there was a warning light check stability trak, something like that. I also noticed the check engine light on. It also began jerking even more and when I parked it, the fan was very loud and running even though the car was not overheated. When driving home and stopping at lights, my car jerked more and only stopped temporarily whe n in parked or if I pressed on the gas. I am concerned the recalls for my car was never addressed, even though it is "saying" no recalls for my VIN. What should I do? I am not sure I should drive it far based on what others have said happened to them when driving on the freeway or loosing control thru an intersection.

12 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 03/10/2017

There is a defect in the reservoir that holds the coolant that makes it unable to breath. The coolant is bubbling inside the reservoir because it isn't able to release the pressure which in turn is making the cars overheat. The manufacture just sees this normal but there are many videos on the internet off people going through the same thing.

13 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/14/2016

Stabilitrak check engine light turned on car overheated and the car slowed down and turned off while on the highway in couldn't restart the car had it towed to the dealership and they wanted to charge for repairs which we are not going to pay for manufacturing defects I have a 2013 chevy cruise.

14 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/06/2015

The cooling system in my 2011 chevy Cruze has failed for the 3rd time in my two year ownership. This is dangerous, my car overheated and went into idle mode on a 70mph interstate(81) with my family still inside. Chevy denys any problem! multiple class action lawsuits have been started regarding the faulty cooling system but they seem to just disappear. My car constantly smells of nauseating coolant and has been "fixed" twice now. So what gives? why is this not being addressed? the NHTSA needs to handle this problem as it is bigger than chevy will ever admit.

15 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/11/2015

The acceleration takes a lot to go from 0-30 mph and when it does the car feels as though it will stall. Vehicle is serviced regularly. This seems to be worse when the defrost or air is on. The gas pedal needs to be almost to the floor for it to even pick up and when it does accelerate it jumps between the gears and the rpm reeves up and the vehicle is slow to move. The engine fan also runs for 30 secs, shuts off, 1-2 mins later runs for 30 secs and shuts off. Have had engine temp checked and no issues with the car overheating but unknown why the fan runs on high all the time and it takes away the power to the car.

16 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze
