Catalytic converter issue, high pressure fuel pump, car shakes, balking while on idle or stop on red light, heavy chain rolling noise. Spent more than $3k so far but still comes with different problems every now and then. Engine light is always on and bunch of different codes show up while checking. Cruise control doesn't work. Wiper blades don't clear properly. Problem list can go on and on. Car shuts off by itself and it happened so many times. Engine power was reduced by itself and couldn't go more than 20 miles/hour on a highway with family inside the car.
While driving the car just shut off in middle of road without warning. It would not restart and had to push it off the street as to not get hit.
Car shuts off on its own, I recently took it to get it diagnosed and didn't show anything was wrong with the vehicle. No engine light is on, nothing seems out of the ordinary, just that its starting to shut off on its own out of no where and looses power. I will be at a stop light and I would accelerate but as I accelerate the car shuts off. Also, its happed on the freeway during traffic times, when its heavy in traffic and requires me to stop for a while and then accelerate it either looses power or shuts off.
It only had 42000 miles on it and even before it sounded funny. We had it hooked to diagnostic and it said the intake and exhaust cam shaft actuator solenoids needed to be replaced or faulty. Google it online it comes up as a recall for my year of 2011 chevy equinix. But when I told them at chevy service center they were addiment that only certain vins and thats what they go by. But I told them how would you know which ones are affected if your not told by consumers. Online and on different sites come up that some have problems and have recalls . Well om informing them that theres an issue but since its not on their data base or my VIN they will not do anything. The car when driving shuts off sometimes. Or when I start it and begin to drive it shuts off.
Driving down the highway going about 70 miles per hour over a bridge. My vehicle started loosing power. About 2 miles after the bridge the engine light came on and the engine shut off. Never came back on. I was towed to a shop where the diagnosis was engine code p228d, previous to that in January of this year another engine code p0302 was captured and in July of this year yet another engine code p0420 captured as well, via a tracking system thru my insurance.
The cam shaft position sensor is defective. The vehicle shuts down when idle is low.
Car shut off while driving, would not restart. Timing chain broke causing engine damage. Vehicle was at dealer in Nov and had timing chain checked. Dealer reported there to be no issues with timing chain.
Purchased my 2011 chevy Equinox in March 2014 at 36,000 miles. At this moment I have 63,000 miles. Past couple months or so I have had many issues with my vehicle. There was a ticking for a period of time after parking and shutting off the vehicle, a rough/loud running of the engine, inconsistent times of knocking type sound, and a hesistant during accelerating and so rough. When we inquired about these things from the dealer we purchased from we were told that everything was 'normal' and that's what a chevy sounds like. Today I was driving up a 30 mph road and could not accelerate over 20 mph going straight up the road. There was a hesistation then it stopped in the middle of the road. I turned the ignition off. Waited a few seconds and it started back up. I drove fast home and turned onto my street and it started to slow down and not accelerate. It was still running but didnt go anywhere. I turned it off again for a few minutes. It started up I drove it into my driveway. The engine light came on and it shutoff. This appears to be a consistent problem in this type of vehicle from what I have now found and something that should not happen with only 63,000 miles on it. I do not drive long distance. Work, school and home. I am extremely frustrated with the entire situation. I have always bought chevy and this is the first major issue. They need a recall on this. Can someone help. I do not have a warranty anymore. Im a single mom of 2 and can not afford this. The crazy thing is. I received a notice in the mail about this issue a few months back. I chuckled and said not my car and threw it away now look at me.
I was driving with my 7 year old son and 15 year old nephew on a 35 mph busy street when all of a sudden my vehicle started shaking and the steering wheel and brake paddle lock on me I couldn't move the luckily there was no car coming at the moment, and I was able to turn off the vehicle and turn it back up. After that I it started up again and nothing seem to be wrong until the engine light turn on and I continued on my way, all of a sudden my on the dash board it said stability check/lost engine power and all of a sudden the engine shut off on me. I couldn't move to from lanes to avoid causing an accident luckily the vehicles on back of me notice my vehicle slowing down and they where able to miss hitting my vehicle. I really do want something done to fix this issue because I could of cause an accident with that sudden stop and all because of the engine powering off. I believe something needs to be done a. S. A. P. Before on of all these other people putting their complains end up dead or causing a deadly accident. I sure don't want my family to be in danger in any type of way, especially not in a vehicle that I know is malfunctioning and feeling helpless because nothing is being done. I hope my complain helps even more to get this issue fix a. S. A. P.
