Air Bag Light On Problems of Chevrolet Equinox - part 1

The service airbag light came one yesterday 05/11/2021 but then turned off. It will alert when I start the car and intermittently while driving.

I have a �service airbag light � going off on my 2011 chevy Equinox. Light goes off when starting the car and frequently while driving it.

I was driving home and drove over a pot hole in the road when I was turning at intersection, then approximately 3-5 seconds after curtain air bags deployed as well as the one from steering wheel. The steering wheel air bag did not fully inflate due to metal fragments that were shot out causing a puncture to the air bag and those fragments caused puncture wounds to my arm, and cracked the driver side door window. I was not in a collision at that time. I have the report from my insurance where it states this car had a recall for air bag issues one being that objects may cause injury and or death from shooting out. I had taken my vehicle to the dealership in June due to the stabilitrak and service air bags light was on. This was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase and any other time I took it in for services. After investigation thru my insurance it was declared a total loss. I have tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully, to reach out to management for over a month now and they seem to not want to help. I have photos to show condition of the vehicle, the 23 page report from my insurance as well as my injuries. I put $5000 down , included in that was a trade in. Now im left without a car and dealing with a dealership that seems not to care. On the 23rd page is where it states this vehicle may be one of the affected ones. Well it was because it happened to me. The insurance took possession of car over 2 weeks ago.

My chevy Equinox lt has the passenger air bag light on. It says it needs to be serviced but my car doesn't fall under the recall. I purchased this car off of someone, there has been no accident reports. It just suddenly stopped working. My car only has 98,000 miles. It's a safety issue that should be covered by chevy.

Hit a bear in a 2 lane rural roadway between 30-40 mph after braking hard. Airbags fired but none ever came out. Could smell the burning charge. Service airbag lights came on along with interior lights and hazard lights.

First the service airbag light comes on and none of the buttons on the steering wheel work. Now the horn is continuously blowing while driving, and won't stop until the car is turned off.

Service air bag light came on - can't get any information, however, research shows this is a common problem, high cost, recall was issued to vehicles up to 2007. There needs to be at least a 2008 recall issued.

On February 26, I was driving my 2010 Equinox to my mechanic for an annual vehicle inspection and to find out why my service airbag light was on. As I was driving smoke started flowing out from under the passenger side dashboard. I stopped the car and got out thinking it was going to go on fire. After several minutes, the smoke stopped and I proceeded to my mechanic. On March 10th my mechanic had the car in his garage and was completing the inspection and he decided to investigate why the car would have been smoking. He decided to let the car idle in the shop to see if it would start smoking. As moments passed the mechanic told me he heard a 'firecracker' sound and looked to see that the driver's side airbag deployed without reason. I was told by the mechanic to take it to a chevy dealer. I made an appointment and told the service department this story and they were unsure why this would happen. This vehicle does not yet have a recall for this problem and the dealer or manufacturer needs to rectify it without cost to the owner. I can only imagine the horror that would have ensued if this happened while I was driving.

I have been having an issue with fumes coming into the cab of my vehicle through the front vents when set to defroster or circulating air from outside to inside through the vents. The fumes smell of gas or exhaust and are very noticeable when sitting still while engine is running. This is noticeable mainly when sitting still in vehicle with engine running. The smell is overwhelming. I have developed breathing problems since purchasing my vehicle. I have been newly diagnosed with asthma and am having to take breathing treatments. I had the first asthma attack in December 2019. I am also having problem with airbag light staying on. Wheel information is also incorrect. Information system may indicate the front passenger wheel pressure is low, when in fact the rear passenger tire pressure is low.

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving approximately 45 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. While driving home, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 126,096.

Air bag light is on not safe to drive.

My airbag light and 'service air bag' light and abs light and stabalize track light were all on for a few week and I took it to local shop who said the sensor for the brakes under driver seat was bad so that cost $580. 00 for new module. That took care of abs/stabilize lights. Had to to go dealer for airbag lights and they charged $1070. 00 because the airbag module under passenger seat was out and had to replace (part 560 plus labor). I don't feel like I should have had to pay for the airbags!! the airbag lights were on for about 6 months and never went off so I finally got tired of it. . . No matter if someone was sitting in seat or not, or whether it was idle, in motion, etc.

2007 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to service air bag indicator light illuminated on dashboard panel. The consumer stated the driver's side airbag should be included in the recall.

The vehicle was taken to spitzer Chevrolet northfield (333 e aurora rd, northfield, OH 44067, 440-499-7900) where it was speculated that there could be a sensor malfunction on the vehicle. The contact was provided a cost estimate to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 62,700.

Passenger air bag sensor not working correctly. Service airbag light comes on and when someone is sitting in passenger seat the airbag display on dash will go on and off. The sensor doesn't detect all the time that a passenger is sitting in the seat.

Service air bag light came on at approx 65,000 miles. Had vehicle scanned, could possibly be pass side seat sensor but not 100% sure. Research shows this is a common problem, high cost, recall was issued to vehicles up to 2007 modelyear. There needs to be recall issued for model year 2008 also!!.

The air bag light came on a few weeks ago and the light on the dashboard stays on when driving.

The airbag light came on and then the car got stuck in park. Now the key want come out the ignition. Took it to the dealer he said the passenger airbag module needs to be replaced and the battery terminal needs to be replaced.

Tamara recall the service airbag light comes on when I start my vehicle and stays on from time to time. This has been going on and scares me that it might deploy unexpectedly. I feel as if my life is in danger because of this.

Vehicle hit a pot hole at 35 mph, driver side front tire blew out. Service airbag light and warning can on and passenger front seat belt locked as if vehicle was in major collision. Dealership first stated it would all be covered under warranty, now stating black box shows vehicle was in collision and air bags �partially deployed�. There is no damage to vehicle. If black box is determining an accident occurred, why did bags not deploy?.

The contact was informed that the vehicle was safe to drive. The contact stated that the failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken back to autonation Chevrolet on several occasions for the air bag warning indicator failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 3,050.

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated when the vehicle is started the passenger air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer weseloh Chevrolet 5335 paseo del norte, carlsbad, CA 92008 who diagnosis the vehicle as a failed air bag sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified and informed the contact they could not help. The failure mileage was 65,000. VIN not available. Hk.

Airbag light stays on needs to be serviced it keeps saying airbags are off this light comes on everytime Equinox is in motion and continues to beep all the time!.

Air bag light on dashboard is on (not flashing). Service airbag message on message display. Not caused by accident. No airbag deployment.

I bought this car used from someone who let me know of this issue and could not get it fixed. This issue is present no matter if the car is stationary or in motion. There is a "service air bag" warning as well as the airbag notification light. The passenger seat airbag light on the center console is always set to off no matter if someone is sitting in the passenger seat or not. I have read several complaints of this issue whether the people bought the car when it was new or used. It is an ongoing issue and it costs $800-$1000 for gm to fix it which is ludicrous because it is a safety hazard faulty equipment that they installed. This was the same issue in the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and that was recalled however gm will not recall the 2008????.

Service airbag light keeps coming on. It doesn't matter if I am stopped or driving down the road.

The airbag light is on and I took it to the dealer and it costs 105. 00 to diagnose that the passenger presence module needs replaced because there is a short in it and it will cost another 656. 00+tax the light comes on as soon as I start the car.

Takata recall. My Equinox is not in the recall but should be. I filed a complaint but have heard nothing back. The airbag light stays on and stafilinos diagnosed a short. It just came on one day when I started it.

"takata recall" my airbag light came on for no reason, it cost me 105. 00 at staffilino Chevrolet for them to tell me I have an internal short in the passenger presence module and it will cost me 656. 00 to have it fixed. I saw where the takata recall will not be complete until 2019. This does not help now and I would like to be added to the recall now. The vehicle has never been wrecked and this light came on out of nowhere.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and opened case number: 8-3844789289. The contact was informed that they would respond within two days. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

My vehicle should have two recalls; first the airbags. When my passenger is sitting in the seat the check engine light will come on telling me to check my airbag and the airbag light is off. I'm not sure if it will deploy if I get in an accident or if it will on its own one day hurting my passenger. Second, my vehicle smells like gasoline. It smells worse when I fill the tank up and its doesn't start right away. I am driving my vehicle since this is the only vehicle I have. I have seen online were the 2007 Equinox had a recall for the airbag and gas tank. Please help me.

Air bag light comes on. Sometimes it doesn't come on and sometimes it does. It's been doing this for close to 2 years. Passenger seat belt has been sticking often. Sometimes I can barley get it to unclick. This has been happening for about 3 years.

The service airbag light came on upon starting it one morning , but have not been in an accident. The car has a total of 58,863 miles on it. Can't understand why this happened!.
