Engine overheating "stationary and in motion" seems to be a common problem with most 2006 and above. I replaced the thermostat, the water pump, I performed a radiator flush, replaced the ect sensor, and still the car over heats. I did a compression test and it's fine, I checked the head gaskets and they are fine. The oil looks fine, the radiator fluid looks fine. I went through a car wash after replacing the water pump, thermostat, and ect sensor. The car still over heats, both at idle and after driving 2 miles or 10 miles. I've been told it's either an electrical issue, a radiator issue, or engine electrical issue. I can not keep putting money into a car that is only worth $2,500. Many other people I have noticed posted the same issue of over heating and nothing is being done about it. It should be a chevy recall, and repaired by the manufacturer. Here is an example of 1 other complaint:. . . . . . . . On November 17th the vehicle started to tell me that it was overheating and to turn a/c off. A/c was not even on because it was cold and the heat was blowing cold air. The vehicle then told me while I was trying to get to a safe location to pull over that the engine power was reduced and the vehicle stated to crawl along the road. When the vehicle was looked at where I pulled over there was minimal oil in the vehicle and it had blow coolant all over the driver side wheel well from what looked like the overflow tube. Oil was put in the vehicle so that I could drive it to a safe location. On November 18th I went to start the vehicle to go to work and without going any place but sitting in the driveway it started to tell me that the engine was overheating and to turn a/c off. The vehicle was towed. The dealership that I use worked on it and replaced the temp control and thermostat and did a complete oil change. Many other Equinox owners are having same issue.

The airbag sensor light comes on and off and after review of this info online there are so many complaints against this same issue not sure why no one will look into the recall needed for these airbags the dealer is saying it will 1200 to replace sensor light put in by manufacturer this is insane amount of money needed to keep people safe on the ride this is must have item in a car.

We bought our son this vehicle when he got his license back in sept 2019. The front passenger seat sensor isn't working causing the passenger air bag to not be safely engaged. This is a huge safety issue and should be a recall and replaced immediately. Also, there is hardly any heat coming from the blowers. We had it in multiple times but noone can figure it out. We have replaced: heater core, water pump, thermostat, radiator, resevoir. Ect. . Flushed it a million times and had the heads pressure checked, nothing worked. It gets very little heat when idling, and gives "luke warm" heat when rpms increase while driving. Last winter my son could hardly keep his windshield defrosted/defogged and almost lost visibility while driving to school. Not to mention freezing to death with no adequate heat. This is a huge safety issue.
The sensor for the passenger air bag is fault and has turned off the passenger air bag many times with my husband in the seat next to me with the vehicle in motion on city streets, highways, and interstates. I fear it will turn off and we will get into an accident putting his life in unnecessary danger. This has been a well reported incident to the manufacturer by many individuals and the 2007 model had a recall in place. There is no reason the 2008 model should not also have that recall.

Passenger seat airbag sensor does not detect when an occupant is in the seat, so the airbag is always off. This has been going on for several months.
This vehicle was supposedly repaired in a previous recall, however the issue with the passenger seat airbag sensor persists. Recently it is increasingly difficult to get the sensor to work for the front seat passenger, and it goes on and off as the vehicle is driven. Either the repair was not adequate to completely resolve the problem or not actually completed.

This vehicle is one of several that have been reported to have problems with wheel speed and psi sensors, which then causes the traction control to believe computer wise it has no traction, therefore the light is always on and the computer sometimes shut the traction control off when it needs to be on. It also has airbag trouble with the passenger seat, also like the recall. However, despite the fact 2007's were issued this recall, it's saying my VIN does apply to these recalls. Find that hard to believe when these things are messed up. Just want gm motors to awknowledge it's possible that this vehicle was mismanufactured.
Passenger airbag sensor does not register with airbag control module. Brought it to chevy for repair. 600 bucks later and a new sensor, airbag still isn't responding. Chevy tells me I need a new airbag control module for 700 bucks, had already spent 1300 on that visit. Airbag does not register passenger, computer will not reset and sync with control module. This shouldn't require the entire module to be replaced, nor should I have to pay for this since this I've heard/read numerous cases all dealing with this issue on the same model and apparently gm refuses to recall (aside from the airbag reprogram when it first released) has been an ongoing problem since I purchased the vehicle from a dealer, who said they fixed it before I picked it up. Does work intermittently, when a larger person sits there, air bag does register.
The passenger seat airbag sensor light goes on every few seconds. It does not matter if anyone is in the seat or it is empty. It just started out of the blue and I am reading that other owners are having the same issue. This only happens when the vehicle is moving.
At 100,000 miles, the passenger airbag sensor failed and caused the vehicle to indicate that the airbag was not active, even when a passenger was in the front, passenger seat. I took it to the authorized dealer and referenced # 07v344000 recall but was told that my VIN did not fall within the recall, despite the similarity of the issues involved.
The airbag sensor light stays on intermittently and when it does, the passenger airbag says "off" and notification message says "service passenger airbag". Every shop I have to take it to says they see no problems, but a dealer has to take a look. This started happening in 2018 and has been happening since. I have been reading that this is problem for this model of Equinox around this time in its life. The stable track is similar. Every so often, it stops working but then most of the time is fine.
I am filing my complaint due to some re-accruing issues that I continuously have with my truck I just bought in June of 2017. I have problems with the car overheated needle fluctuations and shutting down on me. The air bags does not work for the passenger seat and there are a couple of sensors that are on and constantly stays on when cranking the car and driving. I also have problems when I turn the wheel to the right hearing a rubbing graining noise also hear a trickling noise when pressing the gas to go. I have had my car worked on by a mechanic twice. Had my radiator flushed thermostat replaced and anti-freeze take flushed and still the same issues. My coolan fan causes my battery to go dead and have to get a jump start more than once. This issue happens while driving sitting or even on the highway. I'm taking the car back to the dealer to see if they can figure the issue out.
1. The airbag sensory on the passenger side goes on and off depending how the person is seated or how much the person weighs. 2. The defrosting/heating mechanism doesn't produce warm enough air to clear the windows for clear visibility. .
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. When the driver and passenger seats were occupied, the air bag sensor (electronic module) failed to illuminate and indicate that the seats were occupied. It was diagnosed that the air bag sensor failed, but a remedy was not provided. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v344000 (air bags). The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall and did not offer further assistance. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
Passenger front airbag map sensor with foam, wiring harness and programming had to be replaced at a cost of 688. 49 on Feb 8 2017. Seat belt sensor kept going off.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. While a passenger was seated on the passenger seat, the air bag sensor inadvertently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v344000 (air bags). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
The passenger seat air bag sensor failed and to repair the problem the entire seat cushion and electronic module has to be replaced. This is an over $800 repair and my daughter cant afford to have it fixed. According to the dealer tech this is a common problem on several thousand Equinox, torrent and Saturn ion vehicles. Imho this is a safety defect and should be repaired at no charge.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the air bag sensor failed to operate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. While operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag system module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Passenger air bag constantly coming on saying it is not working. All others recalled by 2008. Now service traction control and service stabilitrak sensor on. I've read about both of these issues online here so why no recalls when it's something that's reacurring for others.
I have purchased a chevy Equinox 2008 and the message center for the past 3 weeks displayed service air bag. There seems to be a electrical issue I can hear static or something coming from the driver side door every time I open and close it. Major safety issue. I only have a 30 day warranty. I checked this car on auto check and the mileage was even wrong, when inspected last the miles were 118,000 when I got it it had 115,769 did they roll it back. What sites are accurate? I checked autocheck VIN pro the past couple years they have been complaining same issues air bag sensor etc chevy sucks!.
Front passenger seat airbag sensor will not activate safety system when I, as a 120 lb adult, place a medically necessary cushion (to alleviate back and hip pain) between myself and the seat, thus cancelling out the benefits of this safety system when the vehicle is in motion. I am at risk when riding in this general motors vehicle. Please require gm to recall and correct this defect soonest and associate my complaint with all other similar complaints on file with your agency.

The passenger airbag seat sensor is faulty and doesn't turn on the passenger air bag when there is an occupant. This is a violation of fmvss 208.
Suddenly, "service airbag" light started to appear when someone sat in front passenger seat and the overhead display showed the passenger airbag as off. No wreck or anything unusual happened. Brought it to Chevrolet dealer, paid $115 for a diagnostic and they said we need a new airbag sensor that will cost $800. This should be a recall. This car is 2 years old, 45k miles and has not had an accident and I have to pay nearly $1000 to get an airbag fixed? I can't afford this right before christmas. I called Chevrolet to be sure and they confirmed it isn't covered by any type of warranty. Please add this car to the airbag recall list and I'll be happy to provide the invoice from the dealer stating this problem.
The right front passenger seat is built with a passenger sensing system. Whenever the front passenger seat is occupied, and sometimes when it is not occupied, an error in the seat sensor calibration causes the 'check air bag' light to come on.
The front seat passenger air bag sensor only worked intermittently--the sensor wasn't recognizing when a passenger was sitting in the seat so we were very concerned that the air bag wouldn't deploy if we were in an accident. As a result, we took it to two separate mechanics (including one gm dealership) and it ended up costing over $1000 to fix the problem. I contacted chevy customer service on 11/10/14 to document the concern and to request financial assistance for the problem but nothing was available. This is a major safety concern that needs to be addressed by chevy especially if it is happening on many vehicles.
During a long trip, the passenger airbag sensor light changed from "on" to "off" intermittently even though there was a passenger present all of time. When the sensor light turned to “off”, the instrument panel “service airbag” light also came on each time. This happened about 8 times during the trip. It has happened several times since then as well.
I was driving on a 2 lane road with heavy woods on each side and a deer ran out of the woods in front of me. I hit the deer with the front of my Equinox. I immediately smelled the fumes from the air bag but did not see where the air bad deployed. Onstar came on and asked if I was ok, that they were advised my air bag had deployed. The in dash sensor in my car also alerted that the air bag had been deployed. My steering wheel appeared normal, but a small gap around the air bag cover. It appears that my air bag had attempted to deploy but the bag itself did not inflate. The damage was filled on insurance and gm was notified of the incident due to the fact that my air bag did not function correctly. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership where it was purchased to have the air bag & sensors replaced. Gm did open a claim with my complaint and said that it would be 20 to 30 days for an investigation to be done.
The passenger seat airbag does not come on when anybody is sitting in the seat regardless of the weight. The car was taken to milton ruben Chevrolet in augusta, GA. For an estimate of repair. The estimate to replace the seat mat sensor was $980. 00. My wife and I do not have that kind of money to spend to have it repaired. I have contacted Chevrolet about the problem. The 2007 Chevrolet Equinox had a recall for the same issue and my question was "why was the 2008 Equinox's not recalled for the same issue". Chevrolet stated that the government has not forced them to recall the 2008 Equinox's. I wish that I had gotten the man's name. I also filed a complaint with the better business bureau and the bbb was not able to help my wife and I. I also stated to the bbb that if someone gets hurt in a wreck due to the faulty passenger airbag, I would be looking to them for answers. The only help that milton ruben Chevrolet would give my wife and I was to give us a discount on a new Chevrolet. We cannot afford to buy a new car at this time.
I got a warning that said service airbags. I brought my car in and they found out it was the passenger air bag. They reset the sensor and it never came back and so they said it was fine. About a week went by and the light came on and then disappeared again. I called and they said they would need it for 3 days and it could cost quite a lot of money. When I read all the reports of others who had seen this signal it seems very similar because it doesn't stay on. I have read that it could be a seat belt trigger or caused by the heat, but I am very concerned as this is certainly something that is a safety concern. My car is also under 60,000 miles and this shouldn't be a concern at this point. Please advise if there has been other issues with this. I am hearing about many myself.
