Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Chevrolet Equinox - part 1

On January 16, 2021, I was traveling down main street in round rock, texas where I rear ended another vehicle at approximately 30 mph. As I slammed on my brakes to stop, I felt my brakes started pulsating, making it difficult for me to come to a complete stop. My car was deemed unrepairable, and was a total loss. The radiator was cracked, and the frame was bent making it difficult to open the door. I had a couple bruises not severe that I needed to go to the hospital. My airbags did not deploy during the accident, which to myself did not seem to be normal. Due to the severity of the damages to my car, it was considered not operational and had to be towed.

On Dec 31, 2020 I struck a deer on a county rd going approx 45mph. The impact was so hard the drive train was shoved into the car and the radiator exploded and the entire front passenger side was destroyed. Neither pass. Nor drivers side doors would open. The car is a total loss yet the airbags never deployed throughout the entire vehicle but you could see a white powdery smoke and it smell as if they did and the car now says service airbags. Also the driver and passenger side seat belt never retracted back and my daughter and I were both injured as I was slammed into the steering wheel suffering damage to my chest and face and her head/ face bounced off the dash due to the air bags not deploying and the seatbelts not working. We are lucky we weren't killed as the entire front end of the vehicle, engine included was pushed to the inside of the car. We were going to look into getting us another Equinox as I had just had this one for about seven months but I absolutely loved it but after reading all these reports that are identical to ours as far as seatbelts and airbags go and realizing this is a very common thing with 2015 Equinox and after this happening to us it's obvious this vehicle is not safe to drive or at least not safe to get into an accident with and it sounds like there needs to be a recall but yet that hasn't happened. I have read hundreds of reports exactly like this one. I'm very disappointed in chevy for letting this continually happen with no recall or warning to your customers. . A police report was filed on this and injuries did occur. The police officer and the wrecker driver said they've never seen a deer do so much damage to a vehicle before and the officer could not believe that the airbags did not deploy on us and said that we most definitely need to check into it because he would assume that they were recalled but here we are and they're not.

We hit a deer going 70 mph last night on interstate 10 headed westbound , upon impact the airbags did not go off. We smelled something that smelled like it was burning, it was the igniter to the airbags. Now the car is giving us a service airbag message on the screen. Our airbags all failed to deploy.

The contact stated while driving at 20 mph the contacted had glare coming from front windshiled from an oncoming vehicle headlights which caused the contact to crash into a mailbox and a safety street sign. Causing the damage to front passenger side of the vehilce causing a crack into his oil pan. But the contact stated the air bags did not deployed. No warning light illumintated from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer and the manufactuere was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. Vw.

The passenger airbag sensor was not working correctly. It would sometimes not register if someone was sitting in the seat or not. Then the service airbag light came on and has stayed on. This means that the airbags will not deploy in case of a crash. This is a major safety issue. I looked up to see if there was a recall on it. There isn't an open recall on my particular VIN number but there is on some of the same model. I have seen many complaints from other owners of 2007 chevy Equinoxes. I believe this is a manufacturer problem and should have a recall issued for it. The repair cost is about $1000.

Air bags did not deploy or come out upon extremely high impact: the air bags in my 2017 Equinox did not deploy out or come out when we where hit at a extremely high impact from the hit and run driver and the impact caused us to hit head on into an white SUV that was in front of us on the opposite side of the street going south on laramie. My fianc� was driving and I was on the passenger side in we was going west on expressway and we had exited of laramie and harrison. Fianc� lashanti scott that's on my insurance on the my 2017 Equinox was driving so we made an right turn on laramie going north towards laramie and harrison. As we where approaching and crossings the light that was green at the next light, as we proceeded crossing the green light, an ss black SUV was coming from west of harrison towards us at an extremely high speed 60-65 miles per hour. There was no time to adjust and recover to avoid the SUV that hit us at such a high rate of speed. The ss black SUV that hit us in the front passenger side of my 2017 Equinox in which caused my 2017 Equinox from the impact to crash head onto an white SUV that was driving the opposite side going south of laramie towards harrison. And from the high impact of the ss black SUV that hit us spent around and hit us again on the back rear passenger side of my 2017 Equinox also.

Tl the contact owned a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while her husband was driving about 25 mph, he suffered a medical condition and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a three feet high cement boulder. The air bags did not deploy. Both the driver and the front passenger sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The driver and the passenger had their seat belts latched at the time of the crash. The vehicle was totaled and was towed to a tow yard. The dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

I was driving home from work. While making a turn my car was unable to brake. I slammed into a telephone pole which my airbags did not deploy. My car hit the pole a hard right. My head and neck was push forward extremely fast causing trauma.

Traveling straight on city street, 30 mph, was t-boned in center of driver's side door. Side airbag did not deploy? damage to both doors, center and lower pillar, and the traction control bar bent. Concussion and bruising from inside pillar to driver. Driver was wearing seat belt at time of collision.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph making a right turn crashed into the front quarter panel of a unknown pick up truck. Driving home I was approaching intersection in which a few cars were beginning to move as I approached the red light. On a county highway, upon seeing the slow start, I began breaking. Unfortunately I continually pushed brake pedal to floor numerous times with no ability to stop and ran my vehicle under back end of a fedex delivery truck. One head on collision occurred my airbag canisters initiated but but the air bags never deployed after impact I did receive indicator notification stating airbag service required. Prior to the collision o have had total rebuild of motor from block upward by GMC I reported that numerous times while on hwy my card would suddenly stall/ lag . Going from 65-70mph down to 20-30mph. Have had engine maintained well and changing oil etc was told all 3 times I took it is it resulted nothing that could be replicated. Despite having been lucky since it common apparantly for my vehichle to begin loses oil and has to be refilled q-2 x week ly. ( seems to be common complaint from automotive men to state all is good. 1) it is not all good. 2) I could have been killed or seriously injured because of stalling, failed breaking system and lack of air bag. Deployment. I also took several times for timing belt repair and even had motor rebuilt and also despite just having put on when this started 3 monthseago, have had issues since 4 mo after buying vehicle ( had 20,000 miles on it . Of course am always told not in warranty time limit or my VIN # not included in cars identified of increased risk and always told there is an inability to replicate complaints. Well now I have a totalled car but praise be to god he still writing my story and I am unharmed and will need new vehichle.

My daughters 2007 Equinox , has the well known, passenger side airbag sensor failure problem. In. Case of an accident the passenger side airbag will not deploy. This is an $800 +/- fix. Several thousand Equinox, torrent, Saturn and other gm cars built on this platform are affected. Several model years suffer from this ailment. "failure of the air bag to deploy can result in increased injuries or death. " the Saturn sky and pontiac solstice had this same problem and it was corrected recently under recall. It is my opinion that these vehicles should be recalled and this problem corrected.

Takata recall: my car was involved in a 3 car crash at the corner of 28th Ave n and 4th st. N on December 14, 2018. I was in the median waiting to cross oncoming traffic when I perceived the lanes were clear and proceeded to cross the road. I was t-boned by an oncoming Dodge avenger, into the front end of a Jeep wrangler and pushed into a stop sign. My airbags failed to deploy but the avenger's passenger and driver airbags deployed. I was taken to bayfront er by ambulance and admitted to trauma department suffering a sternum fracture and compressed chest injuries. My left hand also suffered a possible fracture. The police report is not factual. It states my airbags were deployed but from the picture you can clearly see they were not and the insurance adjuster will testify that they were not deployed.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 50 mph, another vehicle crashed into the driver's door of the contact's vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained neck pains and the passenger sustained a severe concussion and a broken right elbow. Both occupants received medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and "no system malfunction" appeared. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and an appointment was scheduled with an independent mechanic. The failure mileage was 19,000.

I hit a deer on the front passenger side. After I hit it I heard a loud noise and my car filled with dust coming from the dash were the passenger airbag is. I was told that the airbag was activated but did not deploy. Which now caused my vehicle to be totaled. In my 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, noontime, Sunday, sitting at red light pointed west, three lane road, waiting to cross 7 lane road, got the green light, proceeded forward up to maybe 10mph and got to about 2nd lane of 7 to cross intersection, then wham, I am hit in the intersection, left side just in front of front wheel, by car that ran red light at full speed going north, basically took front of my car off, spun me 1 3/4 times to now face south, the air bags did not deploy, my body left side head, shoulder and hip hit the left side interior even though my seat beat was on (was dazed and had help getting belt off) and received concussion, neck injury, hearing difficulty, accelerated memory loss issues, damaged shoulder, hip troubles, bouts of unexplained outbursts from little anxiety stimulus, heightened startle response, nightmares, and severe trouble controlling anxiety that were all not present prior to the crash. The car was totaled immediately by the insurance company, and even though witnesses saw that I had the green and that the car that hit me at a 90 degree and estimated to be doing 35-50mph while running the red light, the attorney was unable to block the quick disappear of the vehicle and the police investigators crash site notes and report was very incomplete and wrongly documented the accident. My concern is that I have lingering pains, hip trouble, still low pain left side head, neck tensions, new memory issues, severe anxiety attacks that cause over 220 bp and panic breathing issues, and new struggles with mobility I did not have before the crash, and that with horrific impact that spun me nearly 2 times around, took the front of car, declared total loss -- why did none of air bags go off in this 2014 Chevrolet Equinox this accident crash June 24, 2018 ??? attached 5 pics my vehicle next day +crash sketch +florida dhsmv crash report me&my car. Vehicle was involved in a crash where another car hit me in the passenger side up front in a hard crash. The entire front end and right side of the vehicle was damaged frame rails were bent and ac components was in the motor. Air bags did not deploy insurance totaled the vehicle 17,200 of damages.

The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, to avoid colliding with another vehicle, the contact crashed into a concrete embankment, the air bag failed to deploy. The contact sustained right shoulder, left arm injuries that required medical attention. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The contact called allen tillery auto dealer, located at 4573 central Ave, hot spring, ar 71913, (501) 881-4160 and was informed since the air bags was just installed it should of deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not offer further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000. Aw.

Passenger air bag alarm goes off when seat is empty and occasionally the passenger air bag turns off while an adult passenger is in the seat due to a faulty connector. This happens sporadically during all types of driving, idling or while parked. The concern that during an impact the faulty connector will cause the passenger side airbag to not deploy while a passenger is in the seat is highly worry some and even though chevy is aware of the condition, they won't recall or fix the issue. Timing chain failure can cause sudden unexpected engine shutoff while driving causing a loss of control of the vehicle and sudden stalling during acceleration and deceleration leading to possible collisions as the engine shuts off with no warning. Chevy is aware of the timing chain issues in their 2. 4l engines and yet hasn't issued a recall even though catrophic engine damage and probably loss of life due to loss of control collisions. Engine shutoff due to chain stretch or failure can occur as any time during driving or engine running conditions.

Since I purchased this vehicle, I constantly get a "service airbag" message on my dashboard. I have notified the dealer as well as gm/chevorlet by phone and was told that unfortunately there is no recall for this. I took my car to the dealer in which I purchased and since they did not see the message they said there is nothing they can do. I fear (god forbid) being in an accident and the airbag does not deploy. I do travel with my children in which one of the 3 is a toddler. Is there anything that can be done. - also which is very annoying my key gets stuck in the ignition. Now I have 2 sets of keys one gets stuck more than the other, but there are times where I have to spend hours trying to remove it - I took it to the dealer but once again was told nothing is wrong with this. I have seen numerous videos and forums with the same complaint. Needles to say I would never purchase a chevy again! too many issues for a car that I've only had a few years.

The light indicating the passenger airbag is armed doesn't go on anymore. I had this diagnosed and the code b0081 shows up indicating a faulty passenger presence module. With the module not sensing a passenger, the air bag probably will not deploy in the event of a crash. The dealer said it's not under recall, although the 2007 Equinox was recalled for this defect.

While driving 55 mph on flat 2 lane rural highway hit a large coyote or wolf the air bag fired but did not deploy seat belts cinched up, interior lights came on, emergency flasher came on and onstar came on line and advised of a air bag deployment and asked if I was ok.

The contact rented a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle violently shook and veered to the left and right. As a result, the contact lost control and collided with a guardrail. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The police officer stated that the front passenger rim was shattered. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard. The contact did not state if the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
