I was involved in an accident and was hit twice from behind. The chemical from the side airbag was released but the airbag did not deploy. The chemical was a fine mist or light smoke. The seat belt locked the first time I was hit. I am not sure when the airbag mist occurred (? with the first or second hit) they happened within seconds of each other. A "service airbag" warning light is now illuminated. The vehicle is going in for repairs as a result of the crash and this will be addressed. I just wanted to report this. I have also notified Chevrolet directly.

The contact owned a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving approximately 65 mph in the left lane of three lane traffic, a semi-truck merged from the middle lane to the left lane and crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle spun around and the air bags did not deploy. The contact was knocked unconscious and received extensive medical treatment. The contact sustained injuries to the wrists, back, and neck and had a CT scan for lower back pains. The manufacturer was not notified of the crash. The insurance company towed the vehicle to a yard. Takata recall, intermittently when starting the car the service airbag light will come on, this started at about 50,000 miles. Usually if the car is turned off and restarted the message will disappear. Occasionally, while the car is in motion the message will appear. It usually clears if the car is stopped and restarted. Until I started researching, I thought it was just an electrical glitch. Now I realize it's a real safety issue. Thank god, I haven't had a major collision, my airbags might not deploy. This year model should definitely be included in the recall. My car now has 95,000 miles on it. I don't even feel comfortable selling this car with these issues. I wouldn't want to endanger other families.

Service airbag has been on for about 6 months; currently the passenger airbag "off" is illuminated. I am going to assume that means the passengeer airbag will not deploy during an accident. I have been reading online and it seems like this is a common problem with the Chevrolet Equinox and chevy nor general motors have put a recall on the defective air bags. Dtc incorrect b0081 (right sis installed) and b0074 (passenger occupant classification sensor circuit) seems to be the cause.

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph, crashed into a curb. A police officer was present but a police report was not filed. The contact stated that the on-star reading indicated that the air bags deployed. The contact stated that when a crash happened the air bags did not deploy. The dealer wanted to tow the vehicle in for diagnosis to determine how the failure happened. The contact was waiting on instructions from the manufacturer to investigate why the on-star report showed the air bags deploying however, the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained back pains and abrasions from the seat belt. After the crash happened, the drivers side seat belt failed to retract. The contact also heard an abnormal noise and there was an abnormal noise when the failure happened associated with the crash. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v666000 (air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. Dyd.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 40-45 mph in inclement weather, the vehicle crashed into a pole. The air bags failed to deploy during the crash. A half mile from the crash site, the side curtain air bags and driver's seat air bag inadvertently deployed. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. I was driving 79mph down interstate 295 when a voulcher flew into my front driver side lower car panel causing the air bag canister to deploy but not the airbag itself. The airbag light came on and the service airbag came up on my display. I contacted state patrol and they came out to see the damage but could not file a report. I do however, have the state patrol officers name and email address. I had to get my car towed and taken to a garage where an airbag specialist came out and claimed that the airbag system was messed up and it had to be replaced along with my seatbelts. I was not injured luckily but it is scary to know that my airbag did not deploy.

I was stopped behind another vehicle making a turn. I was then rear ended by another vehicle at approx. 30mph. This cause me to be pushed into the vehicle in front of me. There is extensive damage front and rear of my vehicle. The airbags never deployed. Right after the accident, onstar call me to as if I need medical attention, because there system alerted them of a an accident. Now both my front seatbelts are locked in place and the service airbag light is on. I was pushed so hard into the vehicle infront of me that my metal bumper support is cracked 80% of the way through. I sustained a mild concussion and whiplash because of this accident. With all the damage front and rear, those airbags should have been deployed.

Was traveling on interstate at approx 15 miles and hour when I was rear ended. The air bags did not deploy however, smoke filled the cab of the vehicle. Due to the amount of damage on the vehicle, the vehicle was totaled. .

Was driving to work and a herd of deer jumped out in front of me I hit one near the front passenger side and my seat belt locked up and a funny smell came over the inside of my car. The service air bag light came on and hasn't shut off my 4ways turned on automatically but the air bags did not deploy. I think that since this car is less than 2 years old and I purchased it to make me feel safe that a faulty airbag deployment is ridiculous and I should be able to trade this car in. I don't feel safe driving with a tight seat belt and my air bag light on. I can't believe how many people have had issues with this. The money I am spending to buy this car is outrageous as it is then for this to happen and it not work the way it is intended to I would like to be reimbursed in some way.

I purchased a car from drivetime, in the year of 2012, a 2006 chevy Equinox [awd]. On November 22, 2014, I was in my car and entering a blinf curve, when another car came head to head towards my SUV. I turned to the right to keep from going head on with the car. There was a 6 foot drop ditch on my passenger side. I swriled to keep from goig into the ditch and hit a telegram pole instead. I do not remember much, becasue I blink out for at least ten minutes, my nephew said. In the course of this hit and run accident, my airbags did not deploye. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. After I was released from the hospital, I called my mechanic to check my car to see if the damages can be fixed without using my insurance. To my shocked, he expressed that my airbag was never connected in my truck. I contacted drivetime dealership, they said it ws expressed in my contract that they did not warrant the airbag neither did they gaurantee that the work. I entered a panic phase, and the nightmares never stop. I almost died because they sold me a truck with disconnected airbags. I am afraid to drive my car, becasue next time I might not be so lucky. The car is in the shop, and they are harrassing me to pay the car not, and when will I get the car out of the shop. I asked them will they fix the airbag, they said no, and if I do not pay the car note that they would reppossess my car, and it would effect my credit. I am afraid of this car. Ii am disabled and I travel with a service dog [german sheppard]. She was hurt for a few days, after the incidence.

Passenger side airbag does not turn on when person is sitting in the seat. I've had people up to 250 pounds sitting on passenger side and it still won't turn on airbag. This is a very high risk of injury or fatality to passenger if air bag does not deploy if in an accident. So many others are saying same thing how is this not on a recall list yet or at least being investigated.

Air bag sensor for front seat passenger turns the air bag on and off intermittently while vehicle is in motion, even with an adult passenger (over 100 lbs) in the front seat. This could cause the air bag not to deploy in the event of a crash.

I hit a pole and the airbags did not deploy, but I hit the pole a little off the center on the front end I don't know if that matters I'm very upset with this and I guess there's not much I can do my car was totaled.

I was traveling south as another car was traveling north. The car traveling north made a rapid left turn directly in my traveling path. We collided and my car was totaled. I hit the steering wheel pretty hard because the airbag did not deploy. How should I proceed?.

Air bags did not deploy at or above the mfg. Thresholds. Which caused for no air bag deployment and significant facial trauma on the steering wheel. Seat belt pretenstioners also did pretension causing the upper torso to go forward and cause the facial trauma on the steering wheel.

Took to dealership who stated steering module went out and replaced at my own cost. Very dangerous to loose steering control while driving. Entire steering and interior control module was also replaced a second time. Dealer stated it was normal for this to wear out and need replaced. Service stabilitrack warning still continues to come on occasionally. Took to dealership again and they said they could not find any issue. Hopefully the steering will not go out this time while I am going down a major highway at higher speeds. Have also continuously experienced issues with water in the vehicle. Can hear the water sloshing around. Water in the headlights making it difficult to see at night. Door locks only work intermittently. Car was involved in an accident, front end collision and air bags did not deploy. Serious safety risk.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the power steering was faulty. The vehicle was repaired but no further information was available. In a separate incident the contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary a second vehicle crashed into the front end of the vehicle. During the incident the seat belts malfunctioned and the air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered neck, hand and knee injuries and the front passenger suffered head, lung and rib injuries during the crash. A police report was taken at the scene. As I approached an intersection, I hit the rear end of a Ford 150 pick up truck that was in the intersection waiting to make a left turn. My approx speed was 15 miles per hour. I had my seatbelt on, I was taken by ambulance to the hospital - my evaluation revealed sprain/strain to my neck, fractured right ankle, and chest wall discomfort related to the seat belt. The car was totaled --- the airbag did not deploy.
