We were involved in a car accident. We ran into the back of a pickup truck that suddenly stopped on the toll road for another car that was in an accident. Our front end of the car was heavily damaged. Our concern is that our air bags did not deploy. With the amount of damage that our car received why did the air bags not deploy. The state trooper the did the report looked into the car and wondered the same thing. I will attach pictures. We are taking into the body shop tomorrow. They said it maybe two weeks before they start on it. The seat belts saved our lives. The air bags did not. We are taking into the body shop tomorrow. There were no warning signs before the accident.

My passenger seat belt light on can you let me know what to do.
Hello, on September 5, 2025 I was driving my 2015 chevy Equinox. I was in a collision while driving my 2015 Equinox going at a speed of 60 mph on a highway. On the day of the collision I hit a cargo truck that was carrying vehicles an it completely destroyed the front of my 2015 chevy Equinox despite the severity of the impact. None of the airbags deployed. Fortunately me and my daughter did not sustain any injuries but I agree strongly that air bags should have deployed by the severity and location of the impact. This could have been more dangerous if someone else had been in the vehicle or if the wreck was slightly worse. My vehicle was viewed by the police at scene but no one else. There was no warning lights or messages prior to the accident. I am submitting this report because I believe the airbag system may have failed and I wanna make sure this is investigated I still have the vehicle and can provide photos and further details if needed.

The front passenger seatbelt failed to tighten on impact as all the other seatbelts did. Passenger was thrown about the front area, hitting multiple parts of the body. Car is currently in a tow lot. Siempre se le prende la luz “atiende airbag” hace 2 años la compuse que fue el sensor y ahora tengo 2 semanas que se se le prendio la lleve al dealer y que la bolsa salió defectuosa DE fábrica y ES muy caro .
About six months ago, my steering wheel would get hot in the middle of it, but I kind of didn’t know what that was but then now my airbag sensor came on and then went off. I’m not really sure but I feel like something’s not right with it. Gonna go get it fixed, but I don’t feel like it should be something that was not recalled because it’s not right.

There is a warning to service airbag. I took to dealership there is a recall on thus issue for certain vins, but not mine. They said my sensor under passenger seat is defective and would cost $1800+ to fix. I don't understand if this is a known issue and recall for some vehicles. . . Why not mine?.
Component or system failed: the airbag system failed to deploy during three separate accidents in 2024. The vehicle is still in my possession and available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: the failure of the airbags to deploy during all three incidents increased the risk of injury to me and my passengers. While the seatbelts provided some protection, the lack of airbag deployment compromised the safety system and could have resulted in serious injuries in higher-severity impacts. Accident details: 1. Accident #1 (July 2024): •type: side collision on the driver’s rear door. •other vehicle speed: estimated 30–40 mph. •damage: significant damage to the driver’s side rear door. •airbag deployment: none. •warnings or errors: no warning lights or messages before or after the incident. 2. Accident #2 (March 2024): •type: sideswipe collision on the passenger front end. •my vehicle’s impact: passenger side front wheel and body. •damage: the front wheel was severely damaged. •airbag deployment: none. •warnings or errors: no warning lights or messages before or after the incident. Inspection status: the issue has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a Chevrolet dealership or independent service center. Insurance adjusters inspected the vehicle after each accident, but no specific investigation into the airbag system was performed. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the vehicle. Warning lamps or symptoms prior to failure: there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms.

A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and later towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. Oil consumption issues, engine failure, does not indicate oil low light when oil is low, catalytic converter failure.
Was in an accident, where my front bumper was hit going about 60 and air bags did not deploy.
Accident involving frontal impact with a deer. Heard and smelled propellant charge for airbag and service airbag light came on, no airbag inflation anywhere I could find it. Front grille/bumper cap, ac core, passenger fender are scrap. Any other cases of this.
Car received a front impact and airbags did not deploy despite the alert on the dash saying “service airbags” immediately after collision. Seat belts engaged though.
Got into a front end collision, vehicle was totaled. Front airbags didn't deploy. Steering wheel and side airbags deployed about 5 minutes after the accident. My head hit the driver side window, cracking the whole window. Had a concussion from that.

I was in an accident when my 2018 chevy Equinox rear ended a stopped vehicle at a traffic light. There was significant damage to the front of my vehicle 12k plus. The emergency braking system did not activate, nor did the airbags. My wife experienced severe contusions to the chest area. We wonder why the emergency braking system or airbags failed to deploy.

After taking my vehicle to three repair shops I was advised by the last body shop that there was a bulletin (14159) out in regards to excessive engine oil consumption. The mechanic explained the issues I am having with my car is due to the excessive engine oil consumption. He stated the car is not losing oil it’s burning it. My entire engine is effected due to this issue. To go further in detail my car was cutting on and off in the middle of traffic. This is a huge safety issue for me I have a disabled son who I travel with on the daily. I quote “ all consumers should receive notice of a recall affecting them. Car manufacturers are required to notify registered owners and purchasers of all recalled cars by letter, and state agencies will provide manufacturers with lists of registered owners for this purpose. ” I never received a letter concerning a recall or this issue. I took very well care of my vehicle my car is a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and it only has 108,774miles. This is so devastating I have no other transportation and now I’m stuck looking for a new vehicle. If any documentation is needed I can assure you I can provide it.

There is a sb-10058723-5799, that addresses airbags. I have a 2011 chevy Equinox with 94k miles on it. The ‘service airbag’ error stays on the screen. I called chevy to ask if I can bring vehicle in under sb 10058723-5799, and they told me my vehicle does not fall under this, and they say the sb 10058723-5799 is expired. I asked they lady, so if the airbag deploys while I’m driving 65mph on the freeway, you’re not going to fix it under a recall that you say is expired. This makes absolutely no sense, and I believe it should fall under NHTSA’s special bulletin. Please help me. Thank you for your time.
