Passenger airbag light shows not on all the time-with or without passenger in seat. Message to service airbags on all the time. Now seatbelt light is flashing even when in use. Service stabiltrack light comes on and off. Reading all the other comments I see this is a common complaint. Recently had my car in to replace fuel pump that was a recall for others but a "special repair" for my car. Told dealer about problems with airbag and stabilitrak and was told it would cost about $150. 00 each to do the diagnostic tests. What is it going to take for these problems to become recalls for all the affected cars?.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. When the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact also stated that the front passenger air bag warning indicator illuminated and remained lit. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact was concerned that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 07v344000 (air bags) and 12v459000 (fuel system, gasoline). The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
The airbag light says off when there is an adult passenger riding in the seat. This has been happening on and off for over a year. The dashboard on the passenger side is cracking around the airbag. The crack is outlining the space where the airbag would pop out from. It appears unsafe as if it's faulty and could initiate at any minute. After doing some research it looks as if other models with similar problems have been recalled. I've seen similar complaints online for this model but no recalls are shown. There are other 2009 gms that have recalls issued.

My airbag light is on saying airbag maintenance. I was not involved in a accident.
When adult passenger sitting in right front passenger seat, the air bag light doesnt turn on.
Air bag indicator on/off on dash works part of the time when right seat is occupied so I can only assume that the right air bag is not activated when the light is showing off. This is the same problem the 2007 Equinox had a recall on but all safety complaints on the 08 have been overlooked, cost of repairs are around a $1,000. 00. Since it had been an on going problem why hasn't there been a recall for the 08 model?.
Ii see a recall for this unit on the web but the dealer said not coverege the recall. . . Please help me my family is on risk. . . . The air bag light is of when the passenger seat and in the istrument panel said service airbags.
My airbag light is on for no obvious reason. . . I have no idea whether or not it is a takata. There are many complaints online about this year make and model. . . Apparently this is a common problem? there needs to be a recall because the manufacturer needs to pay for this.

The dealer diagnosed that the front passenger seat needed to be replaced. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 07v344000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 184,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator was constantly illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the seat electronic control unit needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v344000 (air bags). When I have a passenger (adult or child) sit on the front (passenger seat) the air bag light sometimes illuminates that the airbag is "on" and sometimes it's "off" while the passenger is sitting. I've also noticed that if my passenger is sitting still, the light will stay "on" but as soon as the passenger moves, the light will change to "off". At first it seemed like a "temperamental" issue because sometimes it just stayed on the "on" position while the passenger sat. I took my car to the gm dealer when the issue became more often and they diagnosed an issue recommended to have the passenger presence module replaced. On researching, I found that there are recalls for this particular issue but on earlier chevy model cars.
Passenger side air bag is intermittingly on and off. In motion and sitting still. Get "service air bag" on dic, and passenger air bag on/ off indicator shows off with passenger seat occupied. No pattern - just sporadic. Very concerned about it not working in a crash, as well as going off on its own. Happens stationary and in motion.
My service airbag light comes on and off at random times with or without an occupant in the seats. I have ran a code reader on it and it stated that it relates to the passenger occupancy sensor. Dealership could not replicate the complaint. It comes on and off while in motion or at rest. Started to happen around 85000 miles and currently have 91000 miles on the vehicle.

When I have a passenger in the seat the airbag never comes on and the airbag light stays on and tells me it needs service. Also all my gauges are all out of wack not sure if it is a recall or not once I hit 100,000 miles all these things came about. Also there was a recall on the fuel system and at the time I did not have a problem as of yet, on 9/29/15 I then smelled the gas and called mk smith Chevrolet to see if there were any recalls on this and they told me no, so I did take it somewhere else to be fixed due to it being cheaper for me and got it fixed and paid $633. 60. I have document for that. Now my key in the ignition does not come out and I hear a clicking noise by the ignition I'm not sure if that as well is a recall on the Equinox 2007. Please let me know if any of these problems are recalls on my vehicle. I just have read all these other complaints on the same issues on the Equinox 2007.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel, regardless if an occupant was occupying the seat. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v344000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator randomly illuminated. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 07v520000 (air bags) and 07v344000 (air bags). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 151,000.
Airbag light has been on since 102,000 miles. Won't go off took it in for diagnosis and was told need a new pps module. It wasn't covered under my extended warranty. So didn't get it fix would have cost $900. Seen all kinds of problems with this make and model with same problem. And that 2007 were recalled but not 2008. And considering the recall was made in 2008 don't you think they should have included 2008 models as well?? hoping they will still issue a recall soon so we can get it fixed!!! to me this is a safety issue and should be a proirity and fixed!!!.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
The passenger service air bag light came on. The passenger "on / off" light stays on the off position when a passenger is setting in the seat.
Service passenger airbag light on for last year all the time.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. While the vehicle was stationary, the air bag light illuminated without warning. The issue recurred while driving 35 mph. The vehicle was taken to be repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 30,700.

Passenger airbag light will turn itself off/on while driving or if vehicle is at a standstill. Even if no one is sitting in the seat. Service airbag light comes on every time passenger airbag sensor turns off.
Service airbag light came on after passenger seat and airbag light turned off. The side 2 passenger airbag kept going on and off until finally it shut down. Have never been in an accident nor has the airbags had a problem before. Safety issue here needs fixing. Multiple things started happening after I hit 50k miles. Tires losing air, passenger bag not working and sound going off and on.
The service airbag light comes on randomly. This seems to be a common problem with the 2010 Equinox, why is there no recall on this since it disables the airbag system? since this is a serious safety concern why has the national highway traffic safety administration not done anything about it?.
My passenger side air bag light will not go off. It doesn't matter if you anyone is sitting in the seat or not.
A few months ago, I took my car into the dealer to diagnose a check airbag light. $122 later, my vehicle was found to have a "faulty passenger presence module. " I was quoted over $1000 in repairs and given no other options. I declined the repairs in lieu of confirming with an independent mechanic as I have had issues with that service department before regarding a faulty fuel system (which was recalled and I was not informed). My independent mechanic confirmed the passenger sensing unit was not working properly and after further investigation, I found that this part (much like the debacle with my fuel pump) was also a recalled. I am referring to NHTSA campaign#07v344000. My VIN# is included within the designated VIN breaking points; however, it does not qualify individually. I find this infuriating. If the part is known to be faulty, and it's the same part placed into pontiac/chevy vehicles then why are only some of these faulty parts included in the recall???? this was the same situation with my faulty fuel pump, in which I paid cash for the part and repairs and then 6 months later received a letter from gm stating my VIN# was now included. I phoned the dealer and gm directly and they offered me no options other than pay $611 for the part and estimated another $500 in labor. I have found on numerous gm forums that this issue with the ppm is very common with 2007-2009 pontiac and chevy vehicles with those owners getting the same excuse from gm and no recall coverage. I am hoping that in the future someone from the NHTSA will look into this campaign and expand the vehicles involved as it seems to be a dealer/part issue and affects the overall safety of the vehicle.
Passenger-side airbag sensor doesn't go on or goes on and off while in car driving or stationary. Looks like this is the same issue from the 2007 recall, but not extended to the 2008. Haven't taken it to a dealership yet but seems to be a common problem. This problem started around 80,000 miles. The airbag sensor indicator says service airbag all the time and the seatbelt indicator for the passenger side is on all the time whether the seatbelt is on or not.
Warning notice to service airbag is on and will not go off. The airbag light is illuminated for the passenger and driver. I have taken my car in to have this issued checked; however, the technicians stated there was no issues and could not find a problem to fix. I am very concerned that air bags will malfunction while transporting myself and/or family as this is a ongoing issue 2007 Equinox. Gm is aware of this issue and refuses to recall.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 95,978.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. While the vehicle was parked, the passenger side air bag light failed to illuminate. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the passenger seat electronic control unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v344000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not made of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000.
Airbag light came on one day and has never went off.
