"takata recall" my vehicle ignition switch has went out and my " service air bag " light has came on as well. I searched my VIN number on this site and "0 recalls" shows up as a result. However its hard to believe that the exact same problems that was once recalled are both in tact on my vehicle. In addition to, I recently searched "ignition switch recall" on the recall list and "chevy Impala 2013 " came up as result and that is currently the vehicle im driving and that is the problem im having. I reached out the dealership and they informed said my vehicle isn't listed for recalls however like stated before I have that same vehicle with the same problem and nothing can be done. To add more information dealership even informed that the recall has expired but the problem had just begun.

10 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/23/2016

This problem includes more items than your form allows me to check. It stated out about 7 months ago when you would be driving down the road and the service stable tract and service traction control light would come on causing the engine power to be reduced which is an annoence but is also a safety issue is you are passing someone on a two lane road when it happens and you can not complete the pass due to reduced power. If you pulled off to the side of the road and shut the car off the service lights would go away and may not come on again for weeks. This problem went away after a couple of months and then the car started a new one with a no crank, no start problem which when this would happen you would get up to three warning lights, (service table trac, service traction control, and service air bags) with time the no crank, no start problem kept coming and going and the only light that came on when it wouldn't crank or start was the service air bag light. If you kept trying to start it after 3 to 30 times it would start and run fine and may not act up again for 1 day or even up to a week. A couple of weeks ago I had my wife switch cars with me as this was the car she drove to work daily and I didn't want her to get stranded. I am so glad I did that as the very first day I drove it to work on my way home while driving down the highway the car shut off for no reason and the service air bag light came on, I lost my power steering and power brakes and again I could have been in very big trouble if this would have happened when I was trying to pass another car and I don't think the air bags will deploy with the service air bag light on. I reported the to Chevrolet and they told me trying to fix it would be at my cost since it is out of warranty. The local dealer and found that they have been trying for 3 days to find a no crank, no start on a corvet with no luck.

12 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/23/2015

I took the car to hank graff Chevrolet in davison, mi for warranty work and the service airbag soon light was on. They replaced seatbelt tensioner on the passenger seat and the light remained off for a month. Now the light is on again and the car is out of warranty. I believe that gm should stand behind these safety mechanisms regardless of any warranty. I was told that in the event of a crash the airbags would not deploy if the warning light is on, yet I absolutely refuse to pay for a problem with a safety device intended to last the lifetime of the car. Gm cannot ignore faulty safety equipment like they ignored the faulty ignition switches.

13 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/19/2015

The contact owned a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph in very light rain when the vehicle exhibited an abnormal clicking noise four times successively. The front end of the vehicle then seemed to drop to the ground causing the steering wheel to seize, the traction control warning light to flash and the brakes to become inoperable. The contact also stated that the air bag erroneously deployed and knocked her unconscious. The vehicle then traveled off the roadway, into a woody area and crashed into a tree. The contact was awoken by the screams of her small children, who were sitting in the rear of the vehicle. Two child passengers were injured and suffered lacerations to the face, contusions of the shoulders, face, head injuries and a concussion. The contact sustained a sprained neck, fractured spine, and a concussion, clotting in the skull, a chest wall contusion and lacerations to the legs. All three passengers required medical attention. The contact and all passengers were able to exit the vehicle without further injuries. A police report was filed of the incident, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. 14 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

When trying to start this vehicle it will not crank over. The lights on the dash light up and the proper noises as if your starting your car come on; however the service airbag sign comes across my dash and the car will not crank over. I tried to use the keyless entry and this does not work either. I have placed a passenger in the front passenger side of vehicle and after leaving the ignition switch to on for a few minutes the car will then crank over. It will either start or just crank over and act as though it will start. If it does not start the first attempt I wait several more minutes and mess around getting in and out of the passenger seat. It will crank over and start. After reading several complaints on. . . Read more...

16 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/06/2014

I was traveling on a 2 lane road. A truck pulling an enclosed trailer was in front of me turned on his right blinker and began to brake to make the turn. I was traveling 77 mph, so I moved to the oncoming traffic lane (the left lane) in order to pass the truck. At the last second the truck swerved into the left lane in order to make a wide turn. I abruptly jerked the steering wheel right to avoid collision with the truck, but the vehicle seemed to lose power steering as well as power brakes. I was unable to straighten the steering wheel back after jerking it to the right to go back into the right lane; my vehicle hit the back of the enclosed trailer and then hit steep ditch where my back passenger tire popped and the vehicle flipped onto its roof. The vehicles airbags failed to deploy even though the vehicle has significant damage to the front , top and sides of it. I regained conscientiousness I attempted to turn the car off and remove the keys from the ignition. But I realized that the keys were not I n the ignition. I crawled out of the passenger window to exit the vehicle. The keys were later found by my husband loose in the vehicle. I hit my head hard when the vehicle flipped, good deal of blood on me from what ended up being multiple superficial lacerations as well as a deep wound in my left knee, which required 12 stitches to close up. I will have a scar from it for the rest of my life. I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and was released around 9 pm. 2 days later we received the ignition switch recall notice in the mail gm refuses to answer any of our questions regarding this wreck. Gm did retrieve the black box info from the vehicle. , they refuse to provide us with any explanation to why the airbags failed to deploy or why there seemed to be a malfunction within the car which led to the accident.

17 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

While driving with a passenger in the front seat, the passenger airbag would switch off for no reason without the passenger moving. This happened a number of times over about a week. Then on Friday October 3rd, 2014 it happened again and this time right after it happened all the gauges dropped including fuel, mph, rpm, etc. . . So I pulled into a parking lot and before I was able to stop, the computer module in the car died as well as the engine. I ended up hitting a light post in the parking lot while avoiding a pedestrian. The car has since ceased to start at all. Luckily no one was hurt but this car was clearly not safe. I consider myself very lucky.

23 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/10/2014

I was driving on the freeway in traffic and I switch lane to carpool lane. As I was picking up speed when I was rear ended from behind pushed down forward further and my car turned and slammed onto the center divider lane. After my car struck center divider lane same car who hit me has not slowed down and hit me again on high impact behind driver side passenger door and gas tank smashing onto my rear wheel. None of the air bags deployed in my car. I am 5'1 in height and weight about 133lb. We bounced around as well as my backseat passenger who is my daughter who was seating in a booster seat and we were both wearing seat-belts. When the car hit us sideways and jerked us around my head slammed by the door panel and busted my head open which caused it to bleed badly. Believe it was the initial impact from the rear my keys flew out of the ignition and on to the floor in the backseat floor firefighter had to search because I told them as soon as they showed up "my car is still running I don't know where the keys are at!" the ignition was still in on position as if the key was in it. My doors on driver side and behind driver side was smashed and my car shifted out of its alignment that even my daughter who was in the rear seat behind the front passenger side of my car her door could not be opened by the fire department. We were both removed from the front passenger side door and ambulance transported us to hospital. My daughter who is 10 years of age was shaken up sick to her stomach dizzy with minor bruises. I suffer bruises on top of my foot. Bruises on my thigh my legs bounced up and hit the stirring wheel. Bruises on both my arms and my draughts arms and elbow! we are both tender and soar all over the bodies but, praise god we are alive! by the way my car is totaled and its paid for. 25 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

We purchased a used 2009 chevy Impala around February 2014. Within a week of driving it we started hearing a loud clicking noise anytime we unlocked the doors or cut on the heat but everything seemed to be working fine so we just dealt with noise. I did look online only to find tons of people with the same problem and I also had multiple friends who said nearly every Impala like mine they had been in made that same noise, wow! seriously? but me being the chevy lover, I just saw it as a minor issue maybe missed in production but not really a safety hazard. Then a couple of months later that seems to have went away but now it takes about 2 minutes to get the ac to switch from defrost to blowing out of the dash vents. You can still hear it on, but it doesn't actually start blowing for about 2 minutes. Still, not a big deal. Then I was driving about 15mph(near a school) when a low oil pressure power off engine light came on and went off quickly, I pulled over and cut the car off and back on, no more issues. A few days later my service air bag light started coming on randomly, hmm, so if that light is on will my air bags deploy if needed? not sure. . . Then I get alarms that someone in the passenger seat was not buckled in, but there was no one in the passenger seat. Then my car starts cutting off randomly while I'm driving. This morning I backed out of my driveway and it just cut off leaving me in the middle of the street for a few minutes with no way for other cars to get around me. . . . It would have been terrible if I was pulling out and another car sped around the corner. Then there is a recall notice sent to me stating I should remove everything from my key due to ignition failure recall. I saw on cbs you could request a free loaner vehicle until parts came in but the dealer only offered me a rental at 300/wk. Wow, thanks gm for caring about our safety.
