I believe the passenger seat occupant sensing and airbag issues from recall 16v507 have not been fixed. I am still having issues related to it, even though I had it fixed.

The driver side airbag did not deploy when I got into a wreck. I feel the airbags could have helped me from hitting the steering wheel and hurting my ribs. I feel that it could have been less painful to have the airbag deploy. I thought the airbags were in working order.

Side blind zone alert (szba) system continues to be an issue with this vehicle. Sensing module(s) on inner left or right side of bumper cover fail due to water intrusion. When sensing module fails, "service side detection system" message will appear on driver information center on instrument cluster. General motors has previously issued a special coverage "n172097060", which is available on NHTSA website. As indicated in the special coverage document, if the issue is ignored, "the condition could result in the corruption of LS gmlan that may result in the loss of some driver interface functions such as cluster, infotainment, displays, chime, and passenger presence detection (passenger airbag could be suppressed). Within approximately 30 days of the "service side detection system" message, while driving, instrument cluster speedometer and tachometer went dead, and airbag warning system notification, anti-theft system, tire pressure monitoring system all illuminated. In addition to no speedometer reading, vehicle ignition/security interlock was causing vehicle to run rough. Vehicle would not immediately restart after shutting vehicle off. This is the 4th time a sbza sensing module has failed on this vehicle. First failure was replaced under factory warranty, second failure was replaced under special coverage n172097060, third failure was replaced out-of-pocket. Contacted general motors/Chevrolet, and they are not interested in providing continued coverage of the issue, which is a known issue, and likely a design defect, as the design was changed for later model years.

I was in a car accident and the airbags did not deploy.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.
Dash warning light indicates check airbags. (about a year ago). Upon using a code reader it states that the wrong airbags are installed and needs to be replaced. The airbags had been replaced in 2007 by GMC after a serious accident as a program\loaner. I purchased the repaired vehicle from southern Chevrolet in December of 2007 from their used car lot. I do not know why it has gone unnoticed for all these years.
Passenger side front seat. When occupied, airbag sensor located inside the seat is malfunctioning. My husbands safety is at risk when he's in the car. He tries moving the seat up, back, etc. Sometimes works and the airbag sensor works. We are fearing that if there were any accident or need, that his life would be in danger if the airbag didn't deploy. This shouldn't be at the consumers expense as this is a safety issue. This has been ongoing for over 6 months.
The contact owned a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph while in cruise control, a group of birds flew out from under a ditch which caused the contact to swerve and lose control of the vehicle. As a result of the incident, the contact crashed into the ditch. The air bags did not deploy upon impact which caused the contact's face to hit the steering wheel. The contact was later transported to the hospital via an ambulance where she was treated for a concussion. Additionally, the contact suffered several cuts and bruises to her face with additional bruising to her left leg and hip. A police report was filed; however, the report was unavailable. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was deemed totaled. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. The VIN was not available.

When traveling down a steep incline the front driver and passenger side airbags went off. There was no collision with anything, also there's no damage to the car aside from the airbags themselves.

The contact's friend owned a 2020 Chevrolet Impala e. The contact stated that while her friend was driving at 25 mph and approaching a curve, he inadvertently lost control of the vehicle. as a result, the vehicle left the roadway, rolled, and came to a complete stop with all four wheels facing upwards after colliding with a tree. Though the vehicle rolled on it's back no air bags were deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard but had yet to be deemed a total loss by the driver's insurance provider. A police report was filed and injuries were reported. The driver refused medical attention from ems at the time of the accident but stated that he would seek medical evaluation at a later date as he had hit his head on the driver's side door window as a result of the accident, resulting in visible injuries. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

None.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the front passenger's side seat belt audible chime was sounded, and the message "air bag on" was displayed while the front passenger's side seat was unoccupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the calibration-learning error was corrected by preconditioning the empty seat and resetting the seat zero-value in the electronic control unit. The vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v465000 (air bags); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided because the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the check air bag and service air bag warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16v507000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

On 11/20/2024, the Chevrolet dealership diagnosed the problem as a short in the passenger presence sensor airbag module under the passenger seat. For more than a year, the airbag warning light has almost always been on. On just a few occasions in the past year or two, the airbag light has turned off, usually corresponding with a change in the humidity. I understand that there was a recall for this very same (moisture-related) airbag problem in other gm vehicles some years ago. I think we have the exact same problem here, and that my car should be included in the recall. Note well, this year there was an airbag recall covering a 2007 Nissan versa, a much older car. It seems that airbag recalls can apply to cars 18 years old.
My service air bag light comes on and passenger airbag remains off while sitting in seat.
I was driving out of supermarket I was alone and the airbags deployed. I was hit hard and had a panic attack. I was able to drive home 14 miles. Windshield busted and dash board totaled everyone I try to download a picture I'm sent to the begining. I'm going to have pictures on file incase needed. .
Unknown srs light comes on and stays on I'm afraid the system will not work properly in an accident.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph and making a right turn, the vehicle crashed into the passenger's side door of an oncoming truck that was hidden behind a box truck and had suddenly intruded into his lane. The front end of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained neck pain, back pain and bruises on the forearms. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The contact was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

My vehicle is exhibiting the exact conditions outlined in the NHTSA bulletin 15400a: the front-passenger airbag status light will indicate that the airbag is "on" when the passenger seat is not occupied or is occupied by an infant. Additionally, the front-passenger seat's safety-belt warning light and chime may turn on when the passenger seat is not occupied and the seatbelt is not buckled. If the vehicle is involved in a crash that causes the front-passenger airbag to deploy and an infant is in the front-passenger seat, the airbag deployment may injure the child.
The side detection system modules are preventing the vehicle blind spot system to work correctly. And the vehicle takes 5, 10, 15 + attempts to start up.

Air bag.
The engine electric brakes all shut down steering wheel locked up and my daughter smashed into telephone pole on August 31 2023. Airbags didn't deploy for front and side airbags were deflated no air. No warning lights prior that I'm aware of. My daughter was injured pcs and cervical sprain.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the air bag light illuminated on and off. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic but he could not pinpoint the exact failure but suggested that the failure was in the passenger seat area. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 131,002.
Recall # 36110. Our car is having the same issues that are indicated with this recall but gm refuses to include our vehicle in this recall. Front passenger seat sensor is shorting out against the seat frame which is turning vital passenger airbags off. Unsure when this actually started as my daughter drives this car to work and didnt notice when it first appeared.
Service airbag light repeatedly activates and goes off with passenger in vehicle. There was a previous recall chevy #15400. Nhtsa campaign #15v465000. Upon contacting the dealership about the issue. Claim was made that they didn't have a recall matching that number. My vehicle is within the production dates and has the heated and vented seats.
I was in a car accident on June 20, 2023. I was stopped in traffic and was hit in the rear and pushed into the vehicle in front of me. The air bags detonated but did not deploy. The steering wheel and both front seat side air bags had some coming but the airbag did not deploy.
Passenger presence module is deactivating passenger airbags intermittently.
"air bag malfunction light is on. There is a NHTSA campaign number: 16v507000 (air bags, electrical system) which I am associating with the failure and it tends to happen at the 80,000 mile mark which this car is almost at. Why isn't this VIN included in the recall? it's a 2009 chevy Impala. Shouldn't this recall capture all of the 2009 chevy Impalas?.
Air bags did not deploy in an automotive collision.
