The passenger seat does not detected the airbag. The air bag sign on top indicates off even when there's someone seated on the passenger side. If I get into an accident the air bag will not deploy.
When you seat in the passenger seat, the service air bag will come on. My Impala isn't the only vehicle that is doing. I know several people that are having the same problem. Its the same year and the same vehicle. And what I was told that if I get into an accident my air bag will not deploy. This is a safety issue for the passenger. And could lead to a lawsuit to cheverolt. My car only has 63,000 miles on it. It shouldn't have issues with the airbags.

My check engine light came on while driving. I told my car to the mechanic and I was told my mass engine airflow needed to be replaced. Two days later the check engine light was on again. Return to the mechanic and was told my O2 sensors needed to be replaced. Replaced as recommended. I was driving down the highway and the light came on again along with a message that said reduce speed. At this point, my car slowed down by itself while I was going 60 miles per hour. I could not accelerate. Luckily there were no cars behind me. Reviewing the Chevrolet forums and Impala forums, this appears to be a known issue and gm is not doing anything about it. Reading some of the stories, I consider myself lucky. Airbag the passenger airbag light has come on and will not go off. I took it to the dealership, and they told me that if I am in an accident, the airbag will not deploy because the car isn't recognizing someone is in the seat. They said to me that gm issued a recall for this problem; however, my car was not included. I spoke with a gm representative who confirmed the recall. The gm representative said although the code is shown on the diagnostic performed at the certified dealer my VIN was not covered; however, they offered to cover half of my cost. He told me that if gm expanded the recall to include my VIN then I could send in my receipt for a refund.

The service air bag light keeps coming on while we are driving our car. And I'm worried that the air bags will not deploy in a accident, or they may deploy while driving down the road. I don't want to disable the air bags but not knowing why the light for the air bags is coming on. I have looked online to see what I can do about this and I have found out that this is happening a lot on the 2006-2014 Impalas. And people have taken there car in to the dealership to get fixed and the dealership can't figure out why this is happening. And they can't seem to fix it. Plus our service our traction control keeps coming on and the dealership can't figure out why this is happening. This seems to be the problem with this car and the dealership can't figure out why this is happening so they can't fix it. So I'm worried that this car isn't safe to drive because the air bags might not deploy in a accident or if they will just deploy driving down the road.

The airbags failed to deploy. The other car's airbags deployed. I wonder if the airbags in the Chevrolet were even installed. It makes no sense to me why they did not deploy.
