The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the front driver side air bag warning light illuminated twice in the past two years. The air bag inflator module was replaced in 2008. The contact stated that both times the air bag module failed was when the weather was below 20 degrees. The contact believed the failure was similar to that described in NHTSA campaign id number: 03v051000 (air bags: frontal: driver side inflator module) but the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 21,461 and the current mileage was 27,600.

Regarding 2000 Chevrolet Impala LS VIN 2g1wh55kxy9344567. My local dealer wants to replace the side impact airbag for a considerable fee. I believe per recall #00v371000 that this should fall under this recall as it is exhibiting the same symptoms as the recalled airbags, however gm has not marked this car for recall, and refuses to pay for the airbag replacement. The dealership describes the problem as, "code b0041 lh frt side deployment loop open. Needs lh side air bag module replaced. ".
Consumer stated that some wires shorted out in the air bag module causing air bag to become inoperative. Ts.

Cleaned terminals in cn. Recommended; if code returns will need inflator module). 06. 30. 06 air bag light stays on all the time.
