1 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2020

My fuel pump does not work properly it reads empty. Also I was driving and my power steering stopped working as I was turning. I was very scared of crashing my car. I had to stop my car and turn it off then turn it back on and my power steering was working again. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 days.

2 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2018

My 2006 chevy Malibu has had electric power steering malfunction. I was driving on a very dangerous city highway. With my three children in car. I looked up and saw there are recalls on the year and make of my car but the dealership says they don't see a recall under my specific vehichle. I don't think it makes since and I don't know anyone to fix it. Because most cars have a normal power steering pump.

3 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2017

Since I have bought this used chevy Malibu, if I press the gas pedal to accelerate it sometimes lock myself steering wheel in position, and jerks my car a good bit. Then my car gives me a error message on my radio stating power steering pump fluid. I have done research and took to a mechanic and nobody could find it and suggested it may have a fuse not an actual reservoir for fluid. It occurs at while turning, driving on highways and all other roads, going up and down hills or moutains. As well as my middle seat belt buckle no longer latching into the buckle will hold for a moment and then after applying brakes the safety belt will dislodged from the buckle. Another issue is the gas hand goes from full to empty will sitting still with the car running. I can fill the tank and it will say it's empty and will even have my estimate miles left also say low fuel.

4 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

I was making a right hand turn onto a busy intersection and steering went out I ended up in the lane of on coming traffic turning in a left turning lane in opposite direction. Thank the lord no one was in that lane. And the 2nd time 2 weeks later it happened again when I was turning into a exxon station and almost hit the gas pump. Just glad my breaks worked good and had both hands on the wheel since the first incident occured. When will we get a notification about the recall. . I have not recieved anything yet. If need be I will take more steps because this needs to be fixed and I am not paying for it. I called the place where I bought the car and they gave me a number to call and I did and I was told to wait until I got recall card in the mail and have not seen anything yet. . . . . . That was a month ago.

5 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2014

I called in this complaint on 03/13/20014 to robin with complaint # 10568974 but it will not show up on search. The air bag light comes on and off at will. I called a complaint to chevy. Customer service #71-1282176959. On 07-12-12 the steering pump assembly was changed by special coverage adjustment 10183replace steering column installed 25933396 column. We are sure it was not a 2006 column but a newer year that has a recall on it. The chevy. Forum has a lot of recalls on air bags. The local dealer o"rielly will not do a scanner check for codes unless the light is on. We had it done a our automotive dealer and it showed code b0012 drivers deployment loop. We consider this a safety issue and should be covered by warranty or a recall on the new steering column. We would like this issue repaired at no cost to us.

6 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2012

I was taking my granddaughter to school and the power steering went out as I was pulling in to the school. I turn off the car to locate the power steering pump but could not locate it. When I started the car it was fine so when I got home I found out that this is a big problem and gm is not doing anything about it. What is it going to take for somebody does something about it. I believe gm was one of the companies that was help by the government with tax payers money the same ones that are having this problem, please you need to do something about this big problem that gm is ignoring before is to late for some body or family. Thank you.

7 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2011

Turned steering wheel left to exit a fueling pump and the power steering went out. The panel display indicated "power steering" and an indicator on the dash had a amber color icon with a wrench. Had to use a lot of force to turn vehicle to a safe place and turned the car off. Got out and looked under the hood but could not discern any obvious problem. Turned the car back on and the problem did not reappear as driving home approx. 2 miles from service station. Concerned because of the comments seen on the internet regarding owners having similar experiences with these vehicles. Fortunately, my speed was minimal. It would be virtually impossible to control the vehicle if this happened at high speed on a highway. Gm needs to recall.

8 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2010

I drive a 2006 Malibu, and have been for the past 4 years. The standard 2006 Malibu has epsa (electronic power steering assist). There is no reservoir to fill fluid as with older models. I found out today through experience that the electric power steering locks/unlocks on its own which has created an extremely dangerous situation. As I was driving to work this morning and as I was pulling into another driveway (making a right hand turn), the steering wheel locked so that I couldn't turn, and I was inches away from hitting a pole. I am fearful of this vehicle especially since a child rides in this vehicle regularly. I am thankful that my child wasn't in the vehicle during this time. I came in to work to do some research since the mechanic confirmed there is no reservoir for the power steering fluid. No pump, no hose, nothing to top off. What I found through my research is scary and irresponsible of gm. This is a severe safety hazard and needs to be addressed by gm immediately. I am disappointed to find that gm has not recalled this vehicle nor identified and addressed this problem (or others). I have not received any mailings or notifications regarding this problem. It's outrageous that gm can legally put out a vehicle for mass production with such hazardous flaws such as the electric power steering problem (among others). After reading all the complaints and blogs about the eps system, I am convinced that the mailbu is suffering from the same symptoms as the cobalt and other vehicles identified in a 2005 (model) recall. This issue is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
