1 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2020

I have owned my 2006 chevy Malibu since later 2018. It is now Nov 1st 2020. A few months after I got the vehicle I had issues. I have had all recalls replaced by fredericksburg virginia chevy dealership (they say that they did?) the entire time I have owned this vehicle the steering vibrates at high speeds. Also the entire time I've owned this car, when I speed up any hills my steering locks up my battery light comes on and the car pulls to the left or right depending. This is extremely unsafe! dealer didn't know what could cause it. I learned to immediately take my foot off the gas and the steering goes back to normal. This is not easy on a curvy hill road. This can cause a serious wreck. I have a 10 month old baby. This is frightening if it one day it doesn't fix by taking my foot off the pedal. Now my steering is stiff and is so hard to turn when driving at slow speed. The steering motor recall has already been replaced says the dealer. So why is it going bad again? it has only been 30,000 miles later. Why am I having a stiff steering wheel again if they replaced it? the tc light came on within hours of the steering going stiff. Why does chevy distribute vehicles with such safety issues? I should not have to pay for the steering to be fixed/replaced again! dangerous chevy vehicle.

Takata recall/ I have a 2006 chevy Malibu and in the past month every time I change the turn signals and brake light bulbs they are always blowing for no reason. And my car is starting to get a loud sound when I drive it and steering is getting hard sometime. I've looked for power steering to check fluid but everyone says mine is electric so I took it to auto zone and they said it was electric and I needed to fix the torque sensor assembly in my steering. I pretty sure there is a recall on that part. And also I think there a recall on a part on my transmutation. I'm trying to find out about recalls on my car. Can someone help me cause I've got my kids and grandkids that ride in it every day. Please help me.

6 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

After driving out of my garage, my steering wheel jerked and locked up causing me to hit the brakes. Power steering showed up on the monitor. Turned the car off thinking maybe I should have warmed it up a bit. Started car back up to proceed, steering jerked and locked again. Was too afraid to continue so called for a tow truck. Car is currently at the dealership, they are saying problem is the power steering pump motor and the electronic power assist system. They can replace the pump motor now for $650 and the eps assist when available. Wonder if I am being ripped off here!!! soon after I purchased the car, the power steering light would come on, I took it back to the dealer, was told they could find nothing wrong. The power steering light has come on several times over the years and steering would feel a bit tight or stiff at times, but never jerked or locked up on me. I thought is was due to the colder temps here in michigan.

9 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2014

Steering wheel jerked to left and I had no power steering but I was still able to turn the steering wheel but was real hard. The indicator on the radio message screen indicated the power steering was not working. I pulled over and turned off the vehicle and restarted my car and the power steering started to work again only to have this happen again just a few miles down the road. I have been reading all the complaints about the steering problem that the 2006 Malibu are experiencing. Chevrolet corp. Should have a recall on all the models that have the electronic steering and fix them ASAP. This is a safety hazard and someone is going to have a wreak and major damage is going to occur to somebody or their family. There is a recall in canada but not in the USA for this safety problem.

10 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2008

I purchased a 2006 used chevy-malibu on Feb. 22-2008. With 3600 mileage. After driving for 2 weeks the steering wheel would lock-up along with a bell going off and a light flashing steering wheel problems (the light stayed on for a short period of time). I tried to steer with the car operating in manual steering which was very hard to do since I'm 72 years old. I let the car drift to a parking lot and proceeded to cut the motor off and start again to try to get power steering in an operative mode. This happened to me a number of times . Coming out of my driveway there is a fire hydrant and the wheel locked and I could not turn away from the hydrant in time and I hit it. I was turning a corner in to traffic and it locked again. I called the dealership and they said to take it to someone that required that I leave it overnight . But the shop was quite a distance from my home. I waited until July and called the salesman who works at a different place now and he said I could take to any Chevrolet dealer to have it repaired. I have an extended warranty with zurich . The repair shop states that they don't cover all the cost to get it repaired less $200. 00 out of pocket. I want to know if there has been some other complaints or if there is a recall on this type vehicle.
