I have a 2007 chevy Malibu ltz. The steering column has locked up several times. The worse time happened about a week ago. I was having the brakes checked and the repair man drove the car and when he mashed the accelerator the cars steering locked up and he had to fight it to keep from hitting a block and concrete wall. He said the car was very unsafe to drive. I took it to the car dealer where I bought the car and they said it was the ignition switch.
