While driving stright ahead on a city street, at approximately 30-35mph, the axle shaft on the front, right side of the car broke. The broken axle shaft caused an accident where my car went to the right and I hit the back-left side of a van; that impact sent the right side of the car up in the air where I was only traveling on the two left wheels. Although I thought my car was going to flip and land on it's roof, the car did come back down on the right wheels, but landed/hit the front of the van and the back of a pick-up truck.

Car still made noise after hub/bearings replaced. 2nd time hub/bearing replaced noise was louder. Got 2nd opinion, was back plate rubbing against rotor. Did I even need my hub/bearing replaced. 3/23/01 said I need rotors resurfaced, 2nd opinion - rotors fine. Chevy is ripping me off. Charged me for new serpentine belt & never replaced it. Moisture in headlights.

Both left and right front wheel bearings are bad. I was informed that this is a common problem with chevy Malibu's when they reach 50,000 - 60,000 miles. If this is a common problem, shouldn't this repair be covered? I have not called the manufacturer/dealer yet, but I plan on doing so. I also had the front control arms replaced in 1998. ( dot number: ? tire size: p215 93t ).
Front wheel bearings are prematurely wearing, cause unknown.
While exiting an intersection consumer heard a noise coming from the front. Consumer was able to pull over, and noticed that front right axle came off. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the axle needed to be replaced.
