1 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Unit problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 03/11/2021

Going to work on a city street car completely shut off. It blacked out. No hazards no lights and this was at 3:30 in the morning. And it's happening more and more. It happened to my husband on a busy street. All we can do is wait and try to start it until luckily it did. But before this started, the car kept on shutting off on me when I come to a stop. It's happened at least 6 times in the last 3 weeks. And today it stated on the dashboard that it was reducing its speed. What's next?! it's dangerous because I have my kids with me and I'm afraid someone might rear end me one day. Or if it completely blacks out on me on my way to work and I have no one to help me and I get stranded. I wish they would do a recall. I've seen online how it's been happening to a lot of people.

2 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Unit problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 03/10/2021

On 03/10/21, I was driving north on a busy highway. I approached the stop light and reduced speed. I came to a full stop and the car shut off completely. The check engine light came on briefly, then lost all electrical power. I had no hazard lights, no radio, no dashboard, nothing. After being stranded for 5 min like that at a very dangerous left lane stop, the car finally restarted. Called onstar immediately to scan the car for codes - they found none. The issue of the car intermittently shutting down like that has happened multiple times since October of 2020. Taken the car to Chevrolet dealership multiple times and was told they cannot find anything wrong. I currently have it at the dealership and am being told they can find nothing wrong despite four different people in my car witnessing it happen to me more than once and my providing a log of every time it's happened.

3 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Unit problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 10/17/2018

While driving the vehicle the car powers down. The radio turns off, lights on dash goes out and power steering locks up. If driven over a speed bump or pothole all electrical componets power down. I was driving and put my signal on, the vehicle shutdown and steering wheel locked until it rebooted itsself. There is no difference on street, highway nor speed. When it looses power there is no way to alert the nearby drivers with hazard lights as everything has been shut off. On going matter, has been to dealer multiple times and different locations.

15 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Unit problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

I have had intermittent electrical problems almost since buying the car in 2004. In 2010 I experienced a scary new twist: my blinkers won't always work. It happened maybe three times total over the next 12-18 months, but it is happening again, and I am now doing much more around-town driving. I have read other complaints where some owners have been able to get the blinkers working again by toggling the hazard lights, but this is not the case with my car. I turn the vehicle on and the blinkers will work the first time I use them, then not again for the rest of my trip (or in some cases, the rest of the day).

16 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Unit problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 08/15/2010

My turn signals and hazard lights do not always work. Sometimes they don't work at all and other times they blink a few times and then stop. I drive on major interstates and I'm always afraid that this will cause an accident. I cannot predict if or when it will happen. When it does happen, if I tap or lightly press the flasher button on the dash it seems to help. I've seen other reports of the same problem. This is a major safety flaw.

21 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Unit problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

I am the owner of a 2002 chevy Malibu which I have owned since 2003. For the last two years (starting around approximately 90,000 miles) I've have been having problems with the turn signal and hazard light indicators. The malfunction leads to total failure or flickering of the turn signal lights, the hazard lights and the indicators on the instrument panel. The malfunction will occur at any time - sunny, rainy, dry, humid, snowy, hot or cold weather; daytime or nighttime; whether the engine is hot or cold. Occasionally the indicators will work for a couple of days but then the malfunction will occur again. I have no idea what caused the malfunction to begin. The original malfunctioning parts are available as they are currently still installed in my vehicle. I have also been having problems with the heater switch in my car. A rattle type noise in the heater fan assembly was the first indication that I noticed at around 70,000 miles. That stopped when the car was repaired after I ran over a truck tire tread that was in the middle of the highway. The switch worked for a while then I lost the number one and two speeds. Eventually the number three speed went out. I currently can run the heater on speeds number four and five; however, the output is less that what it should be for the two highest fan speeds. The replacement part is currently still installed in my vehicle.

Failure Date: 07/11/2008

2002 Malibu turn signal work when they want. Have to hit dash by hazard lights to make them work. Haven;t had a accident yet ,but am scared to drive my car. Bought the car new from the dealership. Have never received any recall notices. Horn also has a mind of it's own. Only have 45,000 miles on my car. I used to love it but now I am afraid of having a wreck and either dying or killing someone else. Chevy needs to recall all the problem cars and not just a few.

25 Hazard Flashing Warning Light Unit problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 12/14/2007

My husband travels 200 miles a day, mostly interstate travel. At least . Once a day his turn signals fail to work. Most of the time if he messes around with the hazard light button for a few seconds the turn signals will function again, but not always. This is definitely a safety issue. One mechanic said it is more than likely a short in the wiring but will e expensive to find let alone fix. I feel there is also a possibility of a fire.
