2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated the hazard warning signals and turn signals stopped working. First it was intermittent, and then they just stopped. The contact found a recall online. But, this vehicle was not part of this recall due to VIN. This problem started two months ago. The dealership replaced the hazard switch, the wires, and the connector. This fixed the problem.

I bought my Chevrolet 2002 Malibu brand new and have owned it for three years, just two months ago it started having intermittent turn signal problems. I have tried little things like manually using turn signals and turning them off prior to turn completion, restarting the car, and using my hazzard lights to trigger the turn signals to work. Sometimes these things will work momentarily, other times they have no effect. Also I am noticing my hazard lights do not always work, and sometimes they will interrupt my turn signal from working and other times my turn signal will cause the hazard lights to turn off! this has almost caused several accidents for me, is a very dangerous situation. The dealership will not help me, my car is just past the warranty period and they want to test it for a rather large fee. Although my research on this problem has told me that gm has not fixed the problem in 2002, but possibly in 2001, and 2000 models. I am very disappointed, and will not own a chevy again.

This vehicle was purchased by an individual for my son as a first car. Low miles and low price. When we recieved the title we found out that it was a salvage vehicle. My son being the teenager he was just excited to have four wheels never mentioned to us that the turn signals worked intermittingly. When we purchased another vehicle for my son for graduation, I started to drive the 2000 chevy Malibu and noticed the turn signals doing this. Then I noticed the hazards were doing the same intermittingly working. I made an appointment at the chevy house to get the problem fix and at the time from a friend found out about a factory recall for cars of this make and model with the same problem. When I went in they searched using the VIN # and said they could not help. Approximately 1 hour later I called the cheverolet company. At first they gave me a number and a code for a special policy complaint. Then after 25 minutes of my time he informed me that nothing could be done to fix the vehicle because it was a salvage vehicle. This is a factory defect. It had nothing to do with the vehicle being a salvage vehicle. If that is the case then why do state departments even allow these vehicles on the road . I just need the turn signals and hazards fixed so no innocent people will be hurt at any point. I can take this vehicle in for a diagnostic test also so it can be tested for this. I need this fix but it shouldn't be at my expense.
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the hazard lights failed intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint and stated that the vehicle was not included in recall 03v327000 (exterior lighting: hazard flashing warning lights: switch). The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000 and the current mileage was 175,900.
I called gm about recall #03043 and was told there was no recall on my 2000 Malibu that is have the same problem that the 2001 Malibu is have that have been recalled.
It appears that gm's claim that it completed the turn signal and hazard warning switch is not entirely accurate. My signal warning relay, situated in the hazard warning system, hasn't stopped clacking for nearly two years. Perhaps it is the one that slipped through the crack. The problem is ongoing (not resolved).

In late 2003, early 2004, the hazard lights stopped working and you had to hold button down to keep them on. At the time, I had not received a recall notice. I had my mechanic work on it and fix the wiring. In Aug. 2014, it became a problem again, which I haven't fixed yet. Due to recent recalls, of which I received a notice for having my ignition and keys fixed for my car, I went onto the NHTSA website to check past recall notices and saw one issued in Feb. 2004 for cars of my make/model/year for the hazard warning switch. (campaign #03v327000) by VIN number, it shows my car wasn't one with the defective switch, however, I believe there to be a problem there and it should be looked into.
Hazard lights/turn signal lights work intermittently.
The turn signal lights in my 2001 Malibu are failing or working intermittently while driving. I barely avoided a collision changing landes on a city highway. Sometimes they come on to fail again after I operate the hazard lights for a while. Also after turning off the motor after failure of turn signal and starting again the turn signal / hazard light may or may not start working. Dealer pin points to hazard relais. This should be a general recall since it is a well known and well documented manufacturer's problem.
I have a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and I was told there was a recall on the hazard lights and now gm is telling there is no recall. But my hazard light and turn signals wont work.
The hazard and turn signal lights were inoperative.
The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the hazard lights had become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who test drove and inspected the vehicle and advised that they were operating properly. The manufacturer was then contacted who stated that they replaced the flashing switch in 2002 under NHTSA campaign id number: 03v327000, (exterior lighting: hazard flashing warning lights: switch) and advised that they would not be able to further assist. The failure mileage was 106,000.
This is regarding my hazard lights and turn signals.
Gm has a recall on Chevrolet Malibu's year 2000 (hazard light switch replacement) I have a Chevrolet Malibu year 2000 with a faulty hazard light switch, but ms. Gay miller of Chevrolet customer service said, "your VIN wasn't included in the recall. " help me to understand why you would repair some faulty hazard light switches on Chevrolet Malibu's year 2000 but not all Chevrolet Malibu's year 2000 with faulty hazard light switches.
