While driving on multiple accusations my engine light would come on and go off within minutes and not return till I turn the car back on or while driving later on in the day or days after seeing the light come so I was unable to bring it in to get checked out properly. A month passed when the issue appeared and when I decided to go into the dealership to possibly trade in my car the light was not appearing for days beforehand and things were normal till a a couple days after I left the dealership my car read on the dash reduced engine power I wasn't able to accelerate quick enough in the middle of traffic on military trail and belvedere I had to pull through a walmart parking lot to avoid on coming traffic and bring the car to my home close by very slow and sluggish due to not getting any acceleration from me pressing on the pedal. The dealership wants to replace my fuel pump system at a cost however it has a current recall for my specific make and model.

Vehicle is stalling out while driving, then when shuts off it will not start back up. Fuel pump was replaced, worked great for 1 whole day then did the same thing, left me stranded. Fuse box was then replaced. Ran great again until recently it stalled out in the middle of a very busy street causing me to almost be hit. Pins in the fuse box were replaced, but I'm still having issues, it seems to be related to the fusebox wiring itself, because I'm also having problems with things ran off of that fuse box! this getting ridiculous I've only had this car 4 months and it's been the worst car yet I've never had a vehicle leave me stranded. It needs to be recalled.

Is been a few times when I'm in a light and when I'm about to take off the car like holds up and it doesn't wants to move forward unless I hit the gas harder or just park it and shut it off and is been smoking trough the a. C. In less then 6 months I had to repair sertain stuff 3 times. First I took it to replace the fan assembly hybrid battery and a new hybrid battery the oil filter and the oil gasket cause it was leaking oil and update the software. I took it out in 3 weeks it was back in the shop cause I had to replace the timing chains and high pressure fuel pump and preform a system scan wich found that there is a mechanical issue with the engine and also the high fuel pressure was making slot of noise. And put a new high pressure fuel pump a high pressure fuel pipe. I spencer a few dollars on that. I took it out it was ok till it started growing smoke trough the a. C again it keeped holding back on me in the lights and it shuted off on me twice in were I had to hit parking and shut off and back on so it can work. And finally woke I'm driving on south 95 in 60mph the car started smoking trough the a. C then it made this loud noise in the motor so when I pulled over on the highway I see that all my motor oil had spilled in the floor and the motor started to smoke like crazy and the car indicated me to shut off motor. I had to tow my car home and park it to get it fix again. But is crazy cause in less then 6 months all this happened and is still parked to b fixed.

I bought my first car from a small dealership and within the last 35 days the alternator, battery, shocks, fuel pump and now the engine light is on. . . . When you are driving it seems like the car don't want to go into gear. And when it finally goes into gear it jerks you. Also the electrical and temperature gage, the lights on dash board go in and out you can hear a faint noise coming from the dome light. Temperature gage stayed at cold when driving the vehicle around. Took car for a ride the next day and right away when driving it went about a quarter above cold???.

On 7/5/20 the vehicle was in motion going down the highway and the high pressure fuel pump mounted on the engine broke lose, dropped into the engine and tore apart the engine. Was towed and fixed by closest gm dealership (deery brothers, west burlington, IA). There is a recall for a bad weld on the high pressure fuel pump for 2016-2018 Malibu's resulting in the exact issue I had on my 2014. The dealership said gm, Chevrolet and the dealership (which is a gm certified dealership where I bought the car certified pre-owned in 2018) said they all bared no responsibility for the issue. I paid $3,128 for the repair on 7/17/20. Two days after bringing my car home, there is an oil leak that was never there before. The dealership says this is a hole in the oil pan, and again is my responsibility to pay for in full to be fixed. I received a letter from Chevrolet on 7/16/20 saying there is a recall for my VIN # for an oil pressure valve. Incorrect oil pressure could have caused the high pressure fuel pump to explode causing the issue on 7/9/20. I do not believe that between the two recalls issued by Chevrolet for my car model I should be responsible for the full weight of the repairs on a car that was purchased certified pre-owned with a warranty two years prior, not to mention I've had all regular services done in a timely matter at the same dealership, that has under 90,000 miles and is only six years old. There is no reason for such extensive engine damage to such a new car with no previous issues.

I have kept up regular maintenance on it. The vehicle now has an issues with stalling while stopped at a light or stop sign after driving it of and on throughout the day. The chevy dealership can't figure it out and I've spent several hundred dollars taking it to other repair shops. It can be a safe issue if I'm in the middle of an interstate at a stop trying to turn and I need to accelerate. I haven't seen any recalls for this model. I have having this problem starting back in 2020. . . We replaced the fuel pump thinking that was the problem but nothing. . . It even does it when I'm trying to park.
The vehicle have no check engine codes but won't start and cuts off I traffic and in highway. The fuse box in trunk gets got and the fuel pump relay gets hot. After the car stalls the only way to start is shake wiretap fuse box in trunk and tap on rear fuse box.
I purchased this car used and 2 weeks after I had to have it towed to a mechanic from work because it wouldn't start. Mechanic said it was fuel pump so he replaced it $685 and the tow was $125. Drove it home and the next day went out to start it before work and wouldn't start but had crank. Called mechanic he had it towed back to his shop, cleaned the fuse box in the trunk and said the brown wire was loose. Started up the next day but the following day it stalled on me while me and my son was on our way to get something to eat and I hit the box in the trunk and it started. I cannot believe this is not a recall yet from how many people have went through this electrical wiring issue. This was all on city streets. How many times am I going to have to beat on this box to get it started and how long will that last? this is ridiculous!.
My fuel pump does not work properly it reads empty. Also I was driving and my power steering stopped working as I was turning. I was very scared of crashing my car. I had to stop my car and turn it off then turn it back on and my power steering was working again. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 days.

Starting problem towed and worked on on several occasions. Mechanic replaced fuel pump, ecm relay, etc. All fixed the problem temporarily. Mecanic refuses to work on the car now, can't find the problem. We knock on the fuse box in the trunk and get it to run but now dies randomly. The last time I drove it, it died in a blind intersection and I was almost t-boned.
The car seems to run fine once it starts. The problem is getting it to start. Sometimes the car starts without any problems and then sometimes it won't. It has left me stranded multiple times. We replaced the fuel pump, which seemed to fix the problem for a few days and then the same thing started to happen. We replaced a couple of fuses. Again this seemed to fix the problem for a few days and then the same thing started to happen. My husband and I noticed that there is some wiring that is always hot leading from the fuse box to the fuel pump. Basically we believe that Chevrolet used cheap crappy thin wiring. Because of this, the car won't start. We did some research online and it seems that everyone who owns a 2012 chevy Malibu has had a similar problem that has cost consumers hundreds of dollars. We have always owned a chevy and this is the first vehicle that we have ever had a problem with. We are seriously considering switching to Toyota or Nissan since Chevrolet has been receiving complaints and thus far has chosen not to do anything. Chevrolet manufactured the 2012 chevy Malibu and was aware of the issues surrounding the fuse box, fuel pump, and the wiring. One of these days, the car is going to catch fire because of the faulty system. It is extremely frustrating to see all of these chevy Malibu owners experiencing the same issue and Chevrolet does nothing. We never know if the car is going to start; it's literally a guessing game. Sometimes we tap the fuse box, sometimes we kick the side of the rear passenger door, and sometimes we have to sit and wait 15 minutes and then the car will start. Chevrolet needs to have a recall and fix the issues surrounding the 2012 chevy Malibu. Eventually the wiring is going to catch fire.
Faulty fuel pump communication system and key kob reader.

I just bought this car, used from a fleet sale. The fuel pump went out at just over 50k miles. All fleet maintenance had been completed. I was driving the car all day, it was running fine, and ran into a store. When I came back out and went to start the Malibu, it fired up, all of the lights came on, but it wouldn't turn over. It sounded like it wasn't getting gas. You could hear ignition firing and starter engaging.
I have a 2012 chevy Malibu lt and at random times the car will shut down, while driving, while being stationary, and sometimes it don't even start when it's been off I took it to multiple mechanics and they couldn't detect any codes or seem to find the problem they changed the fuel pump, the fuel pump relay, the fuse, the ecm starter ignition coil, battery, alternator and the car still doesn't start randomly I have to turn the car to the on position then off more than 30 times and wait until I hear the fuel pump activate then I know it will start I have had the car cut off on me on the freeway, in the middle of malik a turn on busy streets I've been out at family events and when I tried to go home the car wouldn't start I need help.
Car would randomly not start up. Starter would engage with key turned, but engine would not fire off and run. No codes from diagnostics. Never heard fuel pump energize with problem present. Car would eventually successfully start. Bench tested fuel pump relay with no issues. Disassembled fuse box in trunk and found the brown wire connecting the fuel pump to its relay was significantly heat stressed. The black plastic wire harness that houses the brown fuel pump wire was also stressed and deformed, and was no longer retaining the crimped connector for the brown wire. I had to clean up the metal crimp connector and pinch down on the end so that it would "grab" the relay terminal once reassembled. Car has yet to repeat the starting problem a year later.
Got the car few months ago , car one day wouldn't start couldn't figure out finally figured it out, the fuse box in my truck I can hit it and then my car started just fine it happens alot to where I gotta hit the fuse box in my truck to get my car started thought it was the crank sensor but nope it has something to do with the fuse box in the truck & also heard it's the fuel pump relay.
My car dies when driving down the road. Electrical problem to the fuel pump.
Car would turn over but not crank. Go back a little later and it crank fine. After this happening several times had someone take a look at it and there was no codes and the car would crank fine so couldn't find the problem. Then when I was out somewhere it would crank and run sluggish and go dead and after a while it would crank and run. Got to researching it and people having same problem. Said that you could wiggle fuel pump relay and it would crank. Sure enough tried this and it worked. I'm pretty sure this is same problem. And also if you had been running the car and it wouldnt crank the fuel pump relay will be hot which suggest the wiring and or fuse box is problem. People talk about replacing fuel pump , fuse box , and cheap low gauge wiring from fuel pump to fuse box. Now I'm taking to mechanic to try to get this fixed before it catches fire and someone gets hurt . Try to get fixed and buy a Honda or anything except gm.
My chevy Malibu would turn over slightly, but then would die. This happened about 3-4 times and then I had the battery replaced; thinking it was that. The car continued to fail, so I had the fuel pump replaced after checking with a fuel gauge and there being no fuel pressure. The car ran about 3 times driving it for shorter and a bit longer distances, but then the car would not turn over at all. The starter would try, but there was no ignition of the car. At my local chevy dealer, don mccue, they diagnosed that the rear fuse box and a few terminals were burnt out. They replaced the rear fuse box and a few terminals, and the car now runs successfully.
There is a problem with the fuse box located in the trunk. My car has completely lost engine power while driving on multiple occasions. Fuel pump, alternator, and battery have needed replaced. There is a short in or near this rear fuse box. Fuel pump relay has been replaced, and connections greased. Temporarily fixed, then a few days later shuts off while running. From researching, this appears to be extremely common with this model across multiple years, with the wire leading to the fuel pump relay burning up and shorting. Clearly poor wiring. At least three times my car has completely shut down while in motion with no warning at all. Multiple crank/no start situations as well. My next option is to replace the entire fuse block, but that will not fix wiring design. Have been towed multiple times in a short period of time.

My car would turn but not start so I changed the fuel pump. It was started for like 5 days then it started again would turn over but not start so we change the fuel box in the trunk. Worked for like a week and it started acting again. Took it to the Chevrolet dealership and the didn't find the problem. So we took it to a technician and they told us it was a wiring problem. Paid to get it fix but it still wasn't it. Still having the problem.
Transmission failure, car will turn off on interstate or highway without warning, car will shut down while driving , roll backwards, won't accelerate. Had to get towed 3 times! after new transmission , sensors and fuel pump injector , the car is still doing the same thing ! this is a safety hazard and a lack of responsibility for defected products and price gauging mechanics ! problem is still existing. I see this car is under many recalls and the transmission was built in korea!.
My car shuts off while I'm driving it, when I try to turn it on it won't turn on. I could smell gas but it won't turn on. It's a hazard when I'm on the highway and it just cut off on me and I'm stuck in the middle lane with incoming traffic. I took it to a mechanic and could not find any issues with any other parts of the vehicle my fuel pump is in great condition my tune ups are up to date I don't know if it is the anti-theft affiliated with my key ignition please advise.

I've been dealing with my car cutting on and off. . . I change my fuel pump I change the sensors and I'm stilll having problems with my car cutting off when it wants or starting when it wants. I'm now about to change my fuse box in my trunk to see if that works. The only way the car will start is if I mess with the fuse box in the trunk. Also I'm having problems with my headlights. I changed them about 3 times already but they keep going out.
Strong gas smell from rear of vehicle (interior/exterior). Leak confirmed from fuel pump when in motion. Also, vehicle hesitates when accelerated, usually after vehicle sits for an extended period of time.

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving at 75 mph, the vehicle loss motive power. All the light on the instrument panel came on. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosis the vehicle was a failed fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact they never heard of this failure before. The failure mileage was 121,000. Hk.
Car will not start unless you mess with the fuse box in the trunk, anywhere the car shuts off, car shuts off while idling at a light or stop sign and you have to get out in traffic and mess with the fuse box and wires in the trunk till it starts, started off by repairing the fuel pump, then relays, then fuse box in the trunk, now I'm on the wiring. This problem has been ongoing for 6 months or more it's very pricey and continues to happen needs to be recalled too many people with the same issues.

My vehicle would not start. The starter would try and turn the engine over for 10 seconds then the starter would shut off. This happened on 3/7/18 and the vehicle was towed in for service. The fuel pump control module was replaced at the dealership and I took posseion of the car on 3/10/18. On 3/12/18 the vehicle had the same issue with no fuel pressure and resulted in the car turning off while driving and I was unable to start the vehicle again. It was then towed to another dealership which is now replacing the fuel pump due to a gm TSB communication 16-na-225.
We have had two issues. First broken fuel pump spilling gas on top of the fuel tank this has been an issue with this type of vehicle but not this specific vehicle. Cost to repair 400 dollars. Issue two. Bad torque sensor on electric power steering column. Causing power steering failure at will. Major safety issue as well. Chevy told me this specific part was not part of an earlier recall. Cost to fix 622 dollars at chevy dealer. Power steering failure happened while driving on city streets in madison sd. Gas leaking issue was noticed by a strong smell of gasoline. We stopped driving until repair could be made. They are both recalll issues on the 08 Malibu. Talked to chevy. With no offer to cover repairs being made.
Plastic fuel line from fuel pump on top of tank cracked leaking fuel all over top of fuel tank. I do not know when the crack first appeared, but the car was leaking gas in the driveway.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact called on behalf of his mother-in-law who stated that the fuel was leaking underneath the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle also emitted a fuel odor. The contact took the vehicle to the city Chevrolet dealer in san diego, California where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump module failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was unsure if the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Fuel pump pressure sensor not working very expensive to replace.
Drove to work after work came got into car will not start so call the mechanic to come help me and he took it to shop and said something going on with the fuse box and fuel pump can't figure it out done this more than one time have to open trunk touched the fuel pump relay to get going . I haven't had the car but 2 years it needs to be recall on the problem. To many having this problem someone going to get hurt from this .
