1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 01/16/2021

When I'm sitting at a stop light awaiting my turn to proceed with my foot on the break the car is fine. After sitting at the light and it's time to drive, I remove my foot from the break and my car shuts completely off. When I apply a little gas the car turns back on and it malfunctions even more. My dash board goes haywire with different error messages. It says the fuel is low which it is not, I could have a full tank. The back door is unlocked, I've never seen that message before until the malfunction. My blinker tone even changes and my car is reluctant to accelerate. This has occurred twice now.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 12/05/2020

Driving the vehicle and then tapping the brake to come to a stop at a red light it will automatically go into auto stop and then shut everything off even though this is an automatic car to restart the car it's like a standard it has to roll backwards before you can go forwards, the fuel issue is I've already gone through three tanks of gas and this is supposed to be a great car on gas especially on the highway I'm barely getting a 150 for each full tank of gas. The 47 hw and 27 city for gas milage is more like 27hw and 10 city . . . .

Now the car is having a hard time start lik it is not getting any gas at all. I have read severl complaints about this issuse.

I've replaced battery, head gaskets, overflow tank, air system connectors, water pump, pcv valve, evap canister, spark plugs, spark plug wires, radiator, camshaft sensor, coolant temp sensor, but my car is still leaking coolant from underneath lower intake manifold and isn't trying to start. I've spent over $2000 and still haven't seen results or got it to fully function. Last time I drove it was on regular georgia roads going to and coming home from work when it over heated twice going both ways.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 02/18/2019

Check engine light, turned out it was solenoid vent valve, a $36 part that cost me a total of $600 usd to replace after diagnostic fees and shop fees. They had to drop the gas tank to access it. This is a premature failure for a four year old vehicle with only 48,000 km. If this is a regular maintenance item that requires frequent replacement, gm should have put it in a more accessible location so it doesn't cost $600 to replace a $36 part!.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

When I am driving, highway or local, my engine will stutter and shut down, or just quietly shut down right in the middle of traffic. It is happening a lot. I have found myself facing oncoming traffic during some of these stalls. Sometimes I can get it to restart snd other times I cannot. Also. I am having trouble get gas into the tank when fueling. I hear air escaping and the pump will shut off. Local mechanics do not want to tackle that issue. The dealer I bought it from says since I bought it used, as-is, that the problem is on me. I have read online that many people are having this same problem. I don't want me ire anyone to become a fatality because of this. What can be done?.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

I purchased my 2018 Malibu in August 2018. I was getting an average 28 mpg until my first oil change in December 2018. After that, I started getting 20-27 mpg city and 14-20 mpg highway. This car will use an entire tank of gas going approximately 210 miles on the interstate. I have taken it back to a certified gm service department, and they tell me that the car has no service codes. I have spoke to a gm manager, and she told me basically the same thing. I have been told that nothing will be done to correct the issue with my car. I'm not understanding why I got excellent gas mileage from the car during the first 6000 miles and now it fluctuates on city roads and is awful on the interstate. I have never drove a car that got better city miles than highway. The car is also very hesitant and shifts hard at times when accelerating. This is not an every day occurrence, but happens 6 or 7 times a week.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

The gas gage reads the wrong so you don't know how much gas is in your tank. The check engine light stays on so you don't know if it is going off for a different reason. The low fule light goes on all the time even when it is full so you don't know if you are going to run out of gas on the side of the road. The gas issue has been a problem for about a year. I have a second chevy Malibu the same year 2006 and it does the same thing with the fule gage and check engine light. One time the check engine light was going off about something else and I didn't know it because the light is on all the time because of the fule gage. The seat belt light goes off when you have your seatbelt on.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 11/27/2017

Inaccurate gas meter or other fuel components. The meter does not match the reading on the mychevrolet app. I just filled my tank until the pump stops and the meter reads full in my car. The app reads 78% thus I do not know how much gas I really have left. This has been an issue since the day I purchased my car on 12/10/2016. After 2 or 3 visits to my dealer, they fixed the problem after calibrating the meter months ago and it was fine until today. Today 11/27/2017, the meter is now inaccurate again. I do not have this particular problem with any of my other Chevrolet vehicles. There are many complaints relating to this vehicle's gas meter and the car in general if you check Chevrolet's facebook page. This can cause someone to run out of gas before expected in an inconvenient place possibly causing a serious accident and injuries. This needs to be recalled immediately before this becomes a major problem.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Also the engine check light stays on. Sometimes it goes out but comes back on. The fuels gauge is erratic do not know how much fuel is in tha tank at any given time. Mechanic said is very expensive to fix.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 08/27/2017

Since I have bought this used chevy Malibu, if I press the gas pedal to accelerate it sometimes lock myself steering wheel in position, and jerks my car a good bit. Then my car gives me a error message on my radio stating power steering pump fluid. I have done research and took to a mechanic and nobody could find it and suggested it may have a fuse not an actual reservoir for fluid. It occurs at while turning, driving on highways and all other roads, going up and down hills or moutains. As well as my middle seat belt buckle no longer latching into the buckle will hold for a moment and then after applying brakes the safety belt will dislodged from the buckle. Another issue is the gas hand goes from full to empty will sitting still with the car running. I can fill the tank and it will say it's empty and will even have my estimate miles left also say low fuel.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 01/10/2017

I filled my gas tank and when I started my car, the fuel light level went from full to empty with the warning light "low fuel" lit up. Then the service engine light came on. After about 3 to 4 times of driving the vehicle, it seemed to go back to normal, that is until the next time and the next time and so on that I filled my gas tank. It is currently doing the same thing. I do not ever know how much gas I have in the car because the needle goes up and down constantly.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Gas smell in car, near rear of car, and in garage. Have checked for leaks have not found gas on floor but some dampness top of tank area of which I could reach. I have read there's a connection that breaks at fitting. I feel this is definitely a safety issue that should be addressed by g. M. With a recall before a fire or death .

29 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 09/30/2016

After smelling gas fumes for about a week, I pulled into the driveway with the gas tank close to full. After about 5 minutes I looked under the car and saw a 4 to 5 inch diameter wet gas stain on the driveway. Over the next 3 to 4 minutes I observed several drips of gasoline from below the gas tank fall to the driveway. This is a very serious safety and emission problem. This car was purchased new and I plan on bringing it to the dealership where it was purchased ASAP. I have seen other complaints of this problem on line and hope there will be a recall. Sometimes emission components are covered up to 100k miles.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 10/18/2015

My gas tank started leaking for no reason (no wear and tear-every mechanic said that is almost unheard of), my power windows and lock stopped working 2 years after purchase and was told that I had to pay almost $300 to fix each motor for the door locks and windows, the service airbag light has been on for more than a year, my ac also have issues; the sensor and thermostat has been changed 6 times within the last 4 years. I am sick of all of these issues and have no assistance with it. No matter how many times I called the local dealerships here, coincidentally, my warranty was up on every issue I faced. Gm has really taken a lot of money out of my pockets. I was informed of the power steering issue and was told my vehicle would be in the shop for 1 day, which turned into 5 days, and I was denied to be reimbursed for the rental fees, which were almost $600. Someone needs to do something about these issues, because my car is extremely unsafe for myself and 3 children. The windows will not go up or down at times, whether the vehicle is parked or not. The ac is the same issue, the parts will go out whether I am driving it or not. The gas leak issue is awful, because the car wreaks of gas, and my car burns gas whether it is powered on or not. The door locks have not worked since the end of 2010 and we have to manually lock and unlock. The issues with my car are there 24/7, and happens if the car is in motion or not. Although, the issues I have been having have been going on for a while, except the gas leak issue which is recently, I have no choice but put the start as today's present date, because each issue started at different times and continue to cause issues, even after many attempts to repair with some issues.

35 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 05/15/2015

Fuel gauge no longer functioning. After refueling, the fuel gauge began acting sporadic, at times it would indicate that fuel tank was empty even after refueling. Condition continued to get worse and presently fuel gauge just reads empty. Also the check engine indicator light came on and engine code p0463 is active.
