Failure Date: 10/03/2017

We have a 2014 chevy Malibu 2. 5l automatic transmission with 42310 miles on it and both the back hub (wheel bearing assembly's need to be replaced. It started making noises about 200 miles ago and it almost undrivable now. Had to have it towed do to feeling unsafe to drive. I've researched this problem and there are thousands of people who are experiencing this same problem and on top of the car payment I have to spend another 875 bucks to fix a problem I shouldn't be having. I've owned several cars and never had this issue unroll now and this was my first new car purchase and now my last with chevy.

Transmission completly went out with no warning crossing a busy intersection. No lights came on, no noises, would barely go then jerked and excelleration noise as if I reved engine up but I didn't then pulled into parking spot and it wouldnt go into gear and would not move. When started later that day it ran fine and 2 minutes from home it did the exact same thing but now will not move at all and just whines. I read this is an ongoing issue for this model car and gm will not cover bc warranty rums oit before the 5 year 60,000 miles. Something needs done about this. My car only has 57000 miles on it.

5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 08/22/2017

I have had my vehicle for 2 years since day 1 I have had issues with the vehicle from control arms, electrical in doors and car systems, throttle body, stability traction control. I think the car has been in the shop well over 12 times with at least 5 times being the throttle body where the car just looses power and your unable to drive more than 40 mph. It generally would happen on the freeway. I would pull over and have to turn my car off and sit and then turn it back on. The above issues with this car is just to name a few. By the way I purchased the vehicle at 27,000 miles so there is no reason why these issues should continuously be happening. I have called chevy numerous of times complaing that this vehicle is something wrong with it. I believe they have just about replaced every part except for the brakes, engine and transmission and I a sure those are going to be next. I could go on and on about this vehicle however, it is definitely something wrong. I just took it in for check engine light again and noise from rear end sounding like a strut. And they found issue with key thob causing check engine light, leaking strut, and bad wheel bearings. Now that just adds more to the list. Not to mention I get home and the check engine light is back on again and the noise is slightly still there. I have plenty of records I just have to much to upload here, but if someone could please look into my situation. This has truly been a nightmare. We cannot even drive the car on the freeway to far because we are scared we may get stuck.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 04/22/2013

Purchased my 2011 chevy Malibu in April of 2012 with 56k miles, in April of 2013 with 70k+ miles, my transmission failed and I was informed by the nearby chevy dealership that it required a total rebuild and all parts needed to be replaced. My car was still under the warranty and therefore, I did not pay for the services. Around may 5 2014, I received a recall notice for issues with the electrical system/ abs system/ body control module, etc. I took my car back to the same shop for repairs, in which my car was kept for 30 days & returned. Upon receiving my car back I've noticed my car having issues with the electrical system such as the headlights keeps going out when the bulb is still good. My radio constantly shuts off on its own & randomly switches to the aux. The interior lighting is constantly flickering! not only do I have electrical malfunctions, it makes this odd noise & the brakes lock up whenever I slow down to around 20mph & or turning a corner and this esc icon appears. I contacted chevy & asked if there are any recalls for this matter & I was told no, that my car was fixed for all recalls for my model. This issue continues to occur today. On/ around June 19 2015 w/ 115000 miles, my car suddenly stopped accelerating in the middle of i95 hwy & I could not put it into any gear! I knew it was my transmission. I had it towed to the same shop and was told that I have no warranty & I would have to pay $4,106. 45 for a new trans! I have been seeking assistance for this matter, its unfair that I have had this car for 3/4 years and its on its 2nd transmission!! I was quoted for this $ amount and they haven't even opened the trans yet! I was then told to come to the dealership & they would try to get me a new car and it was a complete waste of time. I was told to let my car get repossessed because it was no good and cannot be fixed! I left in tears!! unprofessional!!.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 04/25/2010

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving 19 mph there was a noise in the transmission and around the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice who stated that they were unable to duplicate the failure. A mechanic test drove the vehicle and stated that the noise was coming from the transmission; however, since the mileage was low, they could not repair the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 8,000.

11 Transmission Noise problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 07/27/2009

Purchased new 2009 chevy Malibu 6/16/09 at john thornton Chevrolet. Took car back on 6/20/09 due to malfunctioning brakes; rotors were rusted and had to be skimmed. On 7/27/09, on way to work, car kept stalling in traffic; put foot on gas, would hesitate; heard whizzing noises. Because moving the car was getting worse, I decided to turn around and head to the dealership. When I got on the freeway, the car would not accelerate enough to proceed, it would not go past 20 mph and I knew it was too dangerous to keep going. I pulled off freeway and found a lot to pull over. Called onstar who tapped into my diagnostic and informed me there were two problems indicated in the transmission. I had to have the car towed to the dealership. Since then john thornton gave me a rental. Said they were going to replace a part and last week advised me they have to install a new transmission; it will be coming from the factory and offered to reimburse me the amount of my first car note. As of 8/17/09 they have had my car 3 wks. As of 8/26/09 it will be the 30th day and I will be eligible to either get a refund or replacement vehicle. My complaint is that I have a faulty transmission.
