My 2003 montee ss had been smoking and having problems accelerating & shifting and put on testers and read code and I needed a air flow sensor so I had that put on, was recommended I get tune up so I got that, and had just put new battery in the car. The following day after putting gas in the car I was leaving gas station and lost acceleration again and the car smoked again. I soon lost all power including gas & breaks and windows. People passing by were honking and said the underneath of car and under hood had flames in front of car. I had to throw it in park and jump out because the peddles quit working and the car exploded in flames and had I not had my window down I would have been locked inside and could have lost my life. The engine and whole electrical wire harness had caught fire and the car burned up with 3-5 minutes. This was our only car and the only means of getting disabled child to the appointments he needed and to work and has put hardship on our family.

I have had consistent problems with the abs on this vehicle. I have had it diagnosed at Chevrolet dealers and independent dealers in va. I have replaced all wheel hub/bearing assemblies. That is not the problem. The problem is with the abs wheel sensor wiring harnesses. It is obvious if you go online and research this issue there is no way that Chevrolet is not aware and the many models of vehicles that are affected. I contacted Chevrolet and they have no desire to attempt to help with repairing this safety issue that is well known by dealers, mechanics and consumers. There are currently no TSB's or recalls for this issue. Thanks.

Febuary of this year abs traction sensor and brake system warning light illuminated. When backing iout of driveway or in normal driving at any given speed the brakes would grab and the traction active lights would illuminate. Took vehicle to a dealer, they said it was the left rear wheel hub sensor that failed, but could not duplicate problems consumer was having at that time. The dealer did not replace this, but did reset the sensor. When vehicle was driven away from dealer brakes still had the same problem. Within 24 hours the same issue was actived on the vehicle. Returneds to dealer, this time they replaced the left rear wheel hub sensor. About a month later this happened again. Did phone dealer about this. Consumer made another trip to the dealer, who noted again the left rear wheel sensor had gone bad again. Currently, car is again at the dealer for the 4th time for the same problem. The last occurrence was at a at stop sign, and when applying brake pressure discovered no brakes. Afterwards, immediately drove to dealership, where car is now. Also has had rotors resurfaced, and replaced rear brake pads as well during this process.
