The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that after parking and exiting the vehicle she returned later to discover that the vehicle had caught on fire. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. After inspecting the vehicle the contact discovered that wiring in the engine compartment had overheated and caught on fire. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.

2 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 03/06/2013

2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Consumer writes in regards to a defective trunk light mechanism that ignited a fire in vehicle burning it beyond repair. The consumer stated the vehicle was parked, at the time of the incident.

3 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 10/30/2004

After parking the vehicle for 4 hours or more consumer noticed smoke coming from the trunk. Consumer and a neighbor extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. Dealer/manufacturer were not notified.
