The lighting inside the instrument panel failed to work. The consumer was unable to see the warning icons. There was also a problem with the a/c which did not get cold.

The truck has power, the dash lights and head lights come on, but the truck wont start no crank or anything. The dealer has replaced: wiring and/or connector charging/ staring/battery, motro assembley. Starter, block assembley wiring harness junction engine, switch ignition/ key warning. 5 Dash Wiring problem of the 1998 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 12/18/1999

With the air conditoner the relays and fuses keep blowing. I have taken the vehicle to a air conditoning place and they are not sure. With the abs I was driving down the road in snow. I used the brakes the anti locks came on and all lights interior and exterior cut off completely. Had to stop and restart vehicle. With the elctrical problem I was driving down the road when all my gauges jumped then went to normal. With the trannsmission it has constatly slammed into second and third gear. I have brought to thte dealer numerous times. It was worked on once. They said they replaced numerous parts on the transmission. Upon driving it down the road the same thing happened again.

The pickup was parked in the driveway about six o clock in the afternoon. Then about three o clock in the morning the vehicle caught fire. The fire cheif said it was caused by an electrical spark in the dash area.

10 Dash Wiring problem of the 1996 Chevrolet S10

Engine races between 1200 and 2000 rmps intermittently, particularly when the air conditioner is running. Problem occurs while stopped or at highway speeds. Vehicle will suddenly accelerate with no pressure applied to the pedal. Very dangerous and wear intensive on the brakes.

Speedometer sticks, almost every trip after a short duration (5-10 min). Also, tachometer occasionally sticks during extended drives 3hrs or more. In addition, instrument cluster replaced under warranty after first failure. Speedometer up to 15 mph off. Forcefull tapping on instrument cluster will cause speedometer/tachometer needles to indicate current speed/rpm. Problem is independent of climate control temperature.

The cluster panel lights failed while the consumer was driving. The dealer replaced the panel.
