Four problems related to brake grinding noise have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated when the brake was applied, there was a grinding noise. The abs activated prematurely while driving 10 mph. The dealership was aware of the problem. There was a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the service brakes, hydraulic: antilock. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN.

While braking 5 mph abs made a grinding noise, then the pedal started to pulsate. This caused extended stopping distance, and consumer rear ended another vehicle. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined.
The consumer experienced problems with the brakes. When the brakes were applied, the brake pedal vibrated and went completely to the floor, there was no pressure in the brake pedal. There was also a grinding noise occurring at the same time. The consumer stated the problem was sporadic. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. In some instances, the consumer was unable to stop the vehicle.
