Five problems related to brake light on have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake lines brakes went completely to the floor at the same time brake warning light came on . A little late for a warning. I repaired line and started driving again. Almost a year later to the day same thing happened again. I've owned 21 Chevrolets over a span of 45 years and only had one brake line failure(1969 corvette). I thought this was strange so I did a little research and noticed that all the brake lines had more rust than any thing else under the truck. I looked online and was appalled to learn this has been a known problem for over four years, yet no attempt was made to warn the owners of these trucks. Gm 's response was laughable unless they can remotely tell how much fluid has been lost from each vehicle. Also just like an apple brake lines don't rot evenly unless something else is going on. I live in a state where it snows once or twice a year and melts off within a week and right after I go to the car wash to get the under body wash.
The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the anti-brake warning light illuminated periodically. As of April 2, 2010, the abs light would not turn off. The vehicle had not been taken to an authorized dealership when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were approximately 84,000.
2001 chevy Silverado abs not working properly. Had brakes replaced now brake light will not go out. Brakes pull to the right when applied and take along time to come to a stop. Afraid of getting into an accident due to failure of brakes stopping truck. Sometimes they do not want to work at all. Something needs to be done about this on going problem before someone gets seriously hurt.
My vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck, k1500, has had the anti-lock brake light coming off and on for several weeks. On 70-07-05 I took it to a chevy dealer who said it needed a new anti-lock sensor. Now I read where this model has been recalled, but not in my state! I did not spend the $500. 00 to have a new sensor put in and now feel that because gm knows it is defective, my vehicle should be included in the recall before I have an accident because of it. It seems only right that vehicles that exhibit the fault and the company knows about it, they should be the ones to fix it! I'd like to know what I should do now? thank you.
While braking from 55 mph the brake pedal became hard and the vehicle would not stop. The abs brake light also illuminated on the dash. The consumer was able to pull over to the shoulder and stop the vehicle by pulling up the emergency brakes. The driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection.
