Service brakelines rotted and caused a complete loss of service brakes - while driving and close to home - used emergency brakes and low gear to get to home. Spoke to friend at chevy dealer. They are having problems with this truck series due to corrosion and premature rusting. Truck is currently in garage due to failure (corrosion) of transmission cooling lines. Current mileage 15,211. Lost both anti-lock brake modules and alternator and temperature sensors.

This has been on going from day one my truck has 30900 miles on it and almost 3 years old head lights flicker or dim out for no reason along with the dash lights dealer said it was nothing they could do it was just that type of voltage regulator.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/06/2007

The cluster panel gauges are all malfunctioning, some have gone completely out I. E. Speedometer, oil gauge, alternator, etc. Fan motor and adapter wires caught fire, shorted out.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 06/23/2002

Positive battery terminal leaked acid onto positive cables causing main ecm to short and turn off truck while driving. Also, found acid had eaten through the alternator charging wire and insulation causing a possible fire potential if not found.

6 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/14/2001

Transmission went out at 40,000 miles. Consumer was told that transmission was not under warranty. Battery and alternator failed, short circuit fuse caused failure of brake lights and turn signals. Injector failed. Water pump failed. Vehicle jumped out of gear, was towed to dealer who informed consumer that transmission needed replaced, consumer is angry that a vehicle with such low mileage would have transmission failure and Chevrolet will not asist in repairs.
