2 Engine Failure problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

I have a concern about the 5. 3 liter engine in my 2013 chevy Silverado. I am encountering piston slap for up to 5 minutes when starting vehicle. I have contacted gm multiple times, and I have had the piston slap noise documented at roy robinson Chevrolet in marysville wa. I am attempting to get my defective engine replaced under warranty, but gm does not seem to care. I am concerned one of the pistons could fail, causing engine failure, putting myself or a family member in a fatal situation. I believe this issue is important to have documented. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

8 Engine Failure problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/29/2003

2002 chevy Silverado with a 4. 8l engine knock, from what gm said is piston slap. They said they will not fix this problem at this time. They said they send out a letter of warranty for six years or 100,000 miles, if engine fails due to the piston slap/knock. I think that something needs to be done about this. There could be a safety issue with this, such as engine failure on the interstate. We the consumer should not be told to deal with it, when paying up to 30,000 dollars for a new vehicle, that has a piston knock. This needs to be fixed, not covered up.

9 Engine Failure problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/20/2001

Engine knocks very badly at cold or hot start up. Knocking lasts for minutes. Chevrolet says they know about problem. States that the piston skirts are too short causing piston wobble. They also start they can't fix at this time. Engine sounds like a diesel at start up noise is so bad. I am nervous to take truck out of town for fear of engine failure.

10 Engine Failure problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 05/01/2001

5. 3l engine developed a knock at approx 17000 miles. Complaint made to gm dealership, they acknowledged the issue and stated that "gm is aware of problem and working on a fix". Gm now claims it is normal engine noise and no fix required. If it's normal why don't all the 5. 3's do it ? gm has issued me an "extended component warranty" for the engine only for an additional 2 years and 64k miles after expiration of factory 3/36. If they won't fix under warranty now what good is and extended warranty?? gm needs to resolve this engine problem now before customers start seeing engine failures and abnormal oil usage because of it. Nhtsa, as well as state attorney generals offices needs to make gm resolve this issue of consumer fraud for not honoring the warranty and to resolve the issue.
