Noises During Shifting Problems of Chevrolet Silverado

Hard downshifting when going down hills at slow speed. Jerking and clunking noise, and rpm goes up and sounds like gears are grinding. I have taken it to the dealership and they tell me nothing is wrong. It happens every time I am going down a hill with the breaks applied and going at a slow speed. The truck jerked so bad that the seat belt locked.

A 2017 chevy Silverado with a 5. 3l at 80000 miles the water pump went bad I had a 2006 same truck and it was 200000+ . Miles before I had to deal with this issue. I don't know if I'm the only one that had the water pump issue so soon or if this is a common problem with this truck that needs to be looked into, also excessive noises from the transmition when up or down shifting at low speeds and is like if struggled to down shift when you need it like when you need to pass a car in front of you most times you have to give it excessive throtle and only then it downshifts in a violent manner, again do not know if this is something that is only happening to me or if there is someone else out there with the same truck having similar issues, thanks.

Truck down and upshifts hard. When slowing down for a car in front of me, when I get back on the gas, the truck has no power like it can't figure out what gear to be in. Makes a loud clunking noise with light acceleration from 1st to 2nd gear. There is major hesitation when trying to down shift no matter what gear I'm in. Problem needs to be fixed before someone gets injured. Been to chevy 3 times for the same problem and all they tell me is the transmission will learn how you drive. They also told me there is no new update for the transmission module so I'm screwed.

Very hard shift going from 1st to 2nd gear and from 2nd gear to 1st gear. The shift was so hard that the tires made a chirping noise and hardly any throttle was being used.

A rough clunk noise occurs when trying to stop, and car actually revs to accelerate speed when applying breaking and trying to stop. (in . Motion) this is a dangerous issue. Transmission does not appear to smoothly enter into subsequent gears. A jerk occurs in between shifting of gears. (moving) I have been completely stopped on a flat street, and relax my foot off the break, and the car wants to leap jump forward. This is not safe. (stopped) there are several reports of this issue found in online forums from other owners with the same 2017 chevy Silverado. Just purchased vehicle in November.

Drive train shifts hard & @ times does not shift correctly( while driving city streets) & engine stalls when I excelerate from a stoping point & also ticking noise from exhaust system ( in motion & stationary city streets).

We purchased this 2014 chevy Silverado crew cab in January of 2014 it was driven by the general manager of the local chevy dealership it had approximately 3500 miles on it ,the issues started as soon we got it home 1)the alarm went off while sitting in our drive way (no one around it daylight) 2)the head lights went out while driving it at night 3)the speaker would crackle when you open the doors 4)the doors would not unlock when vehicle was put in park 5) noise from the transmission but the dealership called it normal 6)transmission would shift with a thud sometimes dealership said transmission had to learn our driving habits 7)horn would start off strong then die to a muffle 8)film on the inside of the windshield and the smell of coolant inside the vehicle but the dealership says it can't duplicate the problem but can see the film on the windshield 8)4 wheel drive was making a rumbling noise the bearing has to be shipped from gm because the part is not available yet 9 )the heated seats quit heating 10) the doors could not be unlocked from inside the vehicle I had to use the remote entry to get in the person inside the vehicle could not get the doors to unlock 11)the turn signals quit working the sockets had to be replaced 12) I am sure I forgot something but this is the list of issues that I could remember . We have contacted gm directly but they are pretty much worthless at this point no one has died yet that I know of and until then gm will not take ownership of these issues orrville ohio.

Brakes are spongy does not stop truck until pumped,power train clunking noise when turning and shifting,electrical at times dash lights dim at any given time, many other complaints very rough ride, trans shifts very hard, when coming to a traffic light runs rough. Has been to dealer once and last Thursday got a call from gm the dealership has not responded to my problems.

I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado crew cab that makes clanking sound when the transmission shifts into third gear. I went to the local dealership and was told that this is "normal for this truck". The truck has less than 16,000 miles on it. The mechanic told me that he was "surprised that it had not started making this noise sooner". It has become progressively louder and can be heard with the windows down. Coincidentally, this is the same sound the truck started making a few months ago when I would take off at a stoplight/stop sign. I could feel a pause and then it would clank and start to move. Again this can be heard with the windows down. I went to the dealership at that time and was told "this is normal operation". Now the truck clanks when taking off from a stop and when it shifts into third gear.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado c1500. When attempting to accelerate the vehicle at 10 mph, the contact heard a loud clunking and revving noise as if it were downshifting or upshifting. The dealer speculated that the transmission was the cause of the failure. The technician referenced TSB number 10022769, but there was no current remedy. The contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 37,000 and current mileage was 41,000.

Vehicle is parked in garage overnight,get in to start ,shift lever in park,turn on key,vehicle's transmission sends out a "clunk", as if to engage and go forward or backward. This type of action started around 8000 miles as a slight, "clunk" extending into 49000 miles with a hard jarring"clunk". Of course I took it to dealer in the course of the warranty ,had them note and record defect,however dealer could not get vehicle to perform this operation while in their possession which extended over night and sometimes 2 nights. While the vehicle does not do this on a regular basis,it is notably getting a harder sounding, more pronounced "clunk". The shifting noise of the transmission is becoming evident, that is in low speed there is more rough clunking as the transmission goes through it's gears.

When shifting from the second to third gear a loud banging noise was produced. Dealer has rebuilt the transmission. C urrently, when shifting first gear to second gear a loud noise is produced. Consumer is concerned that the transmission will fail while driving.

When shifting from park to drive or reverse while applying the brakes a loud clanking noise was head from the rear. Also, the passenger's side seat unexpectedly unraveled. Consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the rear slip yoke of the transmission needed to be replaced.

A clunk sound emanates from the driveline of my 2004 Silverado mostly when shifting from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 2nd. The clunk also occurs between no acceleration and accelleration while in 2nd gear. Occasionally the noise occurs between 1st and 2nd gear. The problem began at approximately 2000 miles. It has gotten worse as I now approach 20,000 miles. I am concerned about a driveline failure or damage to driveline components due to repeated torsional impacts.

Transmission slips between dead stop to second gear-more noticeable when wheel is turned. "clunking" noise when shifting. Dealer was unable to find anything wrong. (2003-2500hd crew).

I am complaining of a clunking sound and a hard shift coming from the transmission in a 2-3 upshift in a 03 Silverado automatic. I have taken it to the dealer many times and they tell me that gm says the noise and shifting is normal. I have driven many cars and nothing I have driven shifts like that. I wish gm would have to do a recall and correct the problem.

When stopping, brake pedal was down to the floor. Abs brakes locked up and vehicle slid before coming to a stop. Took vehicle to dealer who could not duplicate the problem. Dealer replaced leaking master cylinder and deglazed the rotors. Transmission experienced slipping, clunking and would not shift into 1st gear, dealer replaced transmission. Rear end is noisy, u-joints have been replaced, however noise reoccured, consumer states Chevrolet has a u-joint and bearing problem.

Other equipment; severe vibration that feels like body flexes between 65-75mph. I have slowed and pulled off onto the should fearing personal saftey. I have brought it to 2 dealerships for a total of 5 times, and spoken with gm customer service, as well as written a letter to Chevrolet. They claim that it is a new "charateristic" of this year, no fix. Powertrain:transmission:automatic - it shifts into overdrive at about 37 mph producing a growling sound, brought to two dealerships for a total of 5 times, no fix. Other equipment - clunk noise from front.

When driving the truck and slowing down to come to a stop there is a clunking noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle. Once in a while this happens when making a complete stop and picking up speed. As soon as the transmission shifts itmakes a clunking sound. Dealer stated that this is a normal noise.
