On acceleration from a stop, the rpm's race while shifting. Vehicle acts as if the transmission is slipping from 1-2. Early in the life of the vehicle I thought this was only something that happened the first time shifting after pulling out of the garage however, as the truck gets more miles on it, the problem happens more often and when taking off from stops when hot. Vehicle was brought to dealer to diagnose complaint and was told there was a bulletin to address this problem but since the tech couldn't verify it, they didn't do anything. Dealer said I have a good powertrain warranty so if something breaks later I should be covered. Not only is this unprofessional and poor customer service, they literally did nothing to attempt to diagnose or confirm the problem. There seems to be numerous complaints on this site related to rpm racing complaints.

Since I purchased this truck in June 2013, I've had several occasions where when the truck sits without being used for several days, when I back out of my driveway and put the transmission in drive, the transmissions slips. The truck won't move for a second, the engine rpm's race and then when the transmission catches, it will actually squeal the tires. Then at times it will continue to do this for the first several times I stop at a light or stop sign. This doesn't seem to happen once the truck has been driven for a distance, and it doesn't happen everytime the truck is used. I've talked to the service manager at the dealership and he says they've not had any issues with other trucks. I'm actually going to pick up the service manager and have him with me when I start my truck today after it has set for four days. I hope it does this with him in the vehicle so he can feel what's happening. I've been a loyal chevy owner for over 30 years but I'm really disappointed in this truck which costs $45,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact

When removing his foot from the brake, the vehicle would independently roll backward. The vehicle was left with the dealer where the contact was awaiting repairs. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 27,000.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. While approaching a stop, the contact heard grinding metal, which sounded as if the gear was slipping. The vehicle was still able to be driven, but made a continuous whining sound coming from the transmission. The vehicle was taken to a transmission shop and the entire transmission will need to be rebuilt. The manufacturer stated that they would not assist with the repair. The failure mileage was 51,000 and current mileage was 72,945.

: the contact stated while attempting to pass another vehicle at 45 mph, there was a loud noise noticed coming from under the vehicle. The transmission was slipping and the reverse was inoperable. The dealership was alerted.
The transmission slips upon acceleration. The transmission will slip when crossing an intersection, making the vehicle volurnable to be hit. The rpm's rise while the vehicle is in drive and the vehicle comes to an almost stand still. This has happened a few times but no accident occered. The vehicle's transmission slipped while crossing a 4 lane divided highway with traffic flowing at 65mph. No accident occered and the transmission engaged before an accident could occered. Gm has been contacted many times with no response to fixing the problem. Gm wants to duplicate the problem before fixing, and telling me no service can be done at this time. Gm wants me to drive the vehicle even though they are aware of this safety hazzard and putting me and my family at risk on the highways.

Vehicle shifts hard and makes clunking sound in all gears. The transmission is constantly slipping between first and second gears and slams into second gear. Also having intermittent issues with truck slipping in first gear from a dead stop. There is a constant "knocking" feeling in the steering wheel when going over bumps and turning. Dealer claims nothing is wrong. I have been a loyal gm customer for years and am extremely dissatisfied.

Since I've bought my 2004 chevorlet Silverado. I've had the oil pump replaced. Then I stated to hear noises in my engine. I took it back to have then look over the lifters and valves and power/sterring, it is still making a winedy noise. They said" that's normal. Then I took it into a friends place, "brake masters of camarillo. They told me it is the power sterrinng pump. So I tookit back to the, and I told them I didn't want it back til it was fixed. They told me it would just sit there and there was nothing wrong w/ it. So I took it and now I'm going to take it in again for the same winedy noise and see what they say now. I have not been satisfied w/ this truck. The transmission has been slipping and other noises have been getting worse, and they just don't want to fix it. They just want to blow you off and tell you that everything is normal.
In Feb. 2005, bought a new chevy. Silverado hd truck. 6 days later while 90 miles from home, transmission burned out of truck. Unable to go faster than 35 mph, smoke rolling out of rear. Transmission slipping while this going on. Parked near a gas station to call roadside assistance, absolutely no help what-so-ever. This was at 6:30pm and they couldn't locate a tow truck. 11 days later I got my truck returned with a new transmission(gm refused to give me a new one).
2004 Chevrolet Silverado. The consumer states that the transmission has a slip in it and it stalls. The dealership insists there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and it cannot be fixed. The vehicle hesitates and then clangs when it catches into gear. The manufacturer stated they need to speak with the dealership before they could make a decision. The problem has been occurring since approximately February 2005. This does not happen all of the time.
Truck bounces. Gm replaced with same results. Replaced with aftermarket monroe gas magnums which helped some. Suspension is still weak. Transmission slips while driving. Informed dealer who said transmission guy was not in that day. Will contact the dealer again.
Problem with transmission hard shift from 1 to 2nd and at times won't shift until you release gas and step on gas again. Sometimes when taking off from a stop transmission slips, causing vehicle not to move, then engages when rpms is high causing vehicle to jerk into gear.
While driving transmission slipped gears, causing the consumer to drive in first gear. Dealership repaired the problem once, but problem recurred.
Transmission started slipping and stopped shifting into 3rd gear at 50,000 miles. Was rebuilt at trans service shop. Cause was lack of ground wire between control module and transmission causing erratic fluid pressures. I paid the $1470. 00 repair bill. TSB described the defect, I was not notified. This was preventable from chevy's perspective.

While driving between first and second gears transmission slipped intermittently, causing vehicle shutter violently, and became very hard to down shift.
When taking off from a stop transmission slips, causing vehicle to fail to move, then engages when rpms is high causing vehicle to jerk into gear. Can be very dangerous when pulling into a intersection and vehicle fails to move. I have almost wrecked several times because of the delay. Does not happen all the time dealership has been notified 7 times and failed to fix it.
The transmission slips when either starting from a complete stop or when shifting from 1st to 2nd gears. You can feel the truck then jerk into gear when engaged. Note: this is an automatic transmission and does not do it on a consistent basis. It seems that temperature or road conditions are not a factor. I have taken the vehicle into a Chevrolet dealer 5 times and the problem still persists. Dt.
Rebuilt transmission still slipping now also is geared wrong and clunking when shifting from p/r/n/d was not happening befor rebuilding it. Handed bulleten stating it was normal. Engine has knocking and pinging all the time. Gm will not do anything about it is normal. They gave us a 100,000 mile 6 yr warranty except there is a clause that states it does not cover pre existing conditions and they refuse to send us something stating this is not considered a pre exisiting condition it's in our file and said they would do notthing more for me said good bye and hung up. Engine is also losing gas mileage, power and is missing. We are concerned that it may cause problems while we are towing our boat based on your service bulletin number 01058 builetin sequence number 620. We are concerened that it may cause serious injury or loss of life. Dt.

Transmission slips during the 1-2 up shift at moderate throttle input causing a distinctive clunk and could be a possible safety concern on two wheel drive vehicles on slippery roads, where as vehicle loss of control could occur when transmission engages. Vehicle returned to dealer twice with concern, one attempt to fix with replacement of transmission output shaft. This did not help.
Transmission slips after taking off from a complete stop, causing engine to rev up, transmission clunks into gear, causing truck to lurch forward.
Driving truck and transmission started to slip, then trans heated up to 300 degrees. Smoke came from trans and burnt smell. Truck only had 6500 mileage on it. Truck was a 2500 hd with hd auto trans and snowplow prep package. Dealer replaced trans with new trans, but made it sound like it was my fault. Unhappy with dealer response to problem on this new truck.
