6 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/10/2020

1st to 2nd gear shifts are hesitant and rough, sometimes dangerous causing truck to jump forward. Usually in parking lots. If stopped on a downhill ; I take foot off brake then the truck will roll like all cars do, and then when I step on the accelerator, the truck engine will rev up as if in neutral then slam into gear causing me to nearly rear end the cars in front on multiple occasions.

7 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

Transmission is constantly jerking and hard shifting. It also lags when trying to accelerate. Tried to get it looked at under warranty and was told "welcome to the future" by the dealership. They wouldn't even drive or look at it. Feels like I've been ripped off, why even offer warranties?.

8 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/13/2019

When coming to stop my truck regularly has very hard downshifting. Along with a very audible clunk from the rear end, I will experience a feeling that I can only deceive as being hit by another vehicle. This results in sometimes having to brake harder as you feel like your going to move forward rapidly. A very similar experience happen when pulling out slowly in low gears. These two combined can be extremely hazardous as well as just very obnoxious/annoying when driving in a yielding situation.

9 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 09/23/2019

Transmission is faulty, has been to the dealer where I purchased several times, they flushed the trans 2 or 3 times then finally rebuilt the transmission with around 60,000 miles. Now I'm at 70,000 miles and having transmission problems again. It surges between gears, sometimes feels like I've been rear ended and sometimes seems to skip a gear and be in neutral for a few seconds before clucking into gear.

12 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

Driving from connecticut to south carolina my truck developed a bad vibration between 45mph to 70mph. The dealer says that the transmission needs to be flushed. This vehicle has 34k for miles. They claim that no damage is being done to the transmission. This I believe is a safety issue and should be recalled. The vehicle is still at the dealership and my family and I are stranded while they claim that gm needs reading before they can flush the transmission fluid.

13 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

Transmission has stopped working properly.

14 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

When at highway speeds (anywhere between 40-75) there is a very noticeable shaking when engine is under light load (just keeping speed). I have taken in to chevy dealership and they changed the transmission fluid and that worked for a couple thousand miles. Not the "chevy shake" is back at full force. Upon calling chevy, they claim to know that their trucks do this, but say there is not a fix to solve the issue. They claim they have no clue where it's coming from, but should not be a safety hazard. My question is, if you do not know what it is, how can they say it's not a safety hazard. I am so afraid that my truck is going to break down and it's not even two years old. I have read the thousands of complaints online with people having the exact same issue, since the 2014 model. They have had enough time to figure this out and should be held accountable.

15 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 04/28/2019

At low speeds under braking when downshifting from gear 2 to 1, the shift is not smooth. There is a significantly loud clunk that you can feel and hear, and passenger safety is compromised due to a sudden lurch forward.

16 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 02/20/2019

Right rear wheel hub nut backed off damaging housing spindle threads and slightly bending the housing. Gm will not replace housing even though it appears that a crack is forming where it was stressed. There is a recall for this problem but my truck is not involved. Gm will not check the left side like the recall says should be done also. I believe that there is a crack starting to form and could be a problem while driving in the future.

17 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Transmission abruptly shifting. Feel like the truck is being hit by another vehicle. I don't know when it's gonna do it but when it does, its scary. The other day while trying to back up into my drive way, the would not move when I pushed on the pedal. Then on it's own, the truck burned rubber backwards when I took my foot off of the gas pedal. I almost drove into my garage! this truck is not safe and needs to be removed from service! this is an ongoing problem that you never know when it's going to happen during you drive.

21 Power Train problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 12/26/2017

Engine hesitation, or misfiring. Jerking, or transmission shuttering when engine is at low rpm and on incline. (I. E. When traveling about 45mph and start up a hill, the rpm's are about 1300, and the transmission doesn't gear down, so it starts shuttering until you give it more acceleration than usual. ) after dealing with this issue for nearly 8 months and 15k miles, I believe this safety issue should be recalled. Dealer originally acknowledge the problem but was unsure of the cause. After 5 repair attempts the dealer say they can't duplicate and the vehicle performs as designed.

26 Power Train problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/21/2016

Here's my story for those that will listen. I purchased the vehicle brand new and a few days later I mentioned to the salesman that it drove unusual and he replied that it could be from sitting on the lot. . . So I waited for the first scheduled maintenance and let them know that there was something not right with the shifting of the vehicle. I noted that it was loud clunking at downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear and also a clunk shift when the vehicle approaches a complete stop. The downshift is so hard that it is felt in the brake pedal. This is the part to me that raises the safety concern. The response was that they checked it and that everything was normal. I was informed that it should get smoother as it break in. They went on to say if I bring the vehicle in for the same issue and nothing is found that I would have to pay a diagnostic fee. So now at approx. 20,000 miles and I contacted general motors. They agreed for more diagnostic and now there is a technical service bulletin that states that it is a normal characteristic of the vehicle. Now the vehicle has feels like it got worse and drives terrible and unsafe. Meanwhile there are complaints about this same problem on the internet and nobody has done anything about it. It's funny that 2016 Silverado is the same truck but without the problem. Gm needs to make good on their productions mistake and support there product. Silverado drivers experiencing the same condition should complain to make manufacturers responsible. Please investigate!!!!!!!!!!!!.

27 Power Train problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 03/04/2016

I have a 2015 chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 with 5000 miles. While driving to work ( less then 2 miles) my service 4wd system warning came up. The truck is stuck in 4wd can not switch it out. Also while stuck in 4wd turning is very difficult. Called dealership they told me it was safe to drive it in. While on my way to the dealership still stuck in 4wd my check engine and traction control lights came on. The truck started to shack and shifting at random and the rpm were all over up and down. I got to the dealership and checked in they took it for a test drive while I waited. After waiting 4 hours they tell me the engine has issues they don't know what or why and that it will be a few days before they will know anything. So that waiting game begins.

28 Power Train problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

October 31, 2014 on my home from work I heard a bang. The truck pulled very hard to the left taking me into the concrete barrier that divides the highway. Vehicle was in motion us highway 41/45 65 mph. After the truck was investigated at the dealer to give an estimate on the damage it was discovered the left rear axel was broken. Questioning the dealer about this issue and not getting anywhere I talked to different mechanics that I know after a week or so it was discovered there was a recal for insuffcient heat treated rear axles talking to the dealer and I was told this did not pertain to my vehicle as the recall was taken care of at the factory. I cantacted Chevrolet and was told that because I had given the ok for the dealer to make the repairs. My insurance company would need to fole paper work against Chevrolet which myself I believe is wrong . I was also told by the dealer broken axle was typical of this kind of impact. There is no damage on the side panel or rear of the truck I do have pictures on my phone which I have not downloaded to my computer.

31 Power Train problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

While merging onto the express way I had a major loss of power and a slight shake in my Silverado. Multiple engine lights came on (stability track, traction control, and blinking engine light). On my way to the nearest gm dealer, at every stop light the truck lacked power to get going when the peddle was pushed, then it would kick in and screech the tires. After leaving the truck at the dealer, I receive phone call from the dealer the following day stating that the lifter (afm lifter) had malfunctioned and was stuck. I asked what causes this (because my truck only has about 39,700 miles on it), and the dealer stated it was "an issue with the design of the engine. " I then researched the internet (gm forums, social media, NHTSA) to find out that this is a huge issue. Many owners had the bad lifter replaced under warranty, only to have a different lifter go bad. I decided to have the dealer replace all my lifters, because that is what they recommended and they admitted there is a good chance I would be back in for the same issue on the other lifters if I didn't replace them. The dealer contacted gm to see if any of my repair could be covered under the powertrain warranty because I only have 39,700 miles on it, but my truck was 8 years old so they said they wouldn't. I contact gm to see if I could directly get anything covered seeing I only had 39,700 miles, plus bought an extended warranty that just expired last year. I was transferred through 5 different representatives that all admitted that the lifter failure is "an issue, but not a recall. " if they know its an issue, the dealers know its an issue, its a extremely common issue all across the internet, why wont gm take care of it? my Silverado cost over $45,000 when new, you think it should last well over 100,000 miles with no engine problems.

32 Power Train problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/18/2015

Last fall 10/14 replaced all brake lines due to corrosion (97000 miles). Which has been mentioned numerous times already. After that abs light came on intermittently lost brakes last week to it to the shop they had it for the day everything worked fine. Continued driving light started coming back on & brakes were erratic. Yesterday was pulling out of parking lot had no brakes. If these are known problems why isn't anyone taking care of it. Why you would put untreated brake lines on a vehicle in the salt districts is beyond me. I had an 1989 Oldsmobile with the original line on it til 198,000 miles. I also replaced the transmission at 77,000 miles due to corrosion of the lines. ($2700).

33 Power Train problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Has a vibration at 65, turns into a bad shake at 75.

34 Power Train problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

While driving down the highway a stabilization control light came on briefly, then went away. Approximately 5 miles later after exiting the highway, and going down a side street, the truck died and the steering wheel locked when I slowed and started to make a right hand turn into a parking lot. This has since occurred once more under similar conditions while slowing, braking and turning at low speeds and not under throttle.

35 Power Train problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado

Failure Date: 06/30/2015

This is the 10th time this has happened, and 3rd time the vehicle has entered the service center. Own a 2015 chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab z71, and when attempting to start the vehicle, it does not turn over, indicating that there is a theft deterrent issue. The first time the dealer was unable to replicate the issue or error code. The second time several error codes were present, which the dealer reset. This appeared to fix the issue, until 1 month later the issue presented itself again. The vehicle is currently with the dealer on it's third repair attempt. This can be very unsafe for a vehicle since in an emergency need the vehicle could be incapable of being driven.
