We purchased a chevy Silverado pickup in 2006. My husband has babied this truck, never pulled anything heavy and has rarely had it in 4 wheel drive. In December 2009 the transmission started acting up, the truck at this time had 20,400 m/l miles on it and not much more at this time, yes twenty thousand four hundred. The warranty expired as it was 3 years or 36,000 miles. The dealership bill roberts cheverolet that we purchased this truck was in bolivar mo 60 miles from us, the warranty was out so we hired a local mechanic to do the job for us. He is a certified mechanic and has done warranty work for a Ford dealership in appleton city mo and other dealerships in the area. We knew that if we took it to the dealership it would cost us more than having it done locally and my husband did not want to haul it 60 miles or any miles to be repaired knowing that we had no warranty and no trailer to haul it on. . I felt like this should not have happened with the low miles on the truck and called the dealership. I spoke to the parts department who informed me that since we took it somewhere else other than them that we could not be helped but had we brought it to them they could have helped out with it due to the low miles, even though the warranty was up. Now a warranty is a warranty and is black and white, apparently there is also gray, which we as consumers are not aware of. So how were we to know to take it to them under the circumstances. How were we to know that there were gray areas in the warranty as it was not listed as so. We paid almost 1500. 00 for this to be repaired out of our own pocket. I work 2 jobs so thankfully we had the money but if I wasn't it would have been a financial burden on us, especially at christmas time. My husband has taken his vehicle to the dealership for recalls to be repaired, they have a log of the miles listed at those times, and has faithfully kept it serviced.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado. At about 20,000 miles the truck started to hesitate whenever I would take off from a red light, it would do this about once a month or so. At 30,000 miles or so, it would kind of jump into gear when first taking off or jump into reverse. Dealer would say they test drive at each oil change but could not find nothing, I was sure they wouldn't because it didn't happen every time. Now it's occurring every other week or so. Finally at 76,000 miles it wouldn't get pass second gear, dealer finally found a problem and now it's $2800 to replace parts. No heavy city driving, I only live 5 minutes from work. I put the truck on the highway once a month to travel about 300 miles round trip. The only time the dealer wrote anything down, I discovered, was after the warranty expired. I talked with another 2007 Silverado owner and they have 17,000 miles and the transmission is jumping into gear.

The ac has never worked . Took it to coutesy chevy 3times. Still dose not work. Had to replace the wheel bearings. Took it there 2 times 4 that. Had 2 rebuild the transmission once . And now its acting up 10,000 miles later. This is a 2006 chevy Silverado that I paid 25,000 $ for only 2 years ago.
Hesitation on acceleration. While merging onto an interstate highway pressed the accelerator to rapidly increase speed but the vehicle hesitated causing me to have to continue down the shoulder and actually stop to avoid a stalled vehicle on the shoulder. I have taken my vehicle to two different dealers to investigate the hesitation on acceleration both have stated that this is normal operation for the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Although I didn't have an accident with this particular incident I have noticed this hesitation during normal day to day driving. This is a safety issue.

Had to replace a flexplat twice on 2003 Chevrolet 1500hd (4x4). First one at 43,000 miles, the second one was at 78,000 miles. Chevrolet would not help on either one. They also said they had no problems with it but the transmission shop found a service bulletin stating to use a new spacer if you do have problems.

The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle lost speed and the gears began to spin. The vehicle came to a complete stop. The contact attempted to switch gears, but the vehicle failed to move. The transmission was diagnosed as the cause of failure and was replaced. The contact stated that a transmission should not fail at 40,000 miles. The current mileage was 42,692 and failure mileage was 40,000.

I have a '05 Chevrolet Silverado, I recently discovered that when the key in the ignition is turned to the accessory position (one turn with the vehicle off), the vehicle will be able to shift out of the parked position without applying the brake. I have taken it to the Chevrolet dealer they say that is how it is supposed to be. Not only my truck did it, my friends '03 Ford f-350 also does it too! I am not sure if all vehicles are designed like that or not. When the vehicles key is in the run position with the vehicle off, you have to push down the brake pedal before you can shift out of park. The whole idea I thought was to prevent a young child from shifting a vehicle out of park and roll into traffic! the way my truck, and possibility a whole lot more was designed, a child would have a 50-50 chance of turning the key just one time, and that could lead to a catastrophe.

Automatic transmission at times hesitates before engaging when accelerator is pushed. It has happened numerous times - the last being the date listed below.
: the contact stated while driving the neutral start backup switch gets wet and causes the transmission to lock up. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop where the contact was informed of the problem.
2001-2002 Silverado pickup with allison lct1000 auto-trans. Bulletin 02-07-30-011b I have had this switch fail twice, gm knows of the bulletin but fails to see how dangerous the truck becomes when switch fails. You have variety of shifting problem, and truck lunges into and out of gears as you can not find neutral/park.
Frequently my 2003 chevy Silverado hesitates to pull off after coming to a complete stop. I've taken it to two dealerships for the problem with the transmission. They state it is a problem with the computer programming which has the transmission pulling off in second gear instead of first and they have no solution for this problem, just keep driving.
Transmission line leaking badly.
Tried to drive truck Dec. 28, 2005 had no reverse. By time I could drive to dealers it didn't want to shift in forward gears. Dealer took apart and said some things came apart inside the transmission. Cost me $2000. 2002 Silverado only had 45000 miles on it.
Failure of the neutral position safety switch, 2004 chev Silverado diesel with allison transmission. The safety switch shorts out and fails due to wet driving conditions. This failure results in the transmission going into a "fail safe" condition that does not allow the transmission to shift, stranding the vehicle. Chevrolet has redesigned the part now 3 times, but will not warranty or stand behind their product. This switch has failed on me twice during snow conditions.
The contact stated while driving on the interstate there was severe vibration . He drove slowly to the dealer for inspection while the vibration weakened at a reduced speed. The dealer performed a diagnostic test that produced a code involving the automatic transmission. Upon further inspection, the extension housing of the transmission cracked and was leaking transmission oil. No repairs were performed by the dealer due to the extensive work and expense. The contact scheduled an appointment with a transmission specialist to repair the vehicle.
When vehicle has been driven for less than 2-3 miles and when transmission is cold the following occurs: when the vehicle operator stops at an intersection, stop sign, or street corner - the engine and transmission continues to propel the vehicle forward while the brakes are applied. The result is that the brakes are fighting against the engine. The vehicle operator must put the vehicle in neutral to stop the vehicle. In many cases, the vehicle travels well into the intersection or well past the normal stopping point before it finally comes to a halt. The result has been several near colliisions with cross traffic. The dealer has been consulted, but the response has been: "unable to duplicate the problem - all systems operating correctly" "this is not true!! this vehicle has only 16,000 miles and is 18 mos old - but this has occurred nearly 10 times. The most recent is 12/2/05.
Hello: last week my transmission gave out on my 2002 chevy Silverado when I was going down the highway. After a detailed investigation, I have discovered that this is a common problem with this particular transmission, as they have corrected it on the 2003 models. I have 58,000 miles on my vehicle. The sun shell in the transmission "strips" out it's gears due to improper material used for the part. There is a technical bulletin on this matter. It cost me $2300 to have it fixed. Please let me know what I can do. Thanks so much.
1. Driven vehicle for 5,600 miles, no special events 2. While in reverse, vehicle accelerates and decelerates without pushing on the accelerator pedal. 3. Computer replaced after we refused to drive, gm said vehicle was safe to drive.
[5] major problems Chevrolet Silverado z71 extended cab 4 door lt 350cu. In 5. 7 liter. This truck came with the tow haul equip. And was sold with improper tires for the use described. Tires where firestone 245/75-16. Steeltex a/t #108/104r m/s new vehicle sticker also. To me. This fraud #2) next failure: lost all braking going down a slight grade. Brake pedal went flat to the floor. I released pressure. Pushed again. Down to the floor but with pulsing felt through pedal. Released again same . . . Used both legs on one brake pedal other on parking brake. Engine shaking during this. Approx. Stopping distance 600-700-yards. ! informed dealer when next service due at 15. 000mi. No comment no issue #3) next failure: gm crap exhaust system manifold cracked in two@17. 156mi. And converter blockage due to breakage of manifold fragments. #4) next failure: same as #2 above. Breaking loss for brief 90-200 seconds. Enough time to be seriously injured or cause one. 17,982. 47 mi #5) 20 mi round trip on way home on freeway sudden decrease in speed and the rpm gauge is at 6,000 rpm it does not go any higher. Then it grabbed and sped way up. Let off gas and sling shot type erratic speeds with same pressure on gas next pedal. Same damn time. I will never reach that space in time or miles before this unreliable defect laiden poorly designed piece of shody merchandise kills me or someone else. The service dept wants me to authorize take down of transmission and dissemble the unit and said needed to notify gm. Also they mentioned 66790. Is this a form or a charge?. I called them back only to get a recording . I said (my exact words) I authorize gm/ dealer to repair this vehicle now at their cost and deliver it ASAP. Come Monday this will be 4 days no truck. This will force me to use very harsh civil complaints for these interruptions.
The truck was parked and the key was in the accessory (acc) position, and my two year old granddaughter hit the shift lever out of park, and the truck rolled down the street and hit a u-haul truck, she was not injured, her mother was in the truck with her but could not shift it back into park, or hit the brake.
The reverse gear went out in the transmission that cost $800. 00 to fix. Took vehicle to morris transmission service, and the dealer recommended to them that since the warranty expired they have been after gm to change it because it was the same part that broke every time. It was not a strong enough part for the transmission. This happened around August 4, 2005.
When coming up to an intersection, the truck failed to come to a complete stop, in dry conditions, with ample stopping distance. The truck was revving at a high rpm, and continued to push forward with the brake pedal pushed as hard as possible. This resulted in a rolling collision. Vehicle finally stopped when shifted into park. Immediately called dealership, and gm. After 2 days in the dealership they stated nothing is wrong, and will not investigate any further. I will not drive the vehicle any longer after this scary incident.
Chevrolet, 2000 Silverado, while consumer was driving at 70 mph the gear shifter went into reverse when it was nudged accidentally. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it went rear first into an embankment.
