Steering Is Tight Problems of Chevrolet Silverado

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the steering wheel was tight and extremely difficult to turn left and right. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the power assist motor. The second repair was the electronic torque control sensor; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was not included in manufacturer recall number: 14515 for the chassis control module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

I went to park the truck the steering was hard and the engine almost died. I took the truck to montgomery . Chevorlet ,louisville ky. 40213. They said that the throttle body needed cleaning. I paid $220. 77 to have it cleaned. It didnt help. The steering is the same as before. Im still driving it. Jan. 2 2015.

I was traveling at 55 miles per hour on a 2 lane highway. Vehicle became unresponsive to steering and brakes were not working correctly. Peddle had to be pushed all the way to the floor. Got vehicle slowed down and turned off. Once restarting steering was very tight but functional. Similar incident in 2013 resulted in an accident. Several more steering issues since December of 2013. Has been taken in for service and nothing has ever been fixed.

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the steering wheel was very hard to turn to the left. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was told that the steering box had to be replaced. The dealer stated that the manufacturer revised the steering box because of the failures, but did not issue a recall. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.

The steering is hard at times when at an idle and slower speeds. Feels like the power assist stops working and is a hazard by not being able to steer.
